Did Netflix just drop a surprise for The Walking Dead fans?(Photo Credit –YouTube)
Netflix has quietly dropped a bombshell for zombie apocalypse fans, and it’s one that’s bound to hook you within minutes. Without any grand announcements, all episodes of what many are calling “the best show on TV” have landed on the platform and if you’ve been craving the next big thing in The Walking Dead universe, your search is over.
A Surprise Arrival For US Viewers
The series that has already started receiving significant attention is ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City,’ the spin-off that refuses to be just another offshoot. It is a thrilling expansion of Robert Kirkman’s beloved comic book world and the series takes fan-favorite characters and shoves them into a New York City unlike anything seen before—isolated, decayed, and overrun with dangers beyond just the undead.

This post contains spoilers for the "Walking Dead" franchise.
Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's "The Walking Dead" comic book series begins in the heart of chaos. Rick Grimes, a deputy shot in the line of duty, wakes up from a coma and finds himself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. This shock of witnessing the world on the brink of collapse is superseded by the urge to survive, which leads Rick to a group of survivors. One would think that reuniting with one's family would be a happy occasion, but a nation overrun with zombies proves to be the cause of unimaginable grief and heartbreak. Indeed, after Rick reunites with his wife and son, a series of everyday obstacles and moral dilemmas await him, forever changing the man he used to be when he woke up from his coma.
Kirkman, however, does not tell us how the zombie apocalypse came to be.

When Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead franchise, first developed the idea of a zombie apocalypse, he gave very little thought to the question of how and why the zombie virus was created. While writing The Walking Dead comic book series, which debuted in 2003 and ended in 2019 after 193 issues, Kirkman deliberately avoided revealing the zombie virus origin in favor of focusing on character development and the various moral dilemmas resulting from the zombie apocalypse.
This character-based philosophy carried over to the flagship The Walking Dead television series, which, following the show’s debut in 2010 till its final episode in 2022, largely avoided dealing directly with the science behind the zombie apocalypse, especially the virus origin. However, after avoiding the subject for over a decade, the origin mystery was finally resolved in the final episode of The Walking Dead spin-off limited series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, in which it...

The spinoff miniseries The Walking Dead: Dead City brings back old characters and actors while introducing new cast members to further fill out the franchise. The Walking Dead: Dead City follows Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) after the events of The Walking Dead as they travel to New York City to rescue Maggie’s son, Hershel (Logan Kim). Sometime between the end of The Walking Dead and the spinoff series, Hershel has been captured by “The Croat” and brought to New York City, which is completely overtaken by walkers and anarchist gangs.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Younger!
The TV Land comedy Younger, which stars Sutton Foster and Hilary Duff, includes numerous established actors across seven seasons, creating lovable and entertaining characters. The show follows a 40-year-old divorcee mom named Liza Miller, who lies about her age to get an assistant job at a publishing house. Younger built a large fanbase across six years, garnering numerous nominations at the Critics' Choice Awards, People's Choice Awards, and Teen Choice Awards.
Besides the wacky premise, the show thrives thanks to the incredible cast. Though Liza is the lead, many of her friends, coworkers, and love interests have the same amount of time and character development in Younger, making them just as enjoyable as the quirky aspiring editor. Luckily, the cast consists of numerous established actors and a handful of standout up-and-comers who make even the most hateable character fun to watch.

Going Dutch, Denis Leary's new military sitcom, premiered on Fox last week. Now, you can see Leary's Colonel Patrick Quinn assess one of his new subordinates in an exclusive Collider sneak peek from this week's episode. "Thanks for Nothing," the second episode of the series, will air tonight, January 9, on Fox. The clip opens with Colonel Quinn and his aide-de-camp, Major Abraham Shaw (Danny Pudi) dressing down the literally dressed-down base It director, Elias Papadakis, who's breaking every regulation possible — he's out of shape, he needs a haircut, and he's wearing a G.I. Joe costume. Unfortunately, before they can get him into more acceptable condition, Colonel Quinn's archrival, General Davidson arrives.

