Image
Chris Hemsworth was the first actor we saw added to the Avengers: Doomsday cast earlier this year. What we don't know is exactly what the God of Thunder will bring to the table in the movie.

Thor: Love and Thunder ended with the Asgardian now accompanied on his adventures by a powerful young adoptive daughter, "Love." His brother, Loki, meanwhile, sits at the heart of the Multiverse, and their reunion promises to be a huge part of the story being told by the Russo Brothers.

Deadpool & Wolverine also seemed to confirm that the Asgardian will find a new ally in the Merc with a Mouth, Wade Wilson.

Avengers: Doomsday Rumor Reveals Surprising Team Dynamics; Chris Hemsworth Seemingly Wraps Shooting - Spoilers
Image
There's a lot of intrigue surrounding Avengers: Doomsday, especially as we've seen little in the way of buildup to the movie originally titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Sure, we've had a few Multiversal tales in the "Multiverse Saga," but only the post-credits scenes for Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps have really teed up Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom as the McU's new big bad.

Thunderbolts* established that the New Avengers and Sam Wilson's Avengers team are butting heads over a trademark, and according to The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez, that schism will be a big plot point heading into Avengers: Doomsday.

One of the Greatest Western Movies of All Time Has Found a New Streaming Home
Image
It's been almost 20 years since the world of western movies was taken by storm after a bold movie debuted in theaters. It wasn't a huge box office hit — after all, Westerns are part of a genre that is way past its prime — but 3:10 to Yuma is certainly one of the movies that makes it absolutely clear that, in the right hands, Westerns can still be riveting stories. If you've never watched it or feel like revisiting it, there's no time like the present: Peacock is adding it to its library on September 1.

3:10 to Yumatakes place in 1884 and centers around a rancher from Arizona who is in a pretty dire situation.

How Marvel’s Post-Credit Scenes Changed the Way We Watch Movies
Image
Honestly, I never used to wait through credits. Post-credits bits were rare, silly extras you could skip. But then, Marvel turned that shrug into a ritual. Literally, every MCU movie now hides a small bomb, a tease, a character drop, a universe-link that makes you sit glued to your seat and refresh Twitter the second you walk out.

Apparently, those extra minutes do more than wink at fans. Now, they move plots, seed spinoffs, and make each film feel incomplete without the next. That quiet trick rewinds how studios sell stories and how audiences watch them. In this piece, I’ll pen down how Marvel upgraded the post-credit gag into a storytelling tool,...

Hollywood Actors who Disliked playing their Iconic On-Screen Characters ( Photo Credit – YouTube )

As we tend to familiarize actors with their on-screen characters, it’s surprising that some have publicly expressed dislike for the roles that made them famous. Despite the iconic status of these characters, actors like these sometimes reveal that they hated portraying them.

Matthew Macfadyen, famous for his role as Mr. Darcy in Joe Wright’s Pride & Prejudice opposite Keira Knightley, once shared that he did not really enjoy playing the role. “There were moments I had a good time, but I wish I’d enjoyed it more. Superman Surpasses Zootopia In All-Time Domestic Box Office Charts
Image
Superman has passed a major Disney movie in a key highest-grossing chart. James Gunn and the new DC Universe are off to a solid start when it comes to the franchise's theatrical side. Superman might not have come close to the coveted $1 billion mark, but the movie never had to reach that lofty goal, no matter some negative chatter.

As Gunn previously revealed, he would be happy if Superman were to make back its budget. With its production costs reportedly set at $225 million, the Dcu's first movie needed to finish in the $450-562.5 million range, which it has already exceeded. That opens the door for Superman to chase higher spots in box office charts — with a profit guaranteed.

According to The Numbers, DC's Superman movie has passed Disney's Zootopia in the all-time domestic box office chart. Domestically, Superman is now looking at a $341.5 million total so far, which sees the...

As a result, some of the big screen releases like Thor: Love and Thunder, Captain America: Brave New World, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, underperformed at the box office to varying degrees. However, another thing that hurts these movies is the fact that a lot of reshoots and last-minute adjustments do not translate well on screen.

While the studio tries to add or subtract elements till the last possible moment to keep the fans happy, its effect on the actors is less discussed. A...

