Sex and the City’s 1 Unexpected Death Was Disturbing but Mr Big’s Ultimate Fate Overshadowed It
Image
Sex and the City had its share of shocking deaths, but one disturbing loss was completely overshadowed by Mr. Big’s fate. His dramatic exit in And Just Like That rewrote Carrie’s story, burying a once-devastating moment in its wake.

So, which death got lost in the chaos? And why did Big’s ending steal the spotlight? Turns out, in Satc, heartbreak always finds a way to one-up itself.

Before And Just Like That… shocked fans with Mr. Big’s Peloton-induced exit, Sex and the City delivered a far more chaotic death — Lexi Featherston’s.

The season 6 episode Splat introduced Lexi (Kristen Johnston), a wild, no-filter socialite clinging to NYC’s party scene. But...

"That Was Really Bad": 'Sex and the City' Star Reveals the Carrie Storyline That Still Infuriates Her
Image
Kristin Davis has been part of the Sex and the City franchise ever since the HBO series kicked off in 1998. However, just because the actor has stuck with her character Charlotte York for the better part of the last 27 years, it doesn't mean that she agrees with every decision that the writers make. In a recent episode of the podcast Are You a Charlotte?, Davis — who hosts the show — was asked to select the most shocking moment or storyline in the entire series. She decided to go with Sex and The City: The Movie instead.

Kim Shaw Cast In Ellen Pompeo Natalia Grace Drama ‘Good American Family’
Image
Kim Shaw is set for a heavily recurring role in Good American Family, Hulu’s upcoming eight-episode limited drama series inspired by the story of Natalia Grace, starring and executive produced by Ellen Pompeo.

“Told from multiple points of view, as a means to explore issues of perspective, bias, and trauma, Good American Family is inspired by the disturbing stories surrounding a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism,” according to the synopsis. “But as they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, mystery emerges around her age and background, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is. As they defend their family from the daughter they’ve grown to believe is a threat, she fights her own battle to confront her past and what her future holds, in a showdown that ultimately plays out in the tabloids and the courtroom.

10 Highest-Grossing Rom-Coms Of All Time, Ranked
Image
Romantic comedies are popular because they provide an enjoyable escape from reality. The success of romantic comedies at the box office depends on various factors like marketing, star power, and source material. The highest-grossing romantic comedy films of all time include "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," "Sex & The City: The Movie," "Runaway Bride," "What Women Want," "Pretty Woman," "The Proposal," "Hitch," "Crazy Rich Asians," "Knocked Up," and "There's Something About Mary."

Romantic comedy movies are (mostly) universally loved, given that they are feel-good watches that are the perfect escape from reality, especially because they are oftentimes quite unrealistic. Whether the films do well at the box office can be hit or miss, depending on multiple factors, like marketing, star power, source material, the director, and so on. In particular, these ten romantic comedies saw massive success during their theatrical runs.

Netflix New Releases: October 2023
Image
There are a few standout new releases on Netflix in October, but it’s a rather quiet month on the world’s most popular streaming service otherwise!

Highlights this month include a brand-new series from Spook Master Mike Flanagan. The Fall of the House of Usher is a gothic tale loosely based on the short story of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe, and tells the story of two extremely unpleasant siblings whose family dynasty ends up going to hell in a handbasket. Before you ask: yes, Rahul Kohli is in it. That’s all that a lot of people need to know here (we’re people).

Elsewhere, Netflix is dropping a few interesting-looking docuseries, including one on football legend David Beckham. It promises to be an “intimate portrait” of Beckham, and the filmmakers were apparently granted unprecedented access to the sportsman and his family while making it.

Weapons (2007)
Zach Cregger and New Line Biggest Deal Not Made at Sundance
Weapons (2007)
The biggest deal that occurred during the Sundance Film Festival wasn’t one that went down at the event itself. New Line Cinema emerged triumphant amid an intense bidding war to grab “Weapons” which will be the next film from “Barbarian” director Zach Cregger. Days later, New Line signed a first-look deal with the whole BoulderLight studio itself.

It was a strong statement, following some high-profile departures, that Warner Bros. Discovery is still in the scary movie business and that New Line remains “the house that Freddy built.”

Whether or not BoulderLight Pictures, run by J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, becomes the next Blumhouse or Atomic Monster, two entities that may just merge into a single 1600-lb gorilla of horror movie might, the deal is a sign that losing Walter Hamada – who, to be fair, had been running DC Films since 2018 – to Paramount and watching James Wan potentially make his...

