Sofia Carson in The Life List – Picture: Netflix
In March 2024, Netflix confirmed The Life List, a new romantic comedy starring Sofia Carson. The movie is due out on Netflix soon, so we’re here with everything known about it, including the full cast, production updates, plot details, and more on its release date, which is now set for March 28th.
Adam Brooks is on board to both write and direct the project. The Canadian screenwriter and director is no stranger to the romantic comedy space, having written or directed (or both) titles like Definitely, Maybe, and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, plus the Netflix Original movie Nappily Ever After, released in 2018.
This isn’t the first time The Lift List has been attempted to be brought to the big screen. Ahead of the book’s release in 2013, Fox 2000 optioned the film rights for the novel, with Hutch Parker set to produce.

Director J.D. Dillard has gotten a lot of press for projects that he was attached to, but they fell apart. There was a remake of The Fly, a Star Wars movie and a sequel to The Rocketeer… But while those high-profile projects have gotten away from him, he has managed to make a few movies in recent years: the sci-fi crime drama Sleight, the creature feature Sweetheart, and the Korean War movie Devotion. He has also directed episodes of Utopia, The Twilight Zone, The Outsider, and Two Sentence Horror Stories. Now, Deadline reports that Dillard has signed on to direct an adaptation of the 2023 sci-fi thriller novel The Strange, which was written by Nathan Ballingrud. Aisha Porter-Christie is writing the screenplay and the project is set up at Black Label Media, the company that also produced Devotion.

Milly Shapiro (“Hereditary”) and Shannyn Sossamon (“A Knight’s Tale”) will star together in “The Hallowarrior,” Ben Sottak’s upcoming post-apocalyptic horror-thriller with a Halloween twist.
Production has just wrapped on the feature in Syracuse, N.Y., with the filmmakers releasing a first look still of a bloodied, Halloween jumper-wearing Shapiro (above).
“The Hallowarrior” follows Pumpkin (Shapiro), the last girl on earth and sole survivor of a humanity-ending plague, scavenging the wasteland for supplies on the eve of Halloween. Pumpkin’s lonely holiday ritual is interrupted by the arrival of a savage gang of raiders at her doorstep, led by the fearsome Thalia (Sossamon). Outnumbered and armed with candy, wit and weapons, Pumpkin must ferociously fight back to survive the night.

Godzilla is stomping into New York Comic Con.
The event, which will be held at the Javits Convention Center in New York City from Oct. 17 to 20, always has a wonderful selection of panels and booths where you can pick up your favorite pop culture artifacts. Funko and its subsidiaries, Mondo and Loungefly, will be at the convention sporting some brand-new, officially licensed “Godzilla” swag, which TheWrap can exclusively reveal.
Loungefly has a killer five-piece box of pins, with Godzilla, Baby Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, Moguera and King Ghidorah (and their accompanying laser blast or radioactive breath). Plus, Mondo is trotting out a new variant to their instantly iconic James Groman “Godzilla” soft vinyl figure. This version is the “psychedelic” variant, with an insane new color scheme that honestly isn’t that far off from how the King of the Monsters appeared earlier this year in “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.”

None of them knew for certain who the killer was until right before we shot the eighth episode, so that was the first shock, admitted Anne Sewitsky, the executive producer and director of Apple TV+s sizzling courtroom thriller, Presumed Innocent. Sewitsky, the Norwegian-American filmmaker whose previous endeavors include Monsterland and Black Mirror, directed the head-turning eighth and final episode of the season. The re-imagined tale, one of Apple TV+'s most-watched dramas, revolved around short-fused prosecutor Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal), who becomes a prime suspect in the gritty murder of one of his colleagues (Renate Reinsve).
The series is based on Scott Turow's bestselling 1987 novel, which was adapted into the 1990 film starring Harrison Ford. Sewitsky went on to say that Gyllenhaaland the rest of the cast were very surprised by the big reveal. Spoilers below:

Generally speaking, TV is a less frightening medium than film. (Broadcast news notwithstanding.) Part of that’s the serialized nature of the format; it can be difficult to get really scared wondering whether Scully and Mulder will make it out of any given “X-Files” nightmare when there are 18 or so installments left in the season and you know the show can’t go on without its star characters. It doesn’t help matters that network standards have also kept horror TV decidedly tamer than anything found in R-rated horror efforts for decades; you just can’t put a Rob Zombie or Eli Roth joint anywhere.
And yet, in spite of those disadvantages, the genre has positively flourished on television as of late, with plenty of creepy limited series and spooky serialized dramas bringing terror to the small screen. Audiences curious about what caused this phenomenon can thank “American Horror Story,...

‘American Horror Story’ fails to punch above its weight with a deep, raw idea that’s unfortunately stuck in a shallow episode and grave.
“For a minute. For a thousand years. Forever.”
Horror is full of fascinating figures who make enthralling arguments for why the dead are more valuable than the living and the persecution that frequently follows this philosophy. Titles like Re-Animator, Deadgirl, The Autopsy of Jane Done, and so many others uniquely examine life, death, and the blurred lines in between the two. American Horror Stories’ “Necro” attempts to also bring grief and romance into the equation with this failed experiment that falls short in some seriously tone deaf ways, but still manages to scratch the surface of some compelling ideas.
“Necro” focuses on Sam, a passionate mortician who finds herself at a crossroads in life. Sam has to shoulder most of this episode and Madison Iseman rises...

