Seriously...?

Of course this was a movie that I had never heard about. And stumbling upon the movie by random chance here in 2025, of course I opted to check it out, on account of it being a movie that I hadn't already seen. And I assumed that this was going to be a comedy set in the World War II era.

Writer Robbie Davidson, whom also directed the movie, put together a strange, so very, very strange script and storyline for the movie. I didn't really know if the movie was meant to be a comedy or if Robbie Davidson were trying to pass it as something serious. Regardless, I have to say that the storyline sort of fell short of adequately entertaining me. And it was a combination of pretty awful dialogue, one dimensional characters and a storyline that almost made no sense that was the cause of that.

I have to say that having the Germans in the movie speak English with a fake and comically thick German accent is not the best way. It feels very 1980s. It would have been so much more better if they had actually spoken in the German language. And also made for a more convincing movie.

Needless to say that I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. I can't claim to have found any performances to be particularly outstanding or memorable.

"Dick Dynamite: 1944" looked like a low budget movie, but I bet the movie makers had fun making this movie. And points awarded for the effort put into this project.

Most of the weapons in the movie all had dual-barrels, which was something that made absolutely zero sense, and it just made the movie seem way more ridiculous than it had to. It should be noted, that while the guns were laughable to say the least, then the wardrobe was actually good.

The movie does make use of special effect in a bloody way. There is a lot of CGI blood in the scenes.

This was not a particularly great movie. But I am sure that there will be a niche audience out there for something like this.

My rating of writer and director Robbie Davidson's 2023 movie "Dick Dynamite: 1944" lands on a very generous three out of ten stars.

It's too low budget

Completely politically incorrect. Over the top violent. Unnecessary cursing. And these are its great qualities. A guy movie through and through.

The negatives: the special effects look low brow and cheesy. The visuals are meh (to be kind). The story is well nonexistent. The dialog (aside from the cursing) is laughable when it's not meant to be. It has that SISU vibe but with zero attempt at being a quality looking film.

If they were able to make the film look better with the same level of politically incorrectness, it'd be a bonafide classic. It's above student film quality but not by much. A six is my final verdict.

my friends

My friends made this movie . Am I going to put up a review saying a bunch of stuff to make it apparent that I know the film makers ? No i'm not gonna do that. Im gonna be honest . I hate when people do that on here . Do I want to support my buds and have this be seen ? Absolutely ! If you want to check it out cool go for it . If not thats cool too . Would I like this movie if I didn't know the makers of it ? Well honestly ya its right up my alley ..... Vinnie Stigma it in it . And dick dynamite the guy from electric six is the lead . I love movies that are funny and always like movies that are violent . Plus killing nazis is always great !! Hope you like it if you check it out ....

Over the top fun.

Grinned from ear to ear watching this. It's straight-up fun-thrilling, surprising, and even a little shocking. What an achievement for a self- and crowd-funded project. It more than compensates for its limitations with sheer ambition and gusto.

The determination and drive to pull this off, given the sheer number of cast, locations, and period-specific vehicles required, is remarkable. It's a colossal undertaking for an indie project. The prop design is fantastic, the effects are crude at times but obviously ingeniuosly imaginative and improvised. The costume design is also impressively authentic.

While the overall audio quality leaves something to be desired, the dubbing of the characters adds to its charm.

From an indie filmmaker's perspective, I find it truly inspiring-a firm kick up the backside for anyone who thinks their script or concept is "too ambitious."

Well done to everyone involved!

A joyride of gore, action and one liners

This movie is really fun to watch and will keep you engaged throughout. Every scene offers eye catching visuals and the gore is truly hilarious. Some really fun and distinctive characterisation which sets up a solid foundation for the movie plot. If you liked the 80s classic action comedies youll just love this one for its simple story trajectory and hilarious one liners. An easy watch. For a movie that is self/crowd funded this film really does deliver which is a remarkable achievement by the creator. Film making like this really shows that the director has undeniable raw talent and its easy to see he has influences and an understanding of what an audience really want to see and hear for a movie of this genre. Great efforts by the actors give it a beating heart. I personally cant wait to see whats next. I guess we are now getting to know Dick!

Walking dead meets commando

If you like your 80's action movies and if you like it with a bit of gore and violence then this will be right up your street. Not only that had me laughing out loud for the entire movie. The over the top violence top level comedy and all happening at a relentless pace left me wanting more. When everyone had had enough of the Christmas pish with James bloody cordon on every channel this is the perfect antidote and exactly what I needed. What a laugh!! Nazi Ninjas I'm bought in.

The characters were brilliant (Tam the Bam my favourite) with some outstanding cameos. Not to mention the music was incredible.

What next for dick dynamite and his crew......I'm intrigued.
