The courage to forgive starts with avoidance. It's about knowing that it's better to invest ourselves in the present to make our lives better

The main character played by Pierre Deladonchamps, in my personal opinion, portrays forgiveness as depicted by director Kilian Riedhof, which I believe stems from media portrayal. In reality, when most people encounter a significant other due to a sudden traumatic event, they still need to face the remaining life themselves. Just like the male lead in the film, he has to face the responsibility of raising his child, and to be honest, even when he's alone, he still needs to sort out his thoughts. So, I think the director wanted to convey to those who are grieving that the things that make us sad, we can choose to either avoid them or muster the courage to invest ourselves in making our present better. That, in itself, is courage. We shouldn't worry about what others say about whether we've forgiven or moved on. I believe the main character's sister really played a significant role in helping him.

Love conquers all (?)

No pun intended - if you lose someone close to you, what will your reaction be? How forgiving can you be? How will you be able to fight agains the hate, against whatever emotions this will make you feel .. especially against those responsible ... it is not an easy thing to answer and even more difficult to take action ... against.

In Israel and Palestine, families have formed a group against hate. Not sure if you feel the same way, but I would sort of compare it to this - you have people who have every right to feel mad ... to want revenge ... but they also know that it doesn't help much. Different viewpoints - and great acting help this being elevated ... not an easy watch, especially considering what the father has to go through, what he uncovers along the way too ...
