Image
In a world of endless social media doomscrolling, one advice I try to give friends and family is to try doing daily puzzles. The success of puzzles like the New York Times’ Wordle and Connections has helped greatly here. But I’m also happy to tell you that there are some very fun and original alternatives out there.

The ones I’m talking about are the ones from The Atlantic. The Atlantic has five games that reset daily, including games like Crossword, Fluxis, and Stacks. You can check out the games here. Usually, these games start out easy on Monday and become harder as the week progresses.

If you need help with any of them, we’ve got your back with daily solutions. So today, we’re going to take a look at the solutions for all the Atlantic Games for July 17, 2025.

Image
Horror fans, prepare for a fright-filled evening as the iconic Friday the 13th returns to the big screen on the most sinister day of the year, Friday the 13th. Hosted by former Horror Channel presenter and all round horror scholar Emily Booth, this event promises to launch a new monthly horror film club with a scream. And all you need to do to enjoy it, is make your way down to the Electric Palace Cinema, in Hastings. Along with the classic slasher flick, audiences will be treated to Booth’s very own short horror film, Selkie, filmed on Rock-a-Nore beach, adding a chilling local twist to the event.

Friday the 13th is more than just a film; it’s a hallmark of the horror genre. Directed by Sean S. Cunningham and featuring a cast that includes a young Kevin Bacon, the 1980 cult classic follows a group of teenage camp counsellors who,...

Dark Horse Comics presents Séance in the Asylum, a new historical horror series from renowned writer Clay McLeod Chapman and artist Andrea Mutti that will have you questioning what’s real and what’s not. ‘Midnight Peepshow’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Richard Cotton, Roisin Browne, David Wayman, Ocean M Harris, Miki Davis, Zach Galligan, Jack Fairbank, Jamie Bacon, Derek Nelson, Sarah Diamond, Ryan Oliva, Bethan Walker | Written by Andy Edwards, Airell Anthony Hayles, Jake West | Directed by Andy Edwards, Airell Anthony Hayles, Ludovica Musumeci, Jake West

[Note: With the film set for its digital debut tomorrow, here’s a reposting of our review of Midnight Peepshow from its festival run back in 2022]

British horror cinema has a long-standing tradition of producing some of the best anthologies of all time, in particular in the era of Hammer, Tigon et al. So when a new anthology comes along it can be hard to separate it from history and tradition. But with Midnight Peepshow, filmmakers Andy Edwards, Airell Anthony Hayles, Ludovica Musumeci and Jake West actually tap into British cinematic history, setting their film in the formerly sleazy streets of London’s Soho – a place where, once upon a time, sex and cinema were often intertwined.

The film opens with the traditional wraparound,...

Frightfest 2023: ‘Mancunian Man: The Legendary Life of Cliff Twemlow’ Review
Image
Cliff Twemlow is, for me, something of an enigma, an urban legend, even a myth if you like. I remember reading about this self-made film star in the pages of Darkside Magazine – his films seemingly lost to the VHS era in much the same way as Lindsay Shonteff’s oeuvre. Speaking of VHS, Twemlow is probably best known for G.B.H., a British gangster movie that became notorious after it featured on the video nasties list thanks to the garish artwork – Cliff’s character covered in blood brandishing a hammer!

What I didn’t know about Twemlow is that he wrote music, and performed not only as part of a band (under the name Peter Reno) but also penned theme songs under the same name for the De Wolfe label – over 2000 pieces of music in fact, themes that went on to be featured on TV shows of the era! Twemlow was also a novelist,...

Frightfest 2023: ‘Werewolf Santa’ Review
Image
Stars: Katherine Rodden, Mark Arnold, Emily Booth, Joe Bob Briggs, Cory Peterson, Roxanne Gregory, Charlie Preston | Written and Directed by Airell Anthony Hayles

You’d think Christmas horror films up until now had covered it all. Where can you go after all the killer Santas, snowmen and elves? Well, not too long ago, Krampus was the new thing for genre filmmakers to make a holiday film about and there’s been a few decent movies on that subject – none better than the 2015 film. Last year we got a couple of great new Christmas-themed horror movies with Violent Night seeing David Harbour as Santa saving Christmas and a family and the even more original but brilliantly violent Christmas Bloody Christmas, which featured a killer robotic Santa on the loose. 2023 doesn’t seem to be the year where Christmas horror runs out of ideas because now we are getting Werewolf Santa.

‘Peripheral’ Review
Image
Stars: Hannah Arteton, Rosie Day, Tom Conti, Jenny Seagrove, Elliot James Langridge, Connor Byrne, Belinda Stewart-Wilson | Written by Dan Schaffer | Directed by Paul Hyett

Paul Hyett’s debut movie The Seasoning House blew me away. With its hard-hitting story and an incredible performance from Rosie Day, It was one of my favourite films of 2013. He followed it up with something completely different, the highly entertaining werewolf movie set on a train Howl, so I was now very much looking forward to checking out Peripheral.

Peripheral is once again, completely different from the directors other movies. This time more sci-fi but still entering into body horror territory. We follow Bobbi Johnson whose debut novel has become a huge hit but also sparked riots across England. Now struggling with her second novel, a stalker and trying to stay off drugs, her publishing company give her a new computer and editing software that...

Anne Hathaway
The cultural gender war heats up for Anne Hathaway in sci-fi-horror 'The Shower'
Anne Hathaway
There's a British horror-comedy from 2009 called "Doghouse," written by Dan Schaffer and directed by Jake West. In it, a group of guys trying to help a friend deal with his divorce all go to a small village where a virus has turned every single woman into a man-eating monster. Literally. The movie's not quite the misogynistic nightmare that sounds like, but it also isn't quite smart enough to be the movie that it wanted to be, a cutting piece about the culture war between the genders. Well, it looks like Anne Hathaway's going to get a shot at trying to make the good version of the film now thanks to the news that "The Shower" is going to be made. One of the scripts from last year's Black List, written by Jac Schaeffer, "The Shower" is about a group of women who get together for a baby shower, only...

Noel Clarke
Exclusive: Noel Clarke Talks Battling Monsters in Storage 24
Noel Clarke
Actor/writer/producer Noel Clarke discusses his new thriller Storage 24, currently available on VOD before hitting theaters January 11

Noel Clarke is getting to the point where he may have literally done it all in movies and television. Fans of the BBC series Doctor Who will know him for his arc as Mickey Smith. He has also written, directed, produced, and starred in his own indie features such as Kidulthood, Adulthood, and Doghouse. His profile will likely be even bigger with his mysterious role in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness later this summer. The talented multi-hyphenate can next be seen in the thriller Storage 24, which, of course, he also co-wrote and produced.

The actor stars as Charlie, a broken man who heads to a London storage facility with his friend Mark (Colin O'Donoghue), after his girlfriend Shelley (Antonia Campbell-Hughes) leaves him. Things get awkward when Shelley and...

Fully loaded with a large gangly creature that looks as though it may be related to the alien that tore through R.J. MacReadys Antarctic base camp in The Thing stuck in cramped confines perfectly suited for a game of fatal hide and seek Storage 24 looks wicked good. Horror fans are about overdue for a new monster movie worth investing in. Storage 24 may be our answer.
