Back in May, the popular MCU star went viral with a retrospective montage of his best bits as Thor, which thanked fans for 15 years, specifically for “making my journey through the MCU unforgettable… Next up, Doomsday!” However, while many fans took this as a sign that Thor is about to hang up his hammer in the next Avengers movie, perhaps these theories were a little premature.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hemsworth explained that there was no ulterior motive for his celebratory video other than to merely mark the end of one chapter and the start of another. Hemsworth said:

“I had a few people ask me about it, and someone on my team said, ‘Ugh, we’ve given the wrong impression here.’ We didn’t do any [damage control]; there was no damage control necessary.

Jurassic World Rebirth, the seventh installment in the iconic Jurassic Park franchise, hit theaters on July 2, 2025, and has enjoyed a stellar run at the box office. Despite a modest 51% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has emerged as the fourth-highest-grossing movie of the year, trailing only A Minecraft Movie, Lilo & Stitch, and Ne Zha II in global earnings.

Rebirth also recently overtook some notable box office hits, including Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), and Interstellar (2014). With a global total of nearly $767 million, Jurassic World Rebirth is now just about $8 million shy of surpassing the worldwide box office gross of a widely acclaimed James Bond film starring former 007 Daniel Craig. Things started off on a promising note for Marvel Studios' "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" at the box office, but, as these things go, it's not just about a single weekend -- it's about the weeks that follow. To that end, director Matt Shakman's take on Reed Richards and the gang suffered a much bigger than expected drop in its second weekend despite the fact "First Steps" is one of the best-reviewed entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some time. As a result, Marvel Studios probably needs to start ringing some alarm bells at this point.

"First Steps" earned an estimated $38.6 million in its second weekend domestically, making for a 67% drop compared to its opening. It also added another $39.6 million internationally in its second frame. The "Fantastic Four" reboot debuted to $118 million domestically and $100 million overseas. Pre-weekend projections had Marvel's latest holding far better, but that's not how things shook out.

Vin Diesel might’ve let something slip. The actor behind Marvel’s Groot posted an update on Instagram that sounded like a big reveal, a new Groot movie, but then quickly edited it to remove all mentions of the project.

In his original caption, Diesel wrote, “So much to be excited about… Finally finished the Groot sequel for our friends at Disney… The Arbor King.” That was enough to send fans into full speculation mode.
