quirky, off-beat and un-Bollywood-y Hindi film

*** no spoilers *** I really liked the movie, nowadays most Bollywood movies are too dark subjects, biopics or overdramatise stories, so we need more like this soulful and lighthearted movies. Although characters need more depth story line but movie filled with basic human values , which shows there is a soft corner for every person who we think might be cruel adding to this the movie shows the society still values for good people. Mithila's action as an innocent girl is top notch and funny , Abhay deol's and Mithila's small moments of chemistry are heart touching . Overall the movies is worth a watch .

A very well attempt

A different premise. A different way of story telling. An attempt which needs to be appreciated. Very well acted & well crafted. Give it a try it definitely has its moments. Camera angles, editing, symbolism & so much more. A study material for an indie Filmaker.

The perfect refreshing weekend watch!

Don't be fooled by the 6.x rating, this movie is definitely a 7 or greater on every parameter! Mithila is really good as is Abhay Deol, Vijay Raj needs no recommendations. The movie is adequately paced. The plot is quirky with some really good dialogue writing. The performances, writing and direction makes it a refreshing mix to watch.

On the weaker side, It goes slow for a while, and also seems over the top at times, but overall the pace and tight storytelling compensates for that. The climax might feel a bit abrupt, but leaves a fulfilling emotion.

Highly recommended for a weekend watch with family.

Chopsticks Review

Chopsticks is a sweet Drama-Comedy by Netflix. The Story basically revolves around a girl Nirma (Mithila Palkar) whose brand new car has been stolen & her only aim is to find her car, in the process she seeks the help from a con man named Artist (Abhay Deol). The Story directly starts with a showroom scene with Nirma buying a new car & giving a small hint of her character & her professional life. Then it directly goes to turning point where a con man steals her car. This doesn't help the audience to empathize much with her character. It would have been better if the story would have started with her personal & professional life problems & on that her only happiness of buying a new car & then moving to a point where it gets stolen would have created a much more impact on audience. The second flaw in the movie is directly focusing more on internal change of her character as the movie moves forward whereas it should have been like Nirma focusing on the ways to get her car back & in this process find the potential in herself. No doubt the idea of the story is good but some more work on the script would have made it a wonderful film.

Little Treat

Abhay Deol, a fine actor and there is no doubt. But there is new girl on the screen, well not new for many but at least I watched her for the first time and she is Mithila Palkar. A cool, simple, nice and a cute addition, with beautiful and simplest of acting, 10/10 for the role. A very nice weekend watch, do see.

The girl, the con- man and a goat

This small movie on Netflix, made my Sunday. It stars Abhay Deol, Mithila Palkar and Vijay Raaz. It's about a small town girl, working in Mumbai, whose car gets stolen. That's when she meets the con man played by Abhay Deol. Vijay Raaz plays the bhaai, who has a goat. The movie is breezy. You can relate to the girl and her office trouble. Abhay Deol is a treat to watch in his white shirt and blue denim. He needs to be more on the screens. So understated. So brilliant. Ofcourse Mithila Palkar fitted the role of Nirma perfectly. This movie will make you smile at the end of it. If for nothing, watch it for Abhay Deol. I watched it yesterday, which was a Sunday. It was a perfect weekend movie. I promise you won't regret it. You will walk away with a smile.

Simple and Soothing

A simple concept with brilliant performance. Being a fan of Abhay Deol I might sound biased but he was as usual good at whatever he did. Good time passing movie.

Excellent

Having viewed early reviews online, not many were positive. I recommend you watch this movie and make your own opinion.

Its different than your normal run-in-the-mill movie, its fun, smart, emotional all in one. Both Abhay Deol and Mithila Palkar take your attention, Abhay as the street smart artist (pun intended) and Mithila as the naive girl.

The movie left me thinking about my life, and may do the same for you :)

This movie should've been a short film

Incredibly slow and empty plot that goes nowhere and has a lot of filler. Even as a short film, this would've sucked, but at least I wouldn't have wasted my 2 hrs on it.