The Walking Dead's plans for 2025 aren't quite as noteworthy as the two years prior, but there's no sign of this zombie franchise taking a headshot. Over the course of 15 years, Robert Kirkman's creation has evolved into a veritable juggernaut of television, diversifying into a catalog of The Walking Dead spinoffs. Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond ran parallel to the main show, while Tales of the Walking Dead offered a more unique, standalone flavor.
Since The Walking Dead season 11's ending in 2022, however, the franchise has been upheld by three newer spinoffs, each starring a duo from the main cast. The Walking Dead: Dead City focused upon Lauren Cohan's Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan. Daryl Dixon brought back Norman Reedus as the title character and, eventually, Melissa McBride's Carol. The Ones Who Live reunited Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes with Danai Gurira's Michonne.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently discussed what it was like returning to the role of Negan in The Walking Dead: Dead City. The series is the first sequel to AMC's The Walking Dead television series.
Speaking with Collider, Morgan talked about the upcoming second season of Dead City and fans' excitement to see Negan reunited with Lucille -- the wooden baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire that Negan uses to kill his enemies. "Well, I freaked out. I didn’t realize how much I missed her, not only as Negan, but as myself," Morgan said. "Just getting to hold that damn bat again adds something to that character and the swagger and the confidence and the humor that Negan has. It’s been sorely missed."

Fans of The Walking Dead were devastated when the series concluded its eleven-season run in 2022. Characters come and go on The Walking Dead, meaning a lot of guest stars have paid their due time in the zombie apocalypse. The Walking Dead was like the Grey's Anatomy of apocalyptic shows, where actors would star for one or two episodes until they met their fictional death. A lot of these actors were already pretty big in the industry before signing on, and for some, The Walking Dead was their big break.
The Walking Dead didn't start attracting notable guest stars until around Season 6, likely because of the critically acclaimed fifth season. Once the main cast started getting into the double digits, often making it too hard to count, the deaths started racking up. But to be on The Walking Dead for a short time was a rite of passage for a lot of actors, and a fun time to experiment with gory death scenes.

28 Years Later Finally Gets Revenge On The Walking Dead After The Zombie Series Copied 28 Days Later
The Walking Dead and 28 Days Later are two of the biggest zombie franchises out there, but the film series has finally gotten its revenge over a decade after Robert Kirkman's IP mimicked its opening. Although 28 Days Later's creator claims it isn't a zombie movie, the film's Infected has all the classic traits of zombies, making it one of the most influential projects in the subgenre. Its creativity and horror elements helped inspire plenty of other zombie media, including The Walking Dead, as the show's opening episode seems extremely reminiscent of Danny Boyle's cinematic masterpiece.
With the comic series starting in 2003 and the televised adaptation arriving in 2010, The Walking Dead has become one of the most recognizable zombie franchises around and remains relevant today. The Walking Dead is a vast franchise that still dominates horror TV entertainment, but there is still a great deal of controversy concerning the long-running series. Some of this controversy is based on lackluster spin-offs, such as Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond. However, whether it's concerning a popular series or not, there are certain aspects of the franchise that failed to impress.
Many of the best storylines in the series came early on in each show, developing the characters and showing how they survive within the post-apocalyptic world. On the other hand, many storylines completely failed to impress the viewers, offering overused tropes, out-of-character decisions, and unoriginal conflicts. Many viewers agree that the storylines in The Walking Dead deserve the hate they get.

When Rick Grimes left The Walking Dead, the viewers who stopped watching the show missed some great scenes and details that happened afterward. The loss of its main protagonist was a turning point for the Walking Dead franchise, and Rick's departure set up a quest that still concerns major Walking Dead characters today. Several of the Walking Dead spin-offs are centered on characters searching for Rick, like Daryl and Morgan. That said, each of these spin-offs has become bigger than this initial quest, just as the original Walking Dead show became much more than a zombie survival series.
Rick Grimes redefined the title "The Walking Dead," which refers to the people who survived the apocalypse rather than the walkers themselves. Over time, the Walking Dead's focus on the walkers shifted to the human protagonists and their militaristic enemies, who are much more dangerous than any walker. The Walking Dead universe...

TV character deaths were always a dramatic affair, but some managed to return to their respective shows in various ways. Several of the best TV shows of all time killed off their characters, only to bring them back at a later date. While some of these characters were brought back to life, others appeared in other forms.
Many tragic TV show deaths had to happen, but others were unnecessary. A lot of these character revivals were the result of backlash from audiences, but some were part of the narratives plans. Whether it was because of a retcon, actor decision, or story choice, these TV characters amazingly returned to their shows despite being dead.