Image
Exclusive: Brandon Flynn (The Parenting), Elizabeth Perkins (Another Simple Favor), T.R. Knight (Grey’s Anatomy) and Ryan Powers (She-Hulk) are set to star in Deluxe Ocean View, a psychological horror film from director Bradley Bredeweg, based on an original screenplay by Powers.

In the indie, set on the icy shores of Cape Cod, renowned exposé journalist Ethan Everett (Flynn) arrives at the empty luxury resort, Notre Joie, for a career-saving interview. But the off-season staff and guests — including the beguiling owner Vera (Perkins), unsettling manager Oliver (Knight), and charming drifter Johnny (Powers) — draw Ethan into a surreal maze of guilt, secrets, and waking nightmares that forces Ethan to confront horrors far greater than any story he’s ever uncovered. Inspired by classics like The Shining and Mulholland Drive, the film unravels a story of guilt, deception, and how far we’ll go to outrun the past.

Simona Paparelli Wolf is producing under Sorry, Mom Pictures, alongside Powers for R U Mad At Me Productions and Emmy nominee Jason B. Stamey, who also served as casting director.

“I am honored to join this talented team of actors and producers to bring a bold, unsettling vision to life with this character-driven psychological horror,” said Bredeweg in a statement to Deadline. “As an Lgbtqia+ storyteller, I’m drawn to narratives that challenge norms and explore the complexities of identity, judgment and redemption. Written by the prolific Ryan Powers, this film terrifies me in all the right ways because it dares to ask a question we too often avoid: What drives a person to destroy their life in a single moment?”

Russell Crowe’s R-Rated Action Bomb That Lost $100 Million Gets Second Chance on Streaming Charts
Image
Russell Crowe made his Marvel debut two years ago as Zeus in Thor: Love and Thunder, but last year he starred in another Marvel-adjacent movie that’s returning to streaming charts. Crowe stars alongside Aaron-Taylor Johnson (Bullet Train) and Fred Hechinger (Gladiator II) in Kraven the Hunter, the Sony Marvel movie telling the origin story of the popular Spider-Man villain who also headlined the 2023 Game of the Year contender, Spider-Man 2 on PS5. Kraven the Hunter is currently streaming on Netflix in America, but globally, the film has surged into Google’s VOD top 10 in several countries, such as Argentina, Greece, and Italy. Kraven was not well-received by critics, who gave the film a meager 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the audience-driven Popcornmeter came to rest at a much more respectable 72%, albeit based on less than 3,000 reviews.

Still, modest audience reviews didn’t save Kraven the Hunter from a disastrous box office performance.

The Fantastic Four Will Slip To #3 At U.S. Box Office This Weekend With Better-Than-Expected 50% Drop
Image
The Fantastic Four: First Steps had a couple of weeks without any serious competition (though Superman and Jurassic World Rebirth posed a bigger problem than Marvel Studios likely expected), and now looks set to drop to third place in North America this weekend.

During Thursday previews, Barbarian director Zach Cregger's Weapons earned $5.7 million, with Disney's Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis-led Freakier Friday behind it at $3.1 million. The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailed both movies with $2.9 million, a decent enough hold that placed it ahead of The Bad Guys 2 ($2 million), The Naked Gun ($1.5 million), and Superman. ($1.4 million).

The latter continues to exceed expectations in the U.S., and appears to have connected with moviegoers in a way the latest Marvel Studios movie has not.

The original movie starred Christopher Lambert as the Scottish immortal Connor MacLeod, who is working as an antiques dealer in New York at the time when the movie begins, and Sean Connery as the Egyptian immortal Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, who becomes MacLeod's mentor. Cavill and Russell Crowe will play those roles respectively in the Highlander reboot.

Now, per The Hollywood Reporter, it has been confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Dave Bautista will be playing the reboot's primary antagonist. Bautista's character is reportedly the immortal known as The Kurgan, who was played by Clancy Brown in the 1986 movie.

Bob Iger Praises 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Despite Box Office Slump
Image
The Fantastic Four: First Steps has kick-started Phase 6 of the MCU with the introduction of Marvel’s first family. Starring Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, the movie saw a good opening weekend but has slumped at the box office since. While the reviews and fan response to the Matt Shakman-directed feature are great, it hasn’t reached the box-office heights compared to previous MCU features of this magnitude. That said, Disney head Bob Iger is proud of the film, nonetheless.