Here’s What’s New on Netflix in October 2022
Matthew Lillard, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, Freddie Prinze Jr., Nicholas Hope, and Neil Fanning in Scooby-Doo (2002)
Early spooky season began in September, but for those late to the party by starting their celebrations in October, Netflix has a great slate of scary and festive films and TV shows on tap. “Scooby Doo” and “Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” will be readily available the first day of the month. Friday, October 7 is a big day for releases, as it will welcome the third season of “Derry Girls,” “Luckies Girl Alive” adapted from Jessica Knolle’s best-selling novel and a new YA spin on ghost stories, “The Midnight Club.”

More book adaptations to keep your eye on for October’s Netflix arrivals include “The School for Good and Evil,” out Oct. 19 and based on the best-selling series by Soman Chainani. A heartrending and heartwarming dose of real life as well as true love can be found in the “From Scratch” series, based on the memoir of the same name by Tembi Locke,...

Relive the Fashion Evolution of Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City
Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon in Sex and the City (1998)
Turtlenecks, ties and teal, oh my! When it comes to fashion icons on Sex and the City, our minds may go straight to our Dior Saddle Bag-loving Carrie Bradshaw, but she isn't the only one in the series making a statement with her clothing—and that's where Miranda Hobbes comes in. Miranda, played by the ever-so-fabulous Cynthia Nixon, has had countless memorable outfits on the original six season series, as well as Sex and the City: The Movie and Sex and the City 2. From turtlenecks to plunging necklines, Miranda's style certainly shifted throughout the years. She started off the series with a more conservative, lawyerly look, and then began to add so more color and femininity to her...

Relive Carrie Bradshaw's Fashion Evolution on Sex and the City
Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon in Sex and the City (1998)
Carrie Bradshaw may easily be one of the most fabulously dressed characters in television history. Over the course of Sex and the City's original six-season run, Carrie, played by the incredible Sarah Jessica Parker, wore everything from chic Manolo Blahnik heels to off-the-runway couture dresses. Carrie's fierce fashion didn't stop, as the blond writer rocked several jaw-dropping looks in the show's follow-ups films, Sex and the City: The Movie and Sex and the City 2. (Shout-out to her Vivienne Westwood wedding dress in the first film). And it seems that this fashion legacy will Carrie—sorry, we just had to—into the Satc revival series, And Just Like That..., which premieres Dec....

‘Harlem’: Andrea Martin, Robert Ri’chard, Juani Feliz, Kate Rockwell & Sullivan Jones To Recur In Tracy Oliver’s Amazon Comedy
Image
Andrea Martin (Great News), Robert Ri’chard (Empire), Juani Feliz (Blue Bloods), Kate Rockwell (Mean Girls: The Musical) and Sullivan Jones (The Surrogate) are set for recurring roles on Amazon’s Harlem, the comedy series from Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip), Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions and Universal TV. They’ll join previously announced Whoopi Goldberg and Jasmine Guy, who also recur.

Created, written and executive produced by Oliver, Harlem, formerly the Untitled Tracy Oliver Project, is a single-camera comedy following the lives of four black women, friends from their college days at NYU, as they navigate sex, relationships and chasing their dreams.

Martin will play Robin, Camille’s passionate feminist mentor at Columbia University. Ri’chard portrays Shawn, Quinn’s sexy, stripper one-night stand who sticks around much longer than she planned. Feliz is Isabela, a local politician on track to beating AOCs record as the youngest member of Congress...

Can ‘Sex and the City’ Survive Without Samantha Jones?
Image
Samantha Jones may have been the one to tell off The Girls over one especially heated lunch in the episode “Frenemies”: “And you can forget Samba!” But the creators of “Sex and the City” are now the ones telling us, “You can forget Samantha Jones!”

Rookie streaming service HBO Max has announced a limited series revival of creator Darren Star’s “Sex and the City,” titled “And Just Like That,” named for one of Carrie’s classic quips whenever the proverbial other shoe (sorry) dropped. But just like that, it’s a predictably amputated version, because Kim Cattrall won’t be returning to the series as Samantha Jones. It’s now up to the writers to find a creative way to write her out of the series

Without Sam Jones, whose freewheeling sexuality defined the series’ very ’90s ethos as much as any of the other women did, the...

Netflix Added 34 New Movies/TV Shows Today To Kick Off 2021
Image
It’s finally time to start shedding off the terrible year of 2020 and begin thinking positively about 2021, and Netflix is making that fairly easy by starting the new year off the right way. With its first content drop of the month, the world’s most popular streaming service is proving how it got that title with a massive selection of movies and shows that are certain to tickle the fancy of subscribers looking for new stuff to watch.

