My favorite part of Kingdom Hearts 2 is roxas story at the beginning. A person who were not supposed to exist, that exist and don't want to not exist.
And it has the feeling of a lazy afternoon in the summer and the music hits it perfectly. The last day of vacation where schoolwork is on your mind, but you want to enjoy the last moments of vacation.
The world begins to slowly break down and roxas begin to think he's losing his mind and then sommer vacation is over. It always makes me cry.
It looks amazing to this day still, the art style just doesn't age. The only place where it can feel its age is when the face models go potato mode.
Voice acting so good, like they can sell this script and give it the right balance between sincere and corny. I really enjoyed the story The Script is very Japanese in the best possible way, and I think this is the best written gaming in Kingdom Hearts series. Especially dialog wise.
The music feels like a comfy blanket and especially Twilight Town, but all the other parts of the game works wonderfully to make you feel like that Disney movie, and all their original music to Kingdom Hearts part has been stuck in my brain since 2006.
Compare to its predecessor, this put all its point into fleshy fast combat that still amazing to this day. The boss fights are flashy and fun and just works perfectly and are some of the most memorable part of the game, especially with the awesome music and triangle button events, work so well to make the fights more dynamic.
In my opinion this game has some of the best Boss fights of all time.
Critical mode is one of the best additions, god damn it's such a fun difficulty you damage a lot the boss's damage a lot, it's just makes the boss fight so much shorter but more impactful, because every decisive move and attack Matter.
In comparison level design feels flat, it's mostly just big rooms that are designed for combat, there are no longer terrain puzzles like in the first game, where it was a puzzle just to find out where your were to supposed to go and interactable elements to think out.
I'm not a fan of how much in Final Mix they added from Birth by Sleep, I thought the story was simple and Clean and good. Didn't need any more additions, because I'm not a fan of the games that come after KH2.
But oh my god, this is my favorite game of all time, phenomenal dialogue, the boss rush the comes at the last part is It's just amazing. And the ending is so conclusive, it feels so nice. I don't need the other games that come after, this is just the Perfect ending for the series.

- TriviaAs Sora's new Drive Form, the Limit Form was not in Kingdom Hearts II (2005), it is the only Drive Form that Genie cannot imitate when he is used as a Summon.
- GoofsWhile in the original version of Kingdom Hearts II (2005) the tile for Ienzo/Zexion in the Proof of Existence representing his weapon was cracked because his weapon was not known prior to the release of this game and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories (2007), in this version his tile is still cracked even though his weapon symbol is still seen elsewhere for the Absent Silhouette and Data Battles, as this bit was not cleaned up for the Final Mix version.
- Alternate versionsRemastered in HD and released as part of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix (2014) on the PS3, which was also released outside of Japan for the first time. Later ported over to the PS4 and released as part of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix (2017).
