My Best Friend's Girl is based on a script by screenwriter Jordan Cahan.
It was filmed in Boston, Massachusetts. In a rooftop scene, the panorama behind them shows the Prudential Tower and the John Hancock building. In the jogging scene, they are shown running past the Bunker Hill Monument.
The unrated version is almost 11 minutes longer than the R-rated version and it mostly contains extended scenes plus some changes in the actual scenes, but there are also a couple of new scenes in it.