New on Netflix: January 2021 Releases
Jurassic World: La colo du Crétacé (2020)
The first month of a new year is a good time to make a new impression. And that’s just what Netflix seems set on doing with its list of new releases for January 2021.

The streamer is coming out strong with a third season of Cobra Kai, formerly of YouTube Premium. The next installment in Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence’s story is set to arrive…eventually. Netflix has not unveiled a released date yet but it will be during this month. While Cobra Kai is the highlight among Netflix’ original series, it’s not the only one by a long shot. Last year’s fun Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous returns for a second season on Jan. 22 and it will be accompanied by Fate: The Winx Saga. Also, if you’re a fan of things that will one day be .gif’ed to death, the Nicolas Cage-hosted History of Swear Words drops on Jan.

Netflix Is Adding A Ton Of Original Movies/TV Shows Next Month
January is usually referred to as the theatrical industry’s dumping ground, where projects destined to fail are shoved out into the world to die a slow and painful death at the box office. Obviously, next month could see almost every new release face a similar fate as business is still showing no signs of recovery, but Netflix are looking to buck the trend and rehabilitate January’s reputation as a safe haven for fresh content, and the streaming service have some major original movies and TV shows on the horizon.

The most exciting without a doubt is History of Swear Words, which sees Nicolas Cage hosting a six-episode series that delves into the origins and multiple uses of profanity. Anyone who doesn’t have their curiosity immediately piqued by the idea of Hollywood’s most manic and memeable actor fronting a show where the episodes are titled “F*ck...

Amazon Prime Announces Over 100 New Movies/TV Shows For September
Image
We’re still a couple of weeks out from The Boys returning with its second season, but based on the footage we’ve seen so far, it certainly looks as if we’re in for another wild ride. One that may even top the first run of the show, which was one of the best things that we’d seen on television in a long time.

Of course, trying to predict how something as crazy as The Boys is going to end up is a fool’s errand, but let’s not forget that it won’t be the only new thing arriving on Amazon Prime in September. Far from it, in fact.

Earlier today, the streaming service announced their entire line-up of new titles for next month and it’s a meaty list, comprising both films and television shows. And though The Boys may be the highlight for many...

Amazon Prime Video New Releases: September 2020
Laz Alonso, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jack Quaid, Tomer Capone, and Karen Fukuhara in The Boys (2019)
An election season is fast-approaching in the U.S. So for its new releases in September 2020, Amazon Prime is bringing back one of its most political shows.

The Boys season 2 premieres its first three episodes on September 4. Though the show on its face is a superhero story, viewers of season 1 will know it’s really about America’s troubling embrace of entertainment with fascism. Sounds fun and not at all terrifying right before a presidential election!

That’s not the only bleak Amazon original on the schedule for September. British TV adaptation Utopia arrives on September 25. This Gillian Flynn-produced series follows fans of a comic book who believe it predicts…world-ending pandemics. Darn it. Amazon’s only original film this month is a…documentary about voter suppression from Liz Garbus called All In: The Fight for Democracy. Yikes.

For those of us who want to relax with some ‘member berries,...

Lynn Cohen Dies, Hunger Games and Sex and the City Star Was 86
Lynn Cohen at an event for Sex and the City: Le film (2008)
Veteran actress Lynn Cohen, best known for her role as Magda the housekeeper in the HBO series Sex and the City and both of its movie adaptations, has reportedly passed away. The exact cause of her passing and the circumstances of her death remain unclear, although it had been reported Cohen died on Friday morning and the news was officially confirmed by Cohen's representative. She was 86 years old.

Lynn Cohen was born in 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri, and didn't start her acting career until she was almost 50. Studying acting at Michael Howard Studios in New York City, Cohen first appeared in the 1983 movie Without a Trace. She'd follow this up with a role in the limited sci-fi series Golden Years, which was created by Stephen King. This would lead to many other TV and movie roles soon to follow, including parts in the shows The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and NYPD Blue...

Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker on Kim Cattrall: "There Is No Catfight"
Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker isn't—and never was—in a "catfight" with Kim Cattrall. Or so she says. After Cattrall made it clear she has zero interest in reprising her role as Samantha Jones in a third Sex and the City movie, multiple reports surfaced detailing decades of alleged hostility between the two actresses. Parker, who was careful not to badmouth her former co-star while promoting Season 2 of HBO's Divorce earlier this year, now says the tabloid stories were blown out of proportion. "I'd just like to remind everybody that there is no catfight," she tells Vulture. "I have never uttered an unkind, unsupportive, unfriendly word, so I would love to redefine it." (In...

