The first images from Mortal Kombat 2, debuted by EW, reveal “The Boys” star Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, a fan-favorite character from the video game franchise.

The photos also show Adeline Rudolph (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) as Kitana, Hiroyuki Sanada returning as Scorpion, and bodybuilder Martyn Ford (“The Sandman”) as antagonist Shao Kahn.

“You finally get to see Johnny Cage,” Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon tells EW. “His integration into the Mortal Kombat story and universe is a big part of what this movie explores. He’s a washed-up Hollywood guy thrown into this magical, ultra-violent thing.

“Karl, his depiction of Johnny Cage is different than our games in some ways. He’s adding his own flare to it, but I think it’ll feel fresh. There’s like a novelty factor in there.”

Jon Bernthal’s return to the role of Frank Castle in Daredevil: Born Again was just one of the high points of Marvel’s revival of the former Netflix-based Defenders Saga. Now, not only is The Punisher part of the MCU, he is bringing back the same brutal, no-holds-barred approach to dealing with things that made the character one of Marvel’s most violent and controversial characters. The review embargo for Daredevil: Born Again lifted last night just as the first two episodes hit Disney+. A late embargo isn't always a great sign, but the full season has received a mostly positive response from critics.

We realize a lot (most?) of you don't pay much attention to reviews, but it is interesting to see how the overall verdict on Born Again compares to the Netflix show and its Disney+ predecessors.

Based on 62 reviews, Born Again is currently "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive 84%. This puts the adult-orientated revival above the second season of the original Netflix series (81%), but below seasons 1 (99%) and 2 (97%).

As for the previous Disney+ MCU shows, Born Again is higher than the only "Rotten" project in the bunch (Secret Invasion), Echo (70%) and Loki season 2, and tied with Agatha All Along.

It’s not a proper season of “Daredevil” without a big one-take fight scene — from the iconic Season 1 hallway fight that started it all to the staggering 10-minute Season 3 prison escape set-piece, “Daredevil” has always put a premium on shooting the hell out of a fantastic fight.

Naturally, “Daredevil: Born Again” had to fulfill that promise, and the newly revived series doesn’t waste any time, delivering a big one-er during the pivotal 16-minute opening sequence that sets up the entire season. Directors and executive producers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who helmed the first and final episodes of “Born Again” Season 1, told TheWrap that their personal style “weirdly jived pretty instantly” and celebrated the “creative freedom” offered to “be bold and to try to continue that tradition from the Netflix show of extremely bold visuals, bold lighting,” and “oners that seemed completely impossible.

Daredevil is back and it’s good to have him. The “Street-Level” shows Marvel produced for Netflix in the 2010s gave us some of the best superhero TV of all time, particularly “Jessica Jones” and The Man Without Fear’s brutal first run.

This Disney+ sequel, appropriately titled “Daredevil: Born Again,” seems a smidge less dark and violent. That could just be because what is essentially the series’ fourth season is nine episodes long instead of earlier incarnations’ 13, which leaves less time for Charlie Cox’s blind Defender with the heightened other senses to break limbs and suffer the lacerations his Catholic guilt drives him to seek out.

But fear not. There are extended beatdowns and gory murders in each new chapter. The real punishment this time around, however, is meted out to the rule of law and political decency in New York City. With endless parallels to what’s going on in Washington D.

Marvel has never really felt quite whole since Avengers: Endgame. Perhaps it was the absence of some of the most integral and beloved heroes, the poor storytelling in Phases Four and Five, or the lack of a connective tissue in the new Multiverse Saga. As the MCU now prepares for a grand two-part showdown, the studio is at the most crucial turning point in its 17-year-long history. With the failure of the Multiverse Saga, Marvel can essentially kiss the future goodbye. But if the Russo Brothers can really pull off Doomsday and Secret Wars as beautifully as Infinity War and Endgame, the studio will earn back its fans’ love and loyalty.

It's no secret that Daredevil: Born Againhad a long, winding road to its highly anticipated return. Along with spending a few years lying dormant, the MCU fan-favorite also underwent a creative leadership reshuffle. Many things about the original Netflix series will return and remain intact, including, of course, the core star duo of Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin and Charlie Cox as Daredevil. For D'Onofrio, what ultimately made him confident in where things were heading with the Daredevil revival was a critical conversation with a respected colleague and fellow Marvel star: Ethan Hawke.

Back when "Moon Knight" first premiered, we praised how few ties the show had to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It allowed the show to stand on its own, to highlight the gritty and mature story, as well as the weirdness of the titular character. The show stars Oscar Isaac as both mercenary Marc Spector and archeologist Steven Grant, two identities sharing the same body, who investigate a world of Egyptian deities and ruthless killers. This is one of the best shows Marvel Studios has made, mostly thanks to the directorial style of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who bring their particular kind of weird to the MCU.