Abhay Deol : The Road less taken

I remember when Abhay Deol was doing movies like DevD, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Manorama 6ft Under, Socha Na Tha, there wasn't much space in Bollywood for movies like those as it was a gamble. He never got to be the most successful commercially, but whenever there would be a talk of bringing about change in Bollywood from masala musical movies to artistic thought provoking cinema or dark or satirical; Abhay Deol for me would be the name at the top. Sure Nawazuddin Siddiqui is mostly mentioned when talking about this changing genre of films along with Anurag Kashyap which is ofcourse true. But Abhay Deol was the first guy to start taking those risks especially considering he belongs to one of the top n most successful families i.e. Deol Family. Happy to see Abhay Deol back on screen with a lot more platforms to perform with online streaming playforms. What i mean is Abhay Deol indeed is truly an "ARTIST"

Simple, Warm & Clean

A film like these come once in a while and go out invisible to the mass audience. The film has some good acting (Abhay excluded, he can choose films but his acting reminds me of Amool Palekar - Bland). The music too is quite OK. It's a very clean film, apart from a dialogue or two, even kids can watch it. Mithila suits the role and does well while Abhay too suits well for his role. Vijay Raaz is as usual brilliant. Worth a watch - Available on Netflix.

Physical manifestation of a shoddy script

This is perhaps one of the worst scripts ever written. The childish plot and the cringe worthy dialogues make this film a horrible experience. The characters are disturbingly pretentious and hollow.

The whole movie made no sense at all. The makers had no idea what they wanted to make. And top of that this movie is pain stakingly slow.

Awful music. The music wasn't even fitting with the theme of the film. I am not even sure whether there was any intended theme for this film.

Boring film. Highly advised to not watch the film. Do not waste your time please.

Light hearted Flick!

The movies revolves around a superstitious girl and her stolen car. A very simple girl who lives a life of amusement and excitement finding her stolen car. It's a simple movie and refreshing. The basic plot of the movie is really good but something was missing.

A perfect Time Out, fun-time, First Date movie.

That was a good feel-good movie. The jokes were genuine and I cracked so hard. It was breath of fresh air unlike other bollywood releases which rely on same old generic ingredients. Movie wasn't over-the-top neither wasn't boring. Character presentation was fresh, with strong acting by both the leads, they made it relateable. Vijay Raaz can play that character right out of bed and he's brilliant. Anyhow, I liked this movie as a whole.

Nice movie

Nice movie. Dialogues and interactions between protagonist are really good. For example nick names for his pet dogs in the car. Few scenes are meticulous. In one scene where they were making briyani for bahuballi's birthday. One guy with helmet was cutting onions. That's an intelligent way to avoid tears and they replicated real scenarios.

Amazing story telling, direction, casting and acting

I loved the way this simple story is being told.

Direction is clean. Casting and acting is superb.

Mithila palkar, you rock dude. All other supporting cast is also superb.

At the end of the movie, you will have a smile on your face and will pray such amazing stories be told again and again.

Well executed

Abhay "Dark" Deol, Mithila "Mirchi" Palkar, in a different , off the trend movie, about getting stolen car back. A bit hypothetical yet watchable.

A Comedy that's not a Comic Relief

Though it comes with ensemble of creatives but it fails to serve what audience may have been looking for after the promising trailor which created an ooz amongst the viewers, specially for the fans of Abhay Deol. Time and again the anticipation wasn't answered as the dialogues and script lacked in good, slapstick or sarcastic which was an essential for a film to fall under this genre. The comic is repeated and some scenes comes with lengthy built-ups which makes the viewer to reach the sagging point. The sequences comes in jolts. Might be a simple watch but not for those who're looking for comic relief. Capisce.

Netflix, please make more of such cinema.

Such a beautiful movie, like a breath of fresh air. Netflix does it again. So quirky and zany, much better than the kind of cinema we are getting these days. I can't understand the low ratings of this movie on imdb. The performances are top notch. Abhay Deol,, Mithila Palkar are in top form. Special shout out for Vijay Raaz, who is so natural and flawless. All in all a feel good movie with memorable characters. Hope they keep churning out such cinema.

Not a typical Bollywood movie.

Whenever I start watching a Bollywood movie I pray for it to not be another Bollywood cliché and thank God it wasn't. It was worse than that! Utmost boring and casting Abhay Deol as a cool conman? Are you kidding me? He was nowhere near that character. This movie could've been a lot better if they had casted any other actor than Dell.

Entertaining

The movie was complete timepass and perfectly made for the OTT platform's audience. It was light on comedy and good in entertainment. The cast was really good and delivered a satisfying performance. I wouldn't say you'll miss anything special by not watching this movie but you won't regret watching it either. The movie was decent.