Kim Cattrall Slams Sara Jessica Parker Over Sex and the City Drama
Kim Cattrall at an event for Sex and the City: Le film (2008)
News surrounding a third Sex and the City movie erupted late last week when it was announced that Sex and the City 3 was not happening. Rumors began to swirl and unnamed sources cited that Kim Cattrall had diva-like demands for the reason that the movie was laid to rest, 3 weeks before production was to begin. Kim Cattrall immediately took to Twitter to say that the rumors of ridiculous demands were completely false while Sarah Jessica Parker just said that the movie wasn't happening while not offering up any further details, which only lead to the speculation that Kim Cattrall was the reason behind the whole debacle.

Kim Cattrall appeared on the Piers Morgan Life Stories show and shed some more light on the subject while slamming Sara Jessica Parker and saying that, "I really think she could have been nicer." As it turns out, Cattrall never wanted to do the...

Bold And The Beautiful 2017 Bringing On A New Doctor Character For July Episodes
According to a new report from the folks at Soapcentral, we're about to see a new doctor character show up on the "Bold And The Beautiful" scene in late July 2017. He's going to be played by French-American actor Gilles Marini (above). His guest appearance is being described as a very pivotal arc. Also, they say his Summer storylines are supposed be very juicy. Getting back to his character description. They're told that he will be a doctor who has to unexpectedly treat a character in Monaco. He's expected to show up onscreen in two episodes that will start on Friday, July 28th,2017. So, be sure to look out for him on that date. Gilles Marini's acting resume includes roles in HBO's hit drama "Sex and The City" and Lifetime's "Devious Maids," "Brothers and Sisters," "Ugly Betty," "Dirty Sexy Money," "Two Broke Girls," and Switched at Birth. He also competed in seasons 8 and 15 of ABC's hit dancing show, "Dancing With the Stars." He was also previously cast on "The Bold And The Beautiful" as different characters for a couple of one-episode stints in 2005 and 2007. He played an Italian bicycle rider on the now defunct "Passions" soap opera way back in 2006. In addition to the whole treating a patient storyline, they also mentioned that Gilles arc will include some characters traveling to Monte Carlo for the annual Spencer Summit. There's also going to be a swimwear fashion show challenge that's going to pit the Spectra and Forrester fashion houses against each other. So, that certainly sounds like that could give us some pretty intense storylines to look forward to. Unfortunately, they didn't mention which other characters we'll see in Monte Carlo. But hopefully, some more info will pop up before that date. Be sure to follow us for more "Bold And The Beautiful" news coverage on our "Bold And The Beautiful" Facebook page by Clicking Here.

Teachers: funny, honest, unglamorous comedy drama

A fond look back at UK comedy drama Teachers, starring a pre-The Walking Dead and post-This Life Andrew Lincoln...

Fifteen years ago, Andrew Lincoln wasn’t the guy from The Walking Dead. He wasn’t even the creepy guy from Love Actually (the one with the signs. Not any of the other creepy guys). No, he was the guy from This Life that was getting a show all of his own in which to charm the viewing masses. That show was Teachers. And charm us he did.

Set in a secondary school in Bristol, Teachers was good enough to make us actually want to go back to school – or, for those of us who were still at school when it started, to wonder if some of the ridiculous rumours we were making up about the staff shagging each other might actually be true after all.

The Signature Looks of Empire Season Two
"It literally gives me chills,” Paolo Nieddu says of his "dream job" as costume designer for Empire. Having worked as the assistant costume designer on Sex and the City: The Movie, Nieddu is no stranger to executing high-end, big-ticket looks onscreen. But as he told Vulture in the weeks leading up to the Fox smash-hit show’s season-two premiere, working on Empire, where the fashion is as over-the-top as the plotlines, has him feeling like part of history. “To think 'Oh my god, in 30 years some kid could be watching Empire and referencing those looks for a new show just how we talk about Dynasty' is unbelievable,” he says. Nieddu, who was at the helm for last season’s pilot episode but turned over the reigns to fellow costume designer Rita McGhee, took on all 18 episodes this go-round. And while outfitting Taraji P. Henson’s Cookie Lyon could be a...

Manolo Blahnik Receives Major Couture Council Award Ahead of New York Fashion Week—Watch Now!
Manolo Blahnik in Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's (2013)
As if being Carrie Bradshaw's beloved shoe designer wasn't the ultimate honor, Manolo Blahnik is being celebrated with another prestigious award. Ahead of New York Fashion Week's kickoff tomorrow, the Couture Council is bestowing the 2015 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion Awards upon Mr. Blahnik. Which makes perfect sense, as his enviable footwear designs have drawn in a celebrity cult following that includes Nicole Kidman, Rihanna, Victoria Beckham and, yes, a few of the Sex and the City gals. With the award presented by André Leon Talley—yep, the famed contributing Vogue editor—you can bet this high fashion fête is not something to be missed. But worry not, because you...

