Heart breaking

I'm surprised at the end to learn about that how many cases remain being unsolved and people just ignore it. It was my 2nd movie about child abuse and first was ''Go back''. But, I still can't believe those movies are based on true events. I am so emotionally touched and feel poor these kids who suffered or have been suffering. I don't know abusing child in Korea ever going to stop.

However, talking about the movie, movie is amazing. Specially, the girl and the step mother did a wonderful job. All the time, while watching this movie, I felt like, I can feel the girl's pain. Though I hate the step mother for her wrong doings but couldn't resist myself from praising her, realllyy!! Outstanding acting.

The thin line between child discipline and child abuse

You would really need to rethink about parenting after seeing this movie. What is child abuse? What is child discipline? What's the difference between those two? When is someone said to have crossed the line?

A girl and his little brother boy have to face something very dark in their early years of life. And nobody comes to their rescue because they're too afraid to cross the family affairs boundaries. This is what actually happened in our society right now. And this movie peel it off mercilessly.

Definitely 8/10.

Emotional and meaningful

Decent movie based on true events of child abuse. Though the story is kind of slow paced and predictable, the moral is deep and thought provoking. Fine performance by Seon yu and the rest of the acting is decent, while the script and directing can be improved.

Child abuse is common in Asian countries where it was culturally more accepted, especially in the old days people believes beating up children is for their good, which is of course unacceptable in today's standard, that can lead to depression or life long trauma on an individual.

Spreads awareness, good movie.

I just started watching Korean crime and other true story movies a while ago, and I haven't watched many, but this one is pretty good. I think that most, if not all protagonists/characters in this movie are quite likable, except for the abusive parents, of course. The actor who played the lawyer is very talented. He is caring to the children, while also being able to focus on his job and promotions. Both kids acted very well for being very young, and the movie is realistic.

i felt sorry

Although the storyline of this film is relatively easy to predict, it does not reduce its emotional power, considering that this film is based on a very touching true story. I personally cannot imagine experiencing a traumatic event like this in real life. The struggle of the siblings in facing life's difficulties and achieving happiness amidst limitations is very inspiring and touching. The acting of the little sister deserves a thumbs up; they appear very natural and convincing, so that she is able to make the audience feel the emotions she feels. Likewise, the acting of the stepmother who successfully conveys the complexity of the emotions of an antagonistic and inhumane stepmother. Throughout the film, I felt very sorry and sad to see the indifference of the adults around them. The conflict presented in this film is very strong and the climax feels very intense, successfully making me carried away by the story and feel quite heartbreaking emotions.

Very heartbreaking....

It's not often a movie will get me to shed a few tears unintentionally, but this is one of those films that managed to do so.

As other reviewers pointed out, there is a thin line between disciplining your child and abusing them. The movie also threads over this topic ever so slightly along with giving a few scenes juxtaposing how parents need to be firm but also avoid stepping over the line. We get to see this in practice where the main character's nephew comes across as a bit bratty, and he at times will chide him. But then we also see what happens in the case of Da-bin and her brother, and how that wasn't just discipline but outright abuse.

The director did a fine job of pulling at the heart strings to force the audience into truly uncomfortable situations, which was highlighted by the excellent acting from the two kids. It really made you feel for them. Couple that with a moving soundtrack and well lit cinematography, and the movie gives you this contrast between what should be a feel-good experience and something truly heartbreaking.

This is a tough film to watch at times, and if you're not in the mood to shed some tears (no matter how tough you think you are), then you might want to go for something a bit cheery. Even still, this is a fantastic film, and tugging on the emotional cords of viewers comes naturally with the way the story unfolds, which makes it well worth the watch.

Not for the faint of heart

This was a hard watch - not because it's an awful movie but because there is quite bit of child abuse happening. Think of a gangster films where a gangster beats up someone who owes them money or another gang member...but that someone is a child and the abuser is the step mother. It's that type of abuse happening on screen and it is rough to get through. I enjoyed it because it was a well done film - even if some of the characters weren't well flushed out - but I don't know if I can watch it again. I would recommend at least one viewing of this as it is worth the watch. I know it's a movie and everything is done safely and is fake, but the actress playing the step mother provably had to see a psychiatrist and a priest after some of those scenes.

silent....

Crying, sadness and sorry to the situation of the children who are forced to deal with his example of de-sanimagonic creatures, I feel the fullest of distress and distress for being adult and I cannot protect them. I wish from all my heart that there is a guardful owner for every child who is forced to live with

Emotionally struck me

The movie is beautifully told, and kept its promise "To be based on true events". the story never loses the point where there are insane bad people; there is also hope for goodness adding little bit of life, it will make you cry every bit of it, but also gives you simple bit of hope for life;