Ever since The Walking Dead premiered in 2010, the main mystery of the TV franchise has been how the zombie apocalypse started. For the most part, the comics and the shows have always been very vague about the virus' origin. There are theories that the virus is airborne, and series creator Robert Kirkman has even suggested it's possible that it came from a spore that fell from space. However, as The Walking Dead's timeline has expanded, more hints have surprisingly been revealed that point to the potential origin of the Walking Dead zombie outbreak.
The most notable hint towards the origin of the virus came in the post-credits scene of The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2, which moved away from the Civic Republic Military storyline and to a French science lab. If what is revealed in this scene is true, then the origin of the virus in The Walking Dead...

Among the most fundamental parts of a TV show are the characters in it. For a story to work, its lead actors must successfully embody their roles and conquer the interests and hearts of the audience. However, some TV series go on for years and their leads might not be able to keep up with a show's schedule. Whether for personal or professional motives, when a lead TV actor leaves their role, it is always a painful moment for the fans who, after accompanying them through their journey, have usually grown to love the character.
Their absence creates a void. However, sometimes, the same actors can surprise the audience and honor the character's arc by making one last return for the series finale. These heartfelt moments not only provide the audience with one last opportunity to shed tears (or laugh) with their favorites but also bring a sense of closure...

While the topic was once taboo within AMC's post-apocalyptic franchise, The Walking Dead has actually revealed a surprising wealth of information regarding how the zombie outbreak began. The Walking Dead has typically made a point of avoiding the big questions that surround its zombie outbreak, with neither the comic book nor its TV adaptation addressing how the virus itself originated. Across various spinoffs, however, the status quo shifted. Although the mystery remains very far from attaining "case closed" status, the conclusions that can be drawn are vital to understanding The Walking Dead's timeline.
Out of all the Walking Dead shows to emerge from AMC's conveyor belt, only three even attempt to begin answering where the virus came from. The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2's ending did the heavy lifting, with most of the relevant details emanating from a single post-credits sequence. Since then, however, Fear The Walking Dead...

Warning: spoilers ahead for Daryl Dixon season 2, episode 4.
The mystery of how the zombie outbreak started feels one step closer to being answered after a fresh clue dropped in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2. Robert Kirkman's original The Walking Dead comics deliberately avoided revealing the cause of the virus responsible for spreading untold misery across the world, and AMC's TV adaptation followed that lead for a long time. A few scientific details surfaced when Rick's group visited the CDC in season 1, but The Walking Dead quickly backed off, never again approaching the topic of where the virus originated.
As the franchise continues to expand after The Walking Dead's ending, however, those big lore questions are once again coming into focus, with the outbreak's starting point chief among them. The Walking Dead's zombie variants can be divided into types, depending on the abilities they possess and the manner in which they came into existence. For the most part, zombies in The Walking Dead are slow, incapable of mental reason, and driven only by a desire to chomp on the nearest source of flesh. Gradually, however, AMC's zombie apocalypse franchise has introduced higher grades of undead referred to as "variants." Many questions about the true nature of these souped-up zombies remain unanswered, but different classes of variant are already beginning to emerge across The Walking Dead's various shows.
For the purposes of this list, variants will be defined as zombies that are inherently different to a standard victim of The Walking Dead's zombie virus. This excludes regular zombies that have been superficially altered by their environment, such as the rock-covered corpses from The Ones Who Live...

Warning: spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2, episode 4.
The need to resolve a zombie plot hole is even more pressing as The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 reveals additional information about variants. Since their official introduction during season 11, The Walking Dead's zombie variants have been stumbling and scrambling all across the franchise. Unfortunately, the specifics of how and why variants exist, as well as the extent of their abilities, have only been defined in the loosest terms. Each show in AMC's The Walking Dead universe seems to offer its own individual take on the variant concept, raising questions and contradictions aplenty.
The variant twist has prompted much head-scratching since it happened, but viewer scalps are taking extra punishment as more and more conflicting pieces of the puzzle are added, none of which make the overall picture any clearer. One such piece comes in Daryl Dixon season 2, episode 3, "L'Invisible,...

