[This story contains spoilers up to the sixth episode of Grotesquerie.]
When the opportunity to audition for the role of Merritt Tryon in Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie first came to Raven Goodwin, she had a few questions
“It didn’t say ‘Grotesquerie.’ It said, ‘Snow Globe,’ and I was kind of confused. Like, is this for American Horror Story? Is this something completely different? But when I finally read the script, I absolutely loved it,” Goodwin tells The Hollywood Reporter of the secrecy surrounding the FX series that’s now midway through its run.
The same goes for the producing team’s reaction to Goodwin’s audition tape, including Niecy Nash-Betts, who stars in the lead role as Lois Tryon, Goodwin’s onscreen mother, and is an executive producer.
“Niecy called me and asked me, was it something that I really wanted to do? And I’m like, ‘duh,’” says Goodwin of the opportunity to work with Murphy and Nash-Betts.

Exclusive: German broadcasting network Ard has been accused of censorship following its decision to pull a scheduled broadcast of Palestinian director Annemarie Jacir’s 2017 feature Wajib due to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The film’s German co-producer Titus Kreyenberg told Deadline that Wajib had been due to air this Sunday (November 19), with the programming slot set for months and already announced in TV listings.
“It’s been taken off the schedule. Internally, we were told that it was decided that this was not the time to show a Palestinian film,” said Kreyenberg who works under the banner of Berlin and Cologne-based Unafilm with recent credits including Octopus Skin and A Woman.
Deadline has contacted Ard – a joint network involving 10 German regional public broadcasters – as well as Hamburg-based member Ndr, which backed the production. The networks have yet to respond.
Jacir’s drama Wajib is a gentle comedy-drama capturing the reality of Palestinians living within Israeli borders.

Licorice Pizza and If Beale Street Could Talk producer Sara Murphy arrives at TIFF this week with the intimate yet ambitious feature Mother, Couch, the first project produced under Fat City, the production label she launched last year alongside War Pony producer Ryan Zacarias.
Starring Taylor Russell, Ewan McGregor, and Ellen Burstyn, the pic is written and directed by Swedish filmmaker Niclas Larsson in his feature film debut. The story is adapted from a novel of the same name by Swedish filmmaker Jerker Virdborg.
“The book is very different from the film,” Larsson said of his adaptation. “In fact, the first thing I asked Jerker was how free I could be with the adaptation, and he said, ‘Look, steal whatever you want to steal, and go with it.’ So that’s that’s what I did.”
The biggest change Larsson made on screen was moving the story from Sweden to the US.

A rare, three-star item known as the Delicate Snow Globe is something players can get in Honkai: Star Rail's main story and use to connect to the memories of the character Bronya. Unlike common materials used for Ascencion, this Snow Globe serves the story and gives players a better understanding of a potential party member. However, players could miss this object in a specific mission, as it only appears by simply following objectives.
The Delicate Snow Globe was a toy from Bronya Zaychik's childhood and now commands over the Silvermane Guards as a powerful Dps character. Bronya plays a big part in the story of Honkai: Star Rail and uses the skills of a 5-Star Wind character of the Harmony Path to defeat enemies in combat.

Paris-based powerhouse MK2 Films has picked up international distribution rights to Felipe Gálvez’s Chilean Western “Los colonos” (“The Settlers”), one of the most buzzed-about projects to come out of Chile in recent years.
“We are very proud to be representing such an artistically ambitious period film and one of such crucial importance and vital necessity today, when the wounds of colonization are still fresh,” said Juliette Schrameck, managing director of MK2 Films.
Lead produced by Giancarlo Nasi at Santiago-based Quijote Films
“Having MK2 on board gives us a final boost for the financing process but also confirms what we always believed: that ‘The Settlers’ is a film of the highest artistic standard together with being audience appealing,” Nasi said.
Nasi described the film’s co-producers – Argentina’s Rei Cine, Denmark’s Snowglobe and France’s Cine-Sud Promotion – as a “dream team,” who have a record of backing important Latin American films.

Meanwhile, “The Sharks,” the first feature of Uruguay’s Lucia Garibaldi, swept San Sebastian’s Films in Progress.
While awards in the past have sometimes gone to little-known projects, this year saw plaudits shared by four of the strongest projects at the market in terms of director reknown, prestige producer backing or even, in the case of “La Llorona,” a sales market deal.
Winner of the Co-production Forum Best Project Award, “Hermano Peligro,” for instance, comes from a director. Pablo Fendrik, whose first three films, “The Mugger,” “Blood Appears” and “Ardor” have all been selected for the Cannes Festival, before he went on to co-direct two of the most distinguished...