Monsters can be literal or metaphorical, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find which are which in the anthology horror series “Monsterland.”
“Monsterland” is a Hulu original horror anthology released on October 2, 2020. “Monsterland” doesn’t feature monsters in the traditional sense. There is no vicious monster on the loose killing people. Though the atmosphere is eerie, the series doesn’t rely on jump scares to deliver horror.
Instead, “Monsterland” will slowly inject horror into your mind and leave you unsettled for hours after. What’s “Monsterland” all about, and where can you watch it? Read on to find out.
Where Can You Watch “Monsterland?”
The series is absent from the big networks, such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, because Hulu has decided to keep “Monsterland” exclusive to its network. You can watch it with any Hulu plan.
What Is “Monsterland” About?
Instead of making your heart pump faster, “Monsterland” puts you into existential dread.

Annapurna’s chief content officer Sue Naegle is stepping down from her post, Variety has confirmed.
The show business veteran had served as Annapurna CEO Megan Ellison’s top content executive for nearly six years, and helped buttress the indie company through the pandemic and other periods of great uncertainty. Exclusive: Spectrum Originals has given a straight-to-series order to The Second Wave, a six-episode pandemic-themed drama from The Good Fight and Evil creators Robert & Michelle King. It is headlined by The Good Fight co-star Audra McDonald, Orange Is the New Black alumna Taylor Schilling and Steven Pasquale (The Comey Rule). The series is co-produced by Spectrum Originals and CBS Studios where the Kings are based.
Created and written by Robert and Michelle King, The Second Wave follows an unexpected, deadly second wave of the coronavirus outbreak in New York City. It follows the lives of two neighbors, Rachel (McDonald) and Lily (Schilling), as they navigate life in quarantine in New York City. While Rachel juggles her many telemedicine clients as well as a shaky, passionless marriage, Lily is upstairs just trying to convince her Wall Street clientele that her very specific skillset is still just as valuable over video as it was in person.

Orange Is the New Black actress Taylor Schilling appeared on Rolling Stone‘s The First Time to discuss her starring role in an episode of Monsterland, a new horror anthology series from Annapurna that premiered on Hulu earlier this month.
“I was really interested in the way the script externalized the more monstrous parts of ourselves into scary monsters outside of ourselves,” Schilling said. “I thought that was really fun, and a great way to get some distance from what’s happening in our internal landscape to talk about it in a narrative form.

Hulu’s new anthology horror series “Monsterland” isn’t about the things that go bump in the night. It’s about the things that go bump within us, what makes us tick, what makes us monsters. It’s a vision of horror that showrunner Mary Laws was drawn to — in spite of her attempts to move outside the genre. Laws burst onto the scene in 2016, writing the script for the Nicolas Winding Refn feature “The Neon Demon.”
“The Neon Demon” set up Laws as a horror director, but she didn’t want to thermatically repeat herself. “I wasn’t really interested in anything that was like the slasher, blood and guts kind of horror,” she told IndieWire. Laws wanted to investigate character, and that’s when she discovered Nathan Ballingrud’s book “North American Lake Monsters: Stories.” Found within Ballingrud’s book were elements that spoke not just to Laws...

Kelly Marie Tran has shared her thoughts on a potential return to the Star Wars franchise. In the 2017 sequel The Last Jedi, Tran first began playing the role of Rose Tico, a mechanic working with the Resistance. She reprised the role in last year's The Rise of Skywalker, which capped off the story of the sequel trilogy.
Because there was criticism over the lack of screen time Rose Tico had in The Rise of Skywalker, some fans want to see the character return at some point in the franchise. This includes filmmaker Jon M. Chu, who volunteered to helm a Rose Tico series for Disney+. Speaking with Collider about Chu's idea and whether we could see Tran back in the Star Wars universe some day, here's what the actress had to say.
"He's so cool. I don't know. I honestly don't know. It's so strange. I had so much fun...

When Trieu Tran auditioned for Hulu’s horror anthology series “Monsterland,” he didn’t anticipate being a lead or that his character’s life would, in some ways, mirror so much of his own.
In the episode titled “Palacios, TX,” Tran stars as Sharko, a down-on-his-luck fisherman suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (Copd) who discovers a mermaid washed up on-shore, played by Adria Arjona. He brings her home, defending her from other greedy fishermen. The two engage in a dreamy romance, a touching if temporary salve to his persisting loneliness that, ultimately, ends in tragedy.
The emotional richness of Sharko’s story is one the veteran stage, film and TV actor says he rarely gets to play on-screen. “When I was reading the script, I’m like, ‘Man, I finally get to play a fleshed-out character with an arc,” Tran tells Variety. “He’s Asian American, he’s the...