“The more we can find and develop original property, the better. Of course, we are developing original property under the 20th Century banner and under the Searchlight banner. And look, you could even argue that Marvel continues to mine its library of characters for original property," Iger said, during a Disney earnings call,...

Chris Hemsworth Debunks Biggest Theory About Thor After Viral Video
Image
Chris Hemsworth has cleared up the “misconception” that he has hinted at the death of Thor in Avengers Doomsday. Back in May, the popular MCU star went viral with a retrospective montage of his best bits as Thor, which thanked fans for 15 years, specifically for “making my journey through the MCU unforgettable… Next up, Doomsday!” However, while many fans took this as a sign that Thor is about to hang up his hammer in the next Avengers movie, perhaps these theories were a little premature.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hemsworth explained that there was no ulterior motive for his celebratory video other than to merely mark the end of one chapter and the start of another. Hemsworth said:

“I had a few people ask me about it, and someone on my team said, ‘Ugh, we’ve given the wrong impression here.’ We didn’t do any [damage control]; there was no damage control necessary.

MCU Movies Ranked: From Iron Man to The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Image
With more than 15 years and 30 movies behind it, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still doing alright. Across this cavalcade of almost three dozen movies are a wide variety of iconic superheroes, grand stories, impressive visual tapestries, and the occasional entry that manages to be just “not bad.” We all have our rankings for the very best and the very worst of the Marvel series, but now JoBlo officially has the MCU movies ranked from Iron Man to the newly released The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Here we go, from least to best:

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

Director Taika Waititi harnessed the mighty power of Chris Hemsworth’s sense of humor and blended it with his own colorful sensibilities for the hilarious, character-reviving Thor: Ragnarok. All eyes were on the sequel, Thor: Love and Thunder, especially given it would see the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster (taking on the mantle of Mighty Thor). Sadly,...

Chris Hemsworth Clarifies Thor's Future In Avengers: Doomsday Amid Misconstrued Video
Image
Marvel Cinematic Universe star Chris Hemsworth addresses his Thor video that sparked theories about his beloved hero in Avengers: Doomsday. While he has been missing from the MCU timeline since the end of Thor: Love and Thunder, the Asgardian Avenger is getting ready for a massive comeback in 2026's Avengers: Doomsday.

However, while Hemsworth is reprising the role of Thor, the MCU veteran got a lot of audience members worried earlier this year. In May 2025, Hemsworth shared a video to celebrate his return to the franchise, but this sparked the idea that his time in the MCU as Thor was ending after Avengers: Doomsday.

The Hollywood Reporter recently caught up with Hemsworth, where they finally asked him about his highly-discussed MCU video. Hemsworth made it clear that it was definitely not the intent for fans to think that he was preemptively bidding farewell to Thor, as he shared the following...

Hemsworth Sets Terms for Thor Return, Confirms Extraction 3 Timeline
Chris Hemsworth
Australian star Chris Hemsworth says he has “plenty of love left” for the Marvel hero that made him a household name—provided the next Thor chapter feels fresh. In a new interview he admitted he would only return if filmmakers “take the character somewhere unpredictable,” citing concern that audiences might tire of the same formula. He acknowledged that Thor: Love and Thunder’s lighter tone divided viewers and argued the next outing must strike a “surprise-and-delight balance” rather than chase bigger gags.

While his future in Asgard remains uncertain, Hemsworth’s other signature franchise is moving ahead. Writers Joe and Anthony Russo have finished a new draft of Extraction 3 and expect cameras to roll in 2025, setting up a likely 2026 premiere on Netflix. Hemsworth confirmed the creative team is “cracking the story now” to avoid repeating the second film’s rescue-mission template. Industry trackers believe a three-year gap between installments...

'Superman' Topples the 93% Rotten Tomatoes Comic Book Hit Critics Called a "New Standard for the MCU"
Image
There was a time when strictly average Marvel Cinematic Universe films, such as Thor: The Dark World, would do excellent business at the box office. That time has passed. Now, even something as well-reviewed as The Fantastic Four: First Steps is poised to underperform. Meanwhile, under the leadership of Marvel alum James Gunn, the rival DC Universe is off to a fantastic start with Supermanhaving already made more than $550 million worldwide. The movie recently overtook one of the McU's last breakout hits, before Avengers: Endgame changed the landscape of the franchise forever.