It’s been just over two years since James Gunn and Peter Safran mapped out their initial slate of projects for DC Studios and what would be the newly revamped Dcu, a new interconnected universe of superhero movies and films based on DC characters and kicking off in earnest with Gunn’s “Superman” arriving this summer.

We're already closing in on three years since Moon Knight launched on Disney+ and, even if Marvel Studios hadn't changed its approach to small screen storytelling, the moment has arguably already passed for season 2. 

Marvel Television's Brad Winderbaum recently confirmed that "There are plans for Moon Knight down the road." Those won't include a second season, though, so what's next for Oscar Isaac's anti-hero? The character is too good to leave on the shelf, that's for sure.

Marvel continues to evolve plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the TV show Moon Knight has now been cancelled.

Marvel Studios is in the middle of a pivot for its ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while subtly changing the direction of something so large and lumbering takes time, there are occasional markers laid down that give us a clear sense of where things are heading.

One such marker is today’s announcement from Marvel Television executive Brad Winderbaum, stating that Moon Knight won’t be getting a second season.

Those expecting a second season of the Disney+ miniseries Moon Knight, starring Oscar Isaac as the titular Marc Spector/Moon Knight and Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow, shouldn’t hold their breath. However, per ComicBook, Marvel does have plans for the character to return at some point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future,” Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum told the outlet. “And moving forward, our priorities have shifted. Moon Knight will return to the MCU, but it might not be in the way fans expected. The titularly titled Moon Knight debuted on Disney+ on March 30, 2022, and was the first MCU Disney+ show not based on a previously established character, kicking off a wave of new heroes being introduced on the small screen, like Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 is just a little over a week away from hitting Disney+, but fans might not need to wait much longer for Season 2, as it could be coming to the screen way sooner than expected. Originally announced back in 2022 to be an 18-episode season, Born Again was then split into two, nine-episode seasons, with the first part airing in 2025, ten years after Daredevil first debuted. While fans have gotten used to waiting years between streaming series — and in many MCU Disney+ series cases, not even getting a second season — Daredevil: Born Again looks to be the start of a new era, even though it is a continuation of the Daredevil series that aired on Netflix from 2015 to 2018.

The likelihood of Moon Knight Season 2 is not looking good after new comments from one of Marvel's top executives.

After hitting big with Season 1 of his solo series in 2022, Moon Knight has been a virtual no-show in the MCU for nearly three years. 

The character's only recent appearance came in the opening episode of the animated What If...? Season 3, but there are no signs pointing to if or when he will be back in a live-action setting. Now, after so much time away, there are legitimate concerns about if and when fans will see the powerful hero again.

Moon Knight has quickly become one of the most popular superheroes in the MCU, thanks to the success of his solo Disney+ series. As with many Disney+ shows, Moon Knight was designed as a limited series with a set number of episodes, following the platform’s common approach.

However, rules are made to be broken. Despite the series wrapping up in a seemingly definitive way, fans have been holding out hope for a Moon Knight Season 2 for quite some time.

About a month ago, director Mohamed Diab, who worked on the show, reignited speculation about the character’s return. He emphasized that nothing is ever truly over with Marvel and expressed his eagerness to be involved in future projects featuring Moon Knight.

While no plans are currently in motion, Diab values his strong relationship with Marvel—leaving the door open for potential opportunities.

Now Brad Winderbaum head of Marvel Studios’ Television & Streaming shattered those hopes.

Rumors that a second season of Moon Knight might be in development have been doing the rounds for quite a while now, but it doesn't sound like we will be getting more episodes of the Disney+ series. Of course, this doesn't mean we won't be seeing Marc Spector (and his various other personalties) in the MCU again.

Shortly after the first season aired back in 2022, star Oscar Isaac appeared alongside EP/director Mohammed Diab in a TikTok shared by the latter's niece, who asked if we're going to get a second season of Moon Knight. "Why else would we be in Cairo," Isaac replied.

Fans took this as confirmation that the show would return, but nothing ever came of it, and Marvel Television's Brad Winderbaum shared a disappointing update while speaking to Comicbook.com about Daredevil: Born Again.

We've been seeing plenty of that since 2021, when WandaVision premiered to rave reviews and officially brought the MCU into a new era.

There have been over 10 shows to stream on Disney Plus since then, and they have achieved varying levels of success. Among them was Moon Knight, which also earned praise for how it convincingly brought the titular hero to the franchise for the first time, giving audiences the live-action adaptation that they were hoping for.
