Why would you give 1 star?

Ok this is not the best series out there but did people become so picky they only put a decent amount of stars to the top of the top level shows?? This is a very decent simple show that got me hooked from the beginning to the end. Yes it's slower than average, yes the story is not the craziest ever and no you don't need to use your brain to understand it... But it's not advertised as the new Dark or Hunting Of Hill House so take it as it is: a new paranormal thrillerish show from Italy! I'm glad I didn't check the reviews so I wasn't influenced by them at all. Too bad some of you won't watch it because of all those undeserved terrible 1 or 2 stars.

Not for everyone

Can't believe people give this a one star rating while rating the endless flow of proper junk Hollywood push's these days eight stars. I'm sorry but the world has gone crazy.

In my opinion this show (although not award nomination worthy or likely to gain any cult following) is at least laced with some of that old school passion. I feel I'm being entertained by someone with a love for film making and not arrogantly subverted by someone with a political agenda (I'm sure you know what I mean.) Rather refreshing if you ask me. All that said it feels like a student film to me, kept me watching till the end which Didnt unfold quite the way I unexpected.

Take note most of the one star reviews watched the entire season and then complain about being entertained by a show not solid or as good as "Dark" seems a little unfair to me as it clearly is not of the same budget and what not as a show like Dark.

Could have been much better..

Curon is a mysterious village in Italy. A mother returns to Curon with her children, but her past experiences start haunting her family.

The series is good and watchable. The storyline is good but there's nothing wow in the entire series. It was predictable, though there's an eerie feeling in the show at times. The storyline still has a potential for a much better seasons in the future.

I'm just giving a 6 in the hope that the season 2 has a better storyline with some unpredictable twists.

nonsensical story with predictable and illogical twists and too many flaws

The actors are okay, given what they had to work with. And the main characters might be clichéd, but that's not bad at all. That's just the way many stories work. The camera, editing and music are good. So there's an enough creepy, eerie vibe to it, that I wanted to know where it goes and watched all episodes.

But the story is incoherent, has too many plot holes and lacks character development. Some things seem to happen for no other reason than creating effects. There's an easy to understand, yet very plain story with wolves that makes the show a bit cheap. On the other hand we have the main characters, a family cursed apparently for no reason, because there's never an explanation. But this would be one of the most important things to know! Also the curse works different on some people. Why? The twists are either predictable or illogical. Last but not least at some parts the German synchronization is cringe worthy, especially the South Tyrolean dialect sounds utterly ridiculous. The English version isn't better.

The end of this season with a boring, quite predictable cliffhanger was enough for me. So I wouldn't watch a second one. But see for yourself!

Compared to the French Netflix production Marianne, which I found very entertaining and had a proper synchronization, but unfortunately got cancelled already after one season, it would be a shocking surprise, if they went on with this one.

to those, who claim, there's no need to use your brain to "understand" : well, this might be the main motto of the orange rumpelstiltskin of the USA and the biggest problem of our world ;) cheers

OK, yet not compelling enough for another season

Curon was just ok. The seven episodes of season one are left feeling confused since the show is not sure of what genre its going for - suspense, horror, supernatural - other than it all being overlaid with teen angst and parental turmoil in a small Austrian/Italian village. I mostly enjoyed it, but I wouldn't bother if another season is in the making.

There is a lot of room for improvement

Curon - A village in Alto Adige in northern Italy - and a misterious lake with an horrific curse...

The basic idea looked quite interesting to me, also because I drive through the town every year - I once even toutched the tower. Sadly, the story could have been much better. It is very predictable, you can tell what will come up next and the ongoing of the plot is neither very creative or innovative, nor some kind of thrilling. The story does with the idea of a cursed lake what you expect it to do. When you watch closely and overthing some things happening, you can even find some plot holes.

In addition, I have my problems with the characters. They aren't very deep and easy replaceable, most of them just filling up positions in the story you need a character for. We got the "Netflix-typical" teenagers you get tired of so easy. The one shy guy, the one bad guy, the gay one...

Nevertheless four stars for the good basic idea and the basically more or less entertaining bits.

