Mike Flanagan and David Dastmalchian are both prominent figures in the horror world, so it’s somewhat surprising that their first collaboration came not on a horror project, but on Flanagan’s upcoming movie The Life of Chuck – which, despite being a Stephen King adaptation, is a drama. Today, Deadline has announced that Flanagan and Dastmalchian are set to work together again… and this time the project is a horror film. Flanagan will be producing Epilogue, which Dastmalchian will star in alongside Flanagan’s wife and frequent collaborator Kate Siegel. “Xo, Kitty” Season 2 is kicking off production with the addition of three new cast members.

Variety has learned exclusively that Audrey Huynh, Sasha Bhasin (“Brave the Dark”), and Joshua Lee (“Gangnam Project”) have all joined the second season of the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” spinoff series at Netflix. Production is now underway in Seoul.

Huynh will appear in the series regular role of Stella, while Bhasin and Lee will recur in the roles of Praveena and Jin respectively.

The three join series lead Anna Cathcart as well as cast members Minyeong Choi, Gia Kim, Sang Heon Lee, Anthony Keyvan, Regan Aliyah, and Jocelyn Shelfo.

“One of the big things we assumed was that the younger viewers could handle scares,” Flanagan tells Empire, indicating that the terror of his latest series hasn’t been toned down for a younger audience. He says of Pike’s work in general, “He wrote some pretty advanced stuff for his younger readers, and it was not at all uncommon for his teenage characters to die, pretty shockingly. His books were full of things I found really exciting and thrilling and dark.”

Netflix has acquired global rights to Ace Entertainment’s YA romance, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, starring Haley Lu Richardson (Unpregnant), Ben Hardy (6 Underground), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Rob Delaney (Catastrophe), Dexter Fletcher and Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’s Diary).

The film from director Vanessa Caswill (PBS’ Little Women miniseries) and the producers of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise is based on the novel of the same name by Jennifer E. Smith. It watches as strangers Hadley (Richardson) and Oliver (Hardy) begin to fall for each other on their flight from New York to London. But is it misfortune or fate that separates them when they land? The probability of ever finding each other again seems impossible, but love — and London — may have a way of defying the odds.

Netflix has acquired global rights to the YA romance “The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight,” starring Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy.

The film adaptation of Jennifer E. Smith’s popular novel by the same name was financed and produced by Ace Entertainment, the producers of the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” movies.

Richardson (“Unpregnant”) and Hardy (“6 Underground”) star in the movie as Hadley and Oliver, two strangers who begin to fall for each other on a flight from New York to London. But, as the official logline explains, “Is it misfortune or fate that separates them when they land? The probability of ever finding each other again seems impossible, but love — and London — may have a way of defying the odds.”

The film’s cast is rounded out by Rob Delaney (“Catastrophe”) who plays Hadley’s father, whose move to London after his divorce...

The Guild of Music Supervisors held its 12th annual awards ceremony virtually on March 20.

Recognizing those who excel at the craft of music supervision in film, television, documentaries, games, advertising and trailers, the night’s big winners included HBO’s “The White Lotus,” supervised by Janet Lopez, who gave an impassioned acceptance speech, thanking the music makers of Hawaii for taking her call, and Liza Richardson for “Lovecraft Country” season 1. The Netflix film “Tick, Tick… Boom!,” supervised by Steven Gizicki, took home the prize for film budgeted over $25 million. Mandi Collier won twice for her work on “Sylie’s Love & Zola,” and “Dos Oruguitas” from “Encanto,” by Lin-Manuel Miranda and sung by Sebastian Yatra (and nominated for an Academy Award), won for best song written and/or recorded for a film.

The “Encanto” song “Dos Oruguitas” and the music supervision of “Zola,” “Sylvie’s Love,” “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar” and “tick, tick…Boom!” have been honored at the 12th annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards, which took place in a virtual ceremony on Saturday evening.

The music supervisors of “Zola,” “Sylvie’s Love,” “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar” and “tick, tick…Boom!” won for the best supervision of a film at four different budget levels. Songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Dos Oruguitas” from “Encanto” won in the Best Song Written and/or Recorded for a Film category, the only GMA category that corresponds to an Oscar music category.

Over the six years in which the guild has been giving out that award, the winner has gone on to take the Oscar only twice, with “City of Stars” from “La La Land” and “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born.

The film follows Wile E. Coyote, who after Acme products fail him one too many times in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a billboard lawyer to sue the Acme Corporation. The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer (Forte) against the latter’s intimidating former boss (Cena), but a growing friendship between man and cartoon stokes their determination to win.

MTV said Wednesday that the MTV Movie & TV Awards have been slated to take place Sunday, June 5, with the second year of the reality TV-focused Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted set for the next day. Both events will be held live at Santa Monica’s Barker Hanger.

The two shows also aired back to back in 2021, with the ceremonies taking place at the Hollywood Palladium with Leslie Jones hosting and honoring the likes of To All the Boys: Always and Forever as best movie and WandaVision as Best Show. The inaugural unscripted event was emceed by Nikki Glaser and saw wins by shows including RuPaul’s Drag Race, Nailed It! and Jersey Shore Family Vacation.

