    Man at the Carlton tower

A safecracker played by Nigel Green knocks over a jewelry store and kills a policeman during his escape. Scotland Yard is stumped, so superintendent Allan Cuthbertson turns for help to retired Lee Montague who lives at the swank Carlton Tower. Montague is convinced the killer is Green, an old foe he could never nail, and is drawn into the case when he coincidentally runs into Green's former associate at the Carlton.

Not a bad caper-like entry, though it's short on mystery, can be dull and the leading actor lacks charisma and runs funny and annoyingly asks too many questions instead trying to charm it out of the suspects. However, it's sleekly filmed, features the beautiful Maxine Audley and it's an ok time pass, nothing more.

    • Trivia
Lee Montague's sportscars 1600 RW and 77 RW are actually two of the very earliest E-Type Jaguars ever built. 77 RW was a production prototype and was the actual car which launched the model at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. It still exists and was seen in a 2011 episode of Top Gear (2002). 1600 RW was the first E-Type roadster in right-hand drive ever sold; its first owner was 'Lofty' England, Jaguar's racing team manager and engineer.