Gothic/Folk Horror

Curon: Set in the Italian Tyrol there's a lot of duality going on and not just languages. Anna returns to her old family home with her teen twin children, She left 17 years ago when her mother committed suicide. But she has dreams in which something far darker happened. Her father lives alone in the family keep with his pet wolf. The local villagers don't like the family, they blame them for a past tragedy when the valley flooded. Great scenes of a submerged church, only it's bell tower rising above the lake. Doppelgangers also emerge from the lake,. Interesting horror with both Gothic and Folk twists. An interesting concept but could have been handled better, direction is lack lustre at times and the chronology holding the tale together doesn't always quite fit, a problem all too common in dramas. Still the acting is good and this series is worth watching. 7/10. On Netflix.

Cringe worthy all the way

Comparing this show to Dark is like comparing Fiat to Porsche. I was tempted to turn it off a couple of times but still gave it a chance. What a waste of time. One dimensional characters and no real surprises.

It was not bad!

I mean people are criticizing this series.. I admit it that it wasn't horror .. but it was mysterious and suspenseful. The twins were great!I actually liked this show. Makers made a fault by saying this a HORROR SERIES. That's it.

Got tired of waiting for it to be scary or interesting

After 4 episodes, little has occurred beyond teen drama and underage drinking. The first episode was intriguing, then it just fizzles out into a cookie cutter teen non-thriller.

Not bad at all

I started watching Curon to just kill time, as I couldn't find something good to watch and to my surprise I wasn't disappointed. The storyline is good, the acting is not bad. A bit slow, but who cares. Curon was not a bad watch.

I honestly liked it

Ok, this may not be the best show ever, but let's be honest: there are way worse shows out there. The main story is gripping and the photography is wonderful. I honestly enjoyed watching it and I'm looking forward to season 2. So don't be fooled by the negative reviews and give it a try!

No horror here

Thought this was an actual horror serie similar to The Haunting of Hill House, found a dumb teen lesbian story instead

Could Have Been Good

Quick review: bad acting and whomever did the music thinks they're a DJ in Ibiza, it's way too loud and just plain awful techno for the most part.

Pity because the idea is ok and with some refinement it could have been good

It winds up just a shallow lake

A concept about changeling/doppelganger is pretty awesome if you could write a good story about it. Curon tried but unfortunately it just fell short my expectation.

Good thing about this series is *again* the concept. A changeling. It is, of course, terrifying and they tried to bring it to screen. But Curon is lack of thrill, shallow character development (even wasted character development in the end). I can say, it is poor written. The number of episode is also baffling, it feels too short but on other hand, it feel too long. If it was a 90-minutes movie or it is downright horror, maybe it could end up better.

The main casts are just lack of exploration. It feels like it just an ordinary teen that just trying to unlock some mystery with their angst and drama. Nothing less, nothing more. Nothing's going on them, even when you wish there's something come out from the water for them, it didn't. That is my failed expectation.

The best part of this series is maybe The Lucas' sequence. It's fairly good act, and good thrill too. His sequence alone could make you understand what the film is about.

Don't please don't

Starts like stranger things or dark, small town..paranormal things happening, things are suppose to get interesting with each episodes but here it keeps getting more and more absurd and stupid. A curse which makes no sense, with zero motive - random things keep happening with every episode and it does not end. Waste of time and energy. Pure rubbish, do your self a favour and DO NOT WATCH THIS!

Enjoyable

Get past the first episode which is admittedly not great (overbearing music to create a 'horror' feel when the show is not a horror) and you'll find it's an enjoyable show with engaging characters. I'd probably give it a 7.5/10 but have scored higher to counter balance the people giving it a ridiculously low rating - it's far better than they're making out! I see a lot of comparisons to Stranger Things and Dark: why? Completely different shows, don't expect similarities. Very interested in seeing the story continue and I hope the bad reviews don't ruin its chances

Watched all the 7 episodes of the entire season in one go. Watch it if you liked "DARK".

7 episodes that could've been made into a 90mins movie & u'll still think its too long.

Its tries to be like DARK (german) but with zero depth or like glee with zero singing, jus pure unlikeable teens drama. turn it on, go for a marathon & when u come back u'lll still miss nothing.

Worth watching

It is definitely NOT a 5,7 series. Don't get overwhelmed by the ratings. If you're into easy watching thrillers you'll like it.

Very interesting.

The backgroun music was to loud and made it difficult to ear the actors. the suspense was good and a bit slow it took some time to get my interest. Not a bad serie, and was worth watching untill the end.