The first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was a rare entry in the post-apocalyptic universe, requiring surprisingly little familiarity with AMCs long-running franchise to enjoy it. The same cant be said of season 2, with the appeal hinging quite a bit on our longing to see Norman Reedus Daryl reunite with Melissa McBrides Carol. That said, Daryl Dixon season 2, subtitled The Book of Carol, delivers on that promised reunion and provides a satisfying continuation to Daryls story as a far-flung traveler desperate to get home, only to instead discover purpose and belonging like he never imagined.

After avoiding the issue for more than 10 years, the mystery of how The Walking Dead virus started was finally explained in spinoff series The Walking Dead: World Beyond. When writing his comic series, Robert Kirkman deliberately chose not to reveal the Twd zombie origins, and throughout the entire story, he never comes close to deciphering the truth. AMC's The Walking Dead also consistently shied away from revealing too much about the zombie virus. The closest The Walking Dead ever came was season 1's CDC episode. However, the Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2 finale post-credits sequence gave the Twd zombies an origin story.
The Walking Dead zombie virus started in Europe. The scene which confirms the origins in World Beyond takes place at a biomedical facility in France. Though long since abandoned, one of the lab's former researchers returns in hopes of continuing her work to discover a cure, but...

More than a decade has gone by since the Twilight Saga ran its course on the big screen, with five movies telling the story of the four books in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. So, of course, it’s time for a franchise revival! While there are some side stories and reimaginings that could still be brought to the screen in live action, that’s not the way things are going right now. Earlier this year, we heard that Lionsgate was developing a Twilight animated series, and now that series is set up at the Netflix streaming service! Netflix also revealed that this animated series is an adaptation of the Midnight Sun novel.
When we first heard that Lionsgate would be taking Twilight to TV, it was said that Meyer was expected to be involved with the series, with Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig serving as executive producers. Feig...

The Walking Dead Universe is the most successful horror TV franchise of the modern era, branching off from the original series to include several popular spinoffs and collections. Though the original show ended in 2022, series such as The Ones Who Live, Daryl Dixon, and Dead City have captured the attention of viewers and kept pop culture engaged in the world of the undead.
Though some shows within the franchise, such as Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, are considered the least successful spinoffs overall, the terror and shock of this post-apocalyptic world has continued to intrigue audiences, even when the episodes occasionally garner more criticism than praise. Throughout the various shows within the franchise, some notable seasons stand out among the rest.

Following news that an upcoming Twilight animated remake was shopping around for streaming services, Netflix has taken on the animated Midnight Sun show. The series is being developed by Lionsgate Television and will be written and produced by Sinead Daly (The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency). Joining Daly as executive producers are Stephenie Meyer (the original author of the Twilight series), Meghan Hibbett, Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, Erik Feig, and Samie Kim Falvey. By all accounts, Midnight Sun will be much better than a straightforwardTwilight remake.
What excites me about this news is that Midnight Sun is itself a retelling of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Meyer essentially wrote a fanfiction of her own work, written from Edward Cullens Pov. Midnight Sun provides much-needed dimension to Edwards character and contextualizes and even makes light of his flaws. Not only this, it also serves to flesh out...

The Walking Dead universe has been expanding since the original series first launched in 2010. There have been several spin-offs, including The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Tales of the Walking Dead, and since the original ended its run, the latest trio, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. There has even been a web series. But the first spin-off came in the form of Fear the Walking Dead, which premiered five years after The Walking Dead and promised a new perspective on the outbreak.
Fear the Walking Dead got off to a great start with a new setting, a new cast of characters, and a chance to see character reactions as the outbreak was discovered,...

Netflix has done it again! The streaming giant knows just how to make its subscriber base happy. We've been hearing about a lot of different book-to-movie or book-to-tv adaptations from Netflix, and this time around, the streamer has announced a new animated series adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s Midnight Sun book!
Don't know who Stephenie Meyer is? Well, she's the author of the bestselling book series Twilight. Yes, the same vampire novels that were adapted into movies that ended up being box-office hits. Those movies are Twilight (2008), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012). Each film continued the beautiful yet unconventional love story between human Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).