In its fourth week of release, Superman passed Thor: Ragnarok at the domestic box office. Supermanhas grossed $316 million so far, while Ragnarok concluded its run with $315 million in 2017. The movie was released only a few years after Gunn himself introduced his unique brand of vibrant mainstream filmmaking to the MCU with the first Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie was a massive hit,...

Why Fantastic Four: First Steps' Box Office Should Be Raising Alarms For Marvel
Image
Things started off on a promising note for Marvel Studios' "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" at the box office, but, as these things go, it's not just about a single weekend -- it's about the weeks that follow. To that end, director Matt Shakman's take on Reed Richards and the gang suffered a much bigger than expected drop in its second weekend despite the fact "First Steps" is one of the best-reviewed entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some time. As a result, Marvel Studios probably needs to start ringing some alarm bells at this point.

"First Steps" earned an estimated $38.6 million in its second weekend domestically, making for a 67% drop compared to its opening. It also added another $39.6 million internationally in its second frame. The "Fantastic Four" reboot debuted to $118 million domestically and $100 million overseas. Pre-weekend projections had Marvel's latest holding far better, but that's not how things shook out.

Sci-Fi Fans Are Rediscovering Will Smith's Forgotten $589M Alien Blockbuster 28 Years Later
Image
Will Smith may have won an Oscar for his performance in 2021’s King Richard, but in the 1990s, the former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor solidified himself as a sci-fi powerhouse. A year after he fought aliens in 1996’s Independence Day, Smith once again found himself dealing with extraterrestrials in 1997’s Men in Black, which is now surging on streaming.

Men in Black, which also starred Tommy Lee Jones, Linda Fiorentino, Vincent D’Onofrio, Tony Shalhoub, and Rip Torn, is, as of Aug. 3, the No. 13 most-streamed movie on iTunes, according to FlixPatrol. The film is an adaptation of the Aircel Comics series The Men in Black, by Lowell Cunningham.

The sci-fi alien invasion movie comes from director Barry Sonnenfeld, who also directed Smith in 1999’s Wild Wild West, and the Men in Black sequels Men in Black II and Men in Black 3. Sonnenfeld also served as an executive producer on 2019’s Men in Black International,...

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson in Y a-t-il un flic pour sauver le monde ? (2025)
Box Office: ‘Fantastic Four’ Craters By 66% in Second Weekend, ‘Naked Gun’ Debuts to $17 Million
Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson in Y a-t-il un flic pour sauver le monde ? (2025)
Marvel’s First Family might not save the day after all. “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is quickly losing steam in its second weekend, signaling the comic book adventure isn’t connecting at the box office beyond the film’s core demographic of superhero fans.

After a healthy $117.6 million debut, “The Fantastic Four” suffered a hefty 66% drop in its sophomore outing with $40 million from 4,125 theaters. Heading into the weekend, box office analysts anticipated a decline of 55% to 60% from its opening. This painful a fall is surprising because “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” has the benefit of positive reviews and word-of-mouth, as well as a clear runway in terms of competition.

Although those ticket sales were enough to rank as No. 1 on North American charts, “The First Steps” endured one of the steeper second-weekend drops for Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the company of February’s “Captain America: Brave New World...

12 Best Wrestlers Who Appeared In Comic Book Movies And TV Shows
Image
As the likes of All Elite Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment have become fully fledged entertainment brands, rather than just wrestling promotions, it's become more common to see the in-ring performers make the jump to Hollywood -- and no, not those awful movies like "The Chaperone," "The Marine 6: Close Quarters," or any of Hulk Hogan's questionable straight-to-video offerings. You only need to look at how Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns were cast in major roles as Guile and Akuma respectively in Kitao Sakurai's "Street Fighter" reboot movie. In the past, they may have been credited as Thug #1 and Thug #2 in some random action scene.

Considering how wacky the world of pro wrestling is, it's no surprise to see it cross over much more with comic book movies and TV shows. After all, pro wrestlers are simply superheroes in skimpier tights and with their own catchphrases -- and...

Variety's Ranking Of Over 50 Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies And TV Shows Is Dividing Opinions
Image
Between movies, TV shows, and animated series, there have been over 50 Marvel Studios projects since Iron Man blasted onto our screens in 2008.

Ranking them is no easy feat, but Variety has taken a crack at it, and the results have proven hugely divisive. Moon Knight was worse than Echo and Captain America: Brave New World? The Fantastic Four: First Steps is beneath The Marvels and Ironheart? And wait, Avengers: Endgame is the best MCU movie over Black Panther?!