Liam Neeson at an event for Ted 2 (2015)
Taken star Liam Neeson is set to play Us Army General Douglas MacArthur in John H. Lee’s upcoming Korean War film about the Incheon Landing Operation.

Operation Chromite will centre on eight Korean war heroes who carry out a covert operation preceding the Incheon landing which changed the tide of the Korean War, allowing South Korean and Un allied forces to retake the capital of Seoul from the invading North Korean army.

Taewon Entertainment head Jeong Tae-won told Yonhap news agency it plans to start production in late September with a budget of $12.7m (KW15bn). Neeson will travel to Korea for the shoot.

Lee is known for directing the hit tearjerker A Moment to Remember (2004) and 71 - Into the Fire (2010), a film about South Korean student soldiers during the same war, which Taewon Entertainment also produced.

Arnold Scaasi (8 May 1930 – 3 August 2015)
When Arnold Scaasi opened his couture salon in 1964, he soon became a couturier to the stars. He was already a favoured designer for Barbra Streisand when he famously dressed her for the 1969 Oscars. Streisand was up for Best Actress for her movie debut in Funny Girl and was established as something of an ‘individual’; usually described as ‘kooky’, she was completely different from anyone else, an innovator of style, and challenging and changing the ideas of beauty. So it is no surprise that when it came to her clothing choice for the Oscars, Streisand resisted the usual protocol of an evening gown and instead opted for a most extraordinary Scaasi-designed pant suit. Made from black, sheer, sequined net fabric, the over-blouse had a white peter-pan collar with black pussy bow and over-sized white cuffs, while in Scaasi’s own words, the ‘bell-bottomed trousers were exaggerated and had many godets flaring...

Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon in Sex and the City (1998)
Sex and the City should return, but we don't need another movie
Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon in Sex and the City (1998)
Rumours of a third Sex and the City movie don't seem to be going away. It's approaching five years since the critically-panned sequel was released, but that doesn't seem to have stopped the show's stars, writer or fans discussing another outing for Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte.

And the show has been back in the headlines this week thanks to a poorly (or cleverly) worded Instagram post from Sarah Jessica Parker. A shot of the actress outside New York's Bloomingdale's in a very Carrie Bradshaw outfit sparked speculation that a third movie was finally in production. A few days later, she confirmed the post was about her shoe line...

For the two days that Sex and the City 3 seemed to be happening, it was interesting to see the reaction from fans and critics on social media. To say the news was divisive would be an understatement indeed. It begs the...

Sarah Jessica Parker turns 50: 6 best roles from Sex and the City star
Sarah Jessica Parker
It is a momentous day for Sex and the City fans around the world as Sarah Jessica Parker celebrates her 50th birthday. While the role of Carrie Bradshaw made Sarah a fashion icon and a superstar, she has starred in a wide variety of films and television shows over four decades. Parker began her career as a child star on the stage in Annie, and has gone on to become an enduring fixture in pop culture.

Her movie career was launched with supporting roles in '80s teen comedies Footloose and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, but soon she grew into a leading lady with memorable roles in a string of early 1990s comedies. Parker might be best known for romantic comedies these days, but over the last 30 years she's impressed critics in roles as diverse a mystical witch, an egotistical talkshow host and the embodiment of a single woman of the 2000s.

Halle Berry in Catwoman (2004)
When Oscars turn sour: 10 disastrous post-Academy Awards roles
Halle Berry in Catwoman (2004)
Think that winning an Academy Award provides an actor with a surefire path to unlimited great roles? Think again. Oscars history is filled with stars who've taken home a gold statue only to see all their hard work undone in seconds with a stinker of a follow-up movie.

Digital Spy takes a look at 10 of these instances below...

Halle Berry - Catwoman (2004)

A piercing performance in Monster's Ball won Halle Berry an Oscar in 2002, but a rocky road lied ahead. She followed it up with disastrous Bond movie Die Another Day, hardly any screen time in X-Men 2 and turgid horror Gothika. Oh, and Catwoman... how could we forget Catwoman (believe us, we've tried)?

Jeff Bridges - Tron Legacy (2011)

Jeff Bridges's Oscar victory for Crazy Heart felt more like an acknowledgement for a body of work than that particular role (Crazy Heart is not his best). Thank goodness, then, that...
