Call Her Daddy's Alex Cooper Gets Booed by Chicago Cubs Fans for Her Animated 7th Inning Stretch Performance
Image
Alex Cooper didn’t win over any new fans with her appearance at the Chicago Cubs game over the weekend.

The 30-year-old Call Her Daddy podcast host performed the song “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh inning stretch at the game on Sunday night (July 6) at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Ill.

Alex was there as part of a “Big Al’s Takeover” event and she was joined by some friends as her backup dancers for a choreographed performance.

Shortly after the performance began, fans began booing and they didn’t stop until after the performance was over. Alex wasn’t fazed by the reaction and continue to sing and laugh along with her friends. She didn’t seem to take the performance too seriously, which probably upset the fans.

You can watch the video below.

ESPN, MLB resume conversations over potential new deal
Image
The two sides ended their relationship earlier this year, but a new report indicates the split might not be permanent.

Is 2025 the last season that the Worldwide Leader in Sports will broadcast MLB games? Maybe not. ESPN and MLB seemed set on a divorce in February, when they exercised mutual opt-out clauses that seemingly pointed to the end of their relationship. But a new report from The Athletic indicates that ESPN and MLB are talking about a deal once again, one that could be quite different from their former relationship.

Key Details: Early days: The resumed discussions between MLB and ESPN are said to be in the initial stages. Going local: A new deal between ESPN and MLB could feature local rights. Bite of the apple: Apple has also been discussed as a potential home for ESPN’s former package of MLB rights. Sign Up Now $11.99+ / month espnplus.com

Major League Baseball Didn’t Want Legalized Betting Outside Nevada, Says Commissioner Rob Manfred
Image
Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred claims his sport didn’t want sports betting outside of Nevada.

In an interview with The Dallas Morning News ahead of the All-Star Game at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, Manfred said pro baseball opposed the overturning of the 2018 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that restricted legalized wagering to Nevada.

Baseball has long been wary of gambling affecting the game’s integrity. The sport suffered gambling incidents as far back as 1919, when players on the Chicago White Sox were accused of throwing World Series games. More recently, the sport saw gambling incidents result in a lifetime ban of all-time hits leader Pete Rose, and a murky scandal involving Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and his interpreter.

“Once you had the Supreme Court decision, I don’t see it going backward,” said Manfred.

Now, 38 states and Washington, D.C. have regulated sports betting.

Is Suicide Squad Going to Be Fun?
One big question remains for summer movie season 2016.

“This movie is probably going to be bad.”

“Nah, I think it looks fun.”

These are the deep philosophical discussions that occur here at Reject HQ between myself and Theo Broxson after we’ve seen the same Suicide Squad TV spot for the 11th time during Sunday Night Baseball on Espn. I’m not a big baseball person, but he certainly is. Which means that while he’s tracking Madison Bumgarner’s curveball, I’m tracking commercials and observing the marketing strategies of Hollywood’s summer offerings. All of this because there was no Game of Thrones last night.

Back to the philosophical question at hand: Is Suicide Squad going to be a fun, exciting film to close out a rather dismal summer movie season? Or will my good friend Theo’s skepticism — likely a product of the disappointment of Batman v Superman — be confirmed? With...

Major League Baseball and Espn extended their television contract through 2021 on Tuesday, a deal that almost doubles the amount of money the network will pay annually for baseball content while also all but eliminating local blackouts for Espn games on Monday and Wednesday nights. The deal was announced on Tuesday. It combines rights for TV, radio, digital and international that had been separate. The new single contract adds new rights to air a wild-card game, along with additional rights to highlights and digital content. It also gives the network more flexibility to show games involving popular teams.

Dodger Great Orel Hershiser Joining Espn 'Sunday Night Baseball'
Orel Hershiser in Bob Hope's Jolly Christmas Show (1988)
If you look at the picture of Orel Hershiser on the right, you might think he's a pretty unimposing guy. However, the former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher is something of an Einstein when it comes to playing the game of baseball. Therefore, it makes perfect sense and is a brilliant move that he will be joining Espn's 'Sunday Night Baseball' broadcast as an analyst.

Hershiser should have been put in the booth as soon as he was signed with Espn, but all good things in their time. Now the former Mvp, Cy Young award winner and World Series champ will be lending his expertise to the broadcast anchored by Jon Miller, the play by play guy, and former Cincinnati Reds star Joe Morgan as the lead analyst.
