With the 11th annual and venerated Screamfest La Film Festival running this Friday, October 14th through Saturday, October 22nd at Manns Chinese 6 in Hollywood, CA, we chatted yesterday with the director of one of the fest's selections, the feature Rites of Spring, and got the skinny on the slasher/hybrid, which is set for its world premiere on Saturday, October 22nd, at 12:00 noon.

About four years ago, Padraig Reynolds got our attention with the wicked short film called The Election featuring Ray Wise and Lin Shaye. Reynolds has since jumped into a feature film endeavor, Rites of Spring , and it is complete, ready to be shown to an audience. Today, we have a trailer to share. The film stars A.J. Bowen, Anessa Ramsey, Sonny Marinelli, Katherine Randolf, Marco St. John, Hannah Bryan, Sarah Pachelli, and James Bartz. School's Out Forever: A Visit to the Set of Padraig Reynolds' 'Rites of Spring'!
Padraig Reynolds, director of short film The Election, for which he won Best Director at the San Francisco International Film Festival, makes his feature-film debut with crime movie/creature-feature hybrid Rites Of Spring, and Bloody-Disgusting was afforded an exclusive set visit earlier this month. Filmed in Canton, Mississippi, B-d reporter Chris Eggertsen is here with all the details on the shoot, including specifics on the look of the set (filmed in an abandoned high school) and interviews with Reynolds and lead actors (and The Signal co-stars) Aj Bowen and Anessa Ramsey. In Rites, a group of kidnappers escape to an abandoned sanitarium where they fall victim to a horrifying secret.
