It's funny.

I saw a teaser for 'Home Videos' on HBO years back, but then it disappeared. I thought it was an upcoming series, it looked ultra real and funny, but I couldn't find it when I searched.

Race and sex and truth and humor and a trampoline? Where'd ya go?!

Now, after, Rothaniel, I finally found it. What struck me was how at ease Jerrod Carmichael was talking and laughing with every strong woman and girl here (as well as goofing with his nieces and getting his wine on).

Easy with everyone but his mother.

That conversation (on both their parts) felt so loaded and uncomfortable it made me itch.

That's the beauty of a personal documentary: you never know what kids will say, when awkwardness will strike, how funny and real his inner circle will be with the comedian, or how twitchy people who love each other can get when caretaking bleeds into resentment.

The difference between a smile and perma-grin is a very thin line.

This was great. I stumbled on it on HBO trying to find something to watch.

It made me realize that having support and love from your family is so important. The things he talks about so openly with friends and family. I couldn't do that with mine.

Life is hard in its self so coming home you need love to balance out everything else.

It was funny, intellectual and authentic.