Some of you might agree with those decisions, but you can still probably see why this list has split opinions.

Looking back at these movies and TV shows, it's wild to see how far Marvel Studios has come since Phase 1 culminated with what was then the biggest superhero movie of all-time: The Avengers.

Ultimately, everyone's ranking is going to differ, and one person's favourite movie or TV show could be someone...

Loki Season 2 Concept Art Reveals Scrapped Plans For The God Of Mischief To Meet The Living Tribunal
Image
Loki season 2 ended with the God of Mischief becoming the God of Stories. Now, the Asgardian sits at the centre of the Multiverse, powering up the Yggdrasil-shaped mass of endless alternate realities.

While Loki's actions opened the door to the return of Kang's many Variants and another Multiversal War, Marvel Studios has since shifted focus to Doctor Doom. He'll presumably travel to what used to be the Citadel at the End of Time to take Loki's powers, and it seems likely that Incursions may be a result of the anti-hero being unable to sustain this new Multiverse.

In the newly released Marvel Studios' Loki: Season Two - The Art of The Series book, it's revealed that, to drive home just how powerful Thor's brother is, there were plans for him to meet the Living Tribunal.

The Living Tribunal is a powerful cosmological entity known for exacting impartial...

Red Sonja shares a behind-the-scenes promo and a chainmail bikini selfie
Matilda Lutz in Red Sonja (2025)
A reboot of Red Sonja spent nearly fifteen years in development hell before going into production in 2022 with director M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) at the helm. Before Bassett signed on, the project had passed through the hands of directors Robert Rodriguez, Simon West, Bryan Singer, and Joey Soloway, with Hannah John-Kamen, Rose McGowan, and Amber Heard being considered for the lead role. Matilda Lutz ended up starring in the film, which is set to receive a theatrical release (courtesy of Samuel Goldwyn Films) on August 13 before arriving on digital on August 29. With those dates swiftly approaching, a behind-the-scenes look at the film’s stunts, fights, cast, and horses has been shared on social media, along with a selfie Lutz took while wearing the title character’s iconic chainmail bikini.

Bassett directed the film from a screenplay by Joey Soloway (Transparent) and Tasha Huo (Netflix’s Tomb Raider anime). This version...

Vin Diesel Teases New Groot Movie — Then Quietly Deletes It
Image
Vin Diesel might’ve let something slip. The actor behind Marvel’s Groot posted an update on Instagram that sounded like a big reveal, a new Groot movie, but then quickly edited it to remove all mentions of the project.

In his original caption, Diesel wrote, “So much to be excited about… Finally finished the Groot sequel for our friends at Disney… The Arbor King.” That was enough to send fans into full speculation mode. He even added, “You all know the other films in process or upcoming, but something about the continuation of that beloved floral colossus just feels different.”

Via Instagram

But not long after posting, Diesel quietly edited the caption and took out the part about Groot, making fans wonder if he spoke too soon, or maybe wasn’t supposed to say anything yet. Marvel hasn’t commented on the situation.

This isn’t the first time...

Marvel Movies in Order: How to Watch the MCU Chronologically
Image
It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Over 30 films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.

There are a couple of different ways to watch the Marvel movies in order, but below we run down how to watch the MCU in chronological and release date order. Indeed, some films like “Captain Marvel” and “Captain America: The First Avenger” are full-on prequels...

Box Office - Fantastic Four: First Steps Takes Off With One Of The Best MCU Debuts In Recent Years

Update: 2025/07/27 13:01 Est By Lukas Shayo

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Comes In Under Expectations As Superman Claims An Early Lead

This article was originally written Saturday Am and has been updated Sunday Pm with up-to-date box office projections (in bold), a full chart, and further analysis.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's The Fantastic Four: First Steps has already taken its first steps towards box office success. The latest Marvel movie, First Steps, reintroduces Marvel's first family and comes just two weeks after the DC Universe shocked the box office with Superman's impressive debut. Marvel hopes to match DC's success after a slow post-pandemic trajectory.

The box office has been dominated recently by summer blockbusters after a relatively slow start to the year. James Gunn's Superman, Ari Aster's Eddington, and the ever-present dinosaur epic Jurassic World Rebirth have been ruling the summer. A few other scattered projects have also been released,...
