Grummy

10/10

Grummy actually broke me.

I absolutely love this movie. Violet's acting is so pure. I cry everytime. It just shows what imagination can do for someone. Again, this movie is severely sad, but it will always be in my heart. Truly, it reminds me of my childhood, and knowing I've grown, I love it. But this movie is absolutely amazing no matter what. Both the McGraw sisters are great actors, and Violet needs more recognition because, wow. Her crying in this movie, it really got me, and just the emotion she put into it overall is amazing. I'm so glad I found this movie, and now, it is one of my favorites, alike The Black Phone.

the high realism

I suppose, the main virtue of film is its high dose of realism. The abuse of parent against his child and the imaginary universe created by last, as shield against abuser represents the often situation for not so rare childhoods.

In same measuse, the beautiful performance of little girl is precious at whole.

A film to remind dark side of a type of childhood, Grummy being just the toy- imaginary friend who part of us know so well. It is not a comfortable short film and it is far to be a dark fantasy one. It is precise, honest, pretty cold portrait of a reality easy to ignore from outside, difficult to leave it, at mature age, to, not as an experience or ball of terrible memories but as touch of hands working with a clay being yourself.

A hard watch

I think it's tough to give films like this negative reviews. The subject matter is very dark and abuse is so heartbreaking especially when kids are involved. I'm just going to talk about the film making. I think in the right hands this could have been alot more powerful.

The directing duo here feels disjointed. The film doest flow well. I think the costume is amazing and acting is solid enough. This must have been such a hard film to make for Michelline. Hats off to them for even tackling something like this.

Now how do you get James Wan to produce your next film based on this first an only short? That's what seems to happen alot these days. You look at the film makers and their lack of work and it just shows you how much right place, right time comes into play. Social climbing also helps. Also be friends with producers wife. All feels a little un-earned. Let's see how good Cosmetic ends up being. I'm guessing a solid 5/10 just like Annabelle Creation.