MTV is taking its Movie & TV Awards back to Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar. The network announced on Wednesday that its 2022 “MTV Movie & TV Awards” will air live on Sunday, June 5, followed by its second annual reality-centric “Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted” on the following night, Monday, June 6.

The kudocast’s hosts, nominees, performers, presenters and other details will be announced at a later date. MTV’s Bruce Gillmer, Wendy Plaut and Vanessa Whitewolf and Den Of Thieves’ Jesse Ignjatovic and Barb Bialkowski will all executive produce both the “MTV Movie & TV Awards” and “Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted.”

Both telecasts will also air on MTV internationally in 180 countries. Jackie Barba and Alicia Portugal are executives in charge of production and Lisa Lauricella serves as the music talent executive.

Last year’s “MTV Movie & TV Awards” was hosted by comedian Leslie Jones, and took place on May 16, 2021, at the Hollywood Palladium for the very first time.

The Guild of Music Supervisors released on Thursday the nominees for the group’s 12th annual awards ceremony, honoring music supervisors in film, television, advertising and video games.

Among the nominees for the film categories are “Being the Ricardos,” “Encanto,” “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar,” “The Harder They Fall,” “The Tender Bar” and “Tick, Tick… Boom.” Meanwhile, some of the Television nominees include “The Crown,” “Cruel Summer,” and “Genius: Aretha.”

Nominees for music supervision in trailers include “The Matrix Resurrections” and “Spencer,” while video game nominees include “Grand Theft Auto: Online — The Contract” and “FIFA 22.”

As previously announced, Diane Warren will receive the Icon Award, while Mitchell Leib will receive the Legacy Award, which honors “music supervisors who have excelled within the craft of music supervision.”

Nominees for the 12th annual Guild of Music Supervisors (Gms) Awards have been revealed, recognizing the craft of music supervision in film, television, games, advertising and trailers.

Among the film nominees for the 2022 edition of the Gms Awards are “Encanto,” “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” and “Being the Ricardos,” each of which also scored Oscar nominations this week. Television shows that scored nods include “The White Lotus,” “Blindspotting” and “Lovecraft Country.”

Songwriters, artists and music supervisors will be recognized together for the category of best song written and/or recorded for film.

As previously announced, Diane Warren will receive the organization’s prestigious Icon Award, and Mitchell Leib will receive the Legacy Award honoring those music supervisors who have excelled within the craft of music supervision.

The 12th annual ceremony will take place virtually on Sunday, March 20.

Lionsgate is set to handle the global sales of “Loveboat, Taipei” a U.S.-Taiwanese YA romance film that started production in Taiwan shortly before Christmas.

The picture is based on a best-selling novel by Abigail Hing Wen in which a young American woman is sent by her parents to a cultural immersion program in Taipei. The trip turns into a summer of romance and she has to choose between the attention of two attractive, but significantly different, young men and her true passion of dancing.

“Lionsgate is handling all global sales on the film though it’s too early to discuss specific territories,” a company spokesman told Variety in an emailed statement.

With its blend of Asian-American characters, romantic decisions and dance moves, the story has been pitched as a mix of “Crazy Rich Asians” and “La La Land.”

The 65th BFI London Film Festival, which concluded Oct. 17, attracted crowds for in-person events and virtually. The festival unspooled over 12 days across London venues, 10 partner cinema venues around the U.K. and online. There were more than 139,000 physical attendances at screenings and events and over 152,000 virtual attendances.

The festival closed with the European premiere of “The Tragedy of Macbeth” at new festival venue, the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall with director Joel Coen and key cast, including Frances McDormand, in attendance.

There was a sting in the tail, however, as two people who attended the closing film and after party tested positive for Covid-19, compelling the BFI to send letters to attendees informing them about this. The positive tests came as no surprise as the U.K. is experiencing a dramatic surge in cases currently.

It was “WandaVision” all along at the MTV Movie and TV Awards, which were presented live on Sunday night, May 16, during a ceremony hosted by Leslie Jones. Check out the complete list of winners here.

“WandaVision” had six nominations and won four: Best Show, Best Performance in a Show (Elizabeth Olsen), Best Villain (Kathryn Hahn), and Best Fight (Olsen vs. Hahn). But that wasn’t the end of the awards domination for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” was nominated for two awards and it won both of them: Best Hero (Anthony Mackie) and Best Duo (Mackie and Sebastian Stan). That means the MCU won almost half of the competitive prizes that were handed out. And then one more if you count the honorary Generation Award for the erstwhile Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson.

“To All the Boys: Always and Forever” won Best Movie and “Wandavision” won Best Show at the 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards on Sunday.

Marvel’s “WandaVision” had led all nominated shows with five nominations, while “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” led all nominated films with three. Fans had the chance to vote on all the nominees through MTV’s website, including in categories such as Best Hero, Best Kiss and Best Frightened Performance.

Comedian Leslie Jones hosted Sunday’s MTV Movie and TV Awards live from the Palladium in Los Angeles. This year, the awards will be followed by a second night called “Unscripted” that focuses on reality television.

2019’s big winners were “Avengers: Endgame” and “Game of Thrones,” while last year the awards ceremony was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and replaced with a special that looked at the Best Movies and TV Shows of all time.
