Could have been better

I really enjoy these found footage movies. I love the entire Paranormal Activity series. They aren't real. Neither is this one. It starts out creepy, but never really picks up steam. It's only one hour long, so it's over before it really had a chance to get running. Oh well.

Worth watching kind of

I don't usually believe in this kind of thing. One or two things happened that could be easily explained away, or believed, depending on your view on the paranormal. However, 3 points stood out as utterly fake (in my opinion) 1) the bed "bouncing" looked like someone was under the blanket (on the floor) at the end of the bed 2) when he smashed the "glass" on his head there was no blood on his head or hand. Not even a drip on the floor. 3) when he walks away after smashing the glass, he actually stands on, and drags a piece of "glass" with his foot. Again, no blood on his foot or the carpet. I was very interested until these points, now all I can say is OBVIOUSLY a fake attempt by yet another "YouTube star" to get recognised. All in all, kinda creepy, kinda scarey, but ultimately a let down, and I certainly would not see it as a "true story"

Snore!

Don't waste your time on this. The most terrifying aspect of this "movie" is it's dragged out for an hour.

A cinematic defecation on documentaries

D movie. D is NOT for "documentary" but in fact for: dybbuk-less dishonorable, despicable, disposable, dumb, dull, damnable, defiling, dastardly and deceiving.

Aside from the Stand By Me nod to Chris Chambers, this movie offered nothing in the way of entertainment.

***The lead character is played by the director, producer, editor, writer, gaffer, caterer and animal trainer Joseph Mazzeroeozzzoeorro or something. He released a "documentary" called Built On Graves - where actors from his other failed film projects are titled as HISTORIANS. A throne of liesssssss!

Is this a joke??

So bad I'm not gonna even give it a review. I think what makes it even worse is they try to pass off as a true story. Don't bother watching this...

How has this 8 stars??

That was the lie right there.. thought it was gonna be real or a great mini film but awful acting and explainable acts for a rubbish mockumentary. Some tense moments that nothing came of.... disappointing!

Thought is was good.

If you take it for what it is and suspend your belief for a minute, it's pretty creepy. There were multiple parts that gave me chills down my spine. I think people are too caught up in special effects and gore that something creepy doesn't entertain them anymore.

Lame

It stated it's a documentary of real event but it didn't even try to make it look real. The acting is atrocious. It was so boring that I fell asleep and it's less than an hour run time. I hope Chris Chambers is not counting on this one to break him into the film industry. Utter failure.

Truly an excellent experience

If you are browsing the reviews of this wonderful film, please don't be deceived by these false critics.

For one to say that this is anything less that an absolute masterclass in film making would be an understatement. It could be compared to the lesser title of 'The Godfather' however I still believe that that is not giving 'Dybbuk Box: The Story of Chris Chambers' enough praise. The most obvious and apparent example of this would be the absolutely impeccable acting performed by. Sarah Bentley and Chris Chambers himself. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing such a role. Had this honor had been given to someone like Leonardo DiCaprio or Robert De Niro, the quality would have been greatly reduced.

Now lets move on to the effects. This is a visual feast. Not a single frame of this film was bland or boring. Upon my first viewing I was in awe. I don't want to tell you about any specific effects as that will take away from the experience.

I will wrap it up here so you can go and watch this incredible movie. If anyone disagrees with this I would like to know why this is.

Fake or not I was entertained

As you can see with all the reviews on here people went into this with their magnifying glass out ready to spot any inconsistencies that didnt seem quite right. They then ripped it to shreds with "fake fake fake"

Fine i respect other peoples opinions 100% however if you do go into this 60 mins film with an open mind you may enjoy it.

With anything in life if you look for faults you will find them.

I enjoyed it and I am left wondering what has happened to Chris Chambers?

As bad as they come

I would willing to bet they worked 3 hard days making this. If Mr. Rogers made a horror film, this would be it. "Did you hear that? That sound was from the living room... let's go take a look." Perfect for those in solitary confinement. "Uhhh I'm Chris and I just want to talk." Says the character who sits on a sofa and talks... and talks...

Cack of the highest order

I was looking forward to seeing an interesting documentary, I was treated to what I can only describe as the most boring bs since the Blair Witch Project. Please don't waste your time. Amazing how someone can apparently smash a glass into their own face, shuffle barefoot through the broken glass, then walk across a cream carpet and not one drop of blood? Come on, why has this got 8.1? It's beyond me.

I liked it but it needed some special effects

The guy orders a dybbuk box to vidie the results when he opens it. The fear could have been palpable if we were presented with a visual to fear as well as the ideas to fear.

Waste of time

First of all, this guy is NOT 34. Maybe ten years ago but at time of filming...no freakin way. Next, that was a lock of hair. Not a locket. Oh, brother.

I enjoyed it a lot

Why are there so many nasty ratings, it's not supposed to be something overly scary, this movie treats itself like it's a bit of a documentary and is realistic to a point. It's not trying to be over the top but all o see is a bunch of old people whine.

This makes me feel like I'm watching a very well edited YouTube video rather than a movie but I'm fine with that, I can relax and watch this movie and I did actually get a few good spooks like the light flickering and the box moving and hearing whispers. Quit crying it's not an Oscar winner but it's a decent almost realistic horror movie. Get over it.

Greatest comedy I've seen in years!

I know this isn't what they wanted, and probably anyone seeking out this movie will not want it but this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen! I started it because I thought it was a legitimate documentary and quickly realized it was only made to seem that way. It is nearly impossible however to look past the fakeness of it all, and in that regard they did not achieve their goal but instead created the funniest piece of art I've seen in a long while! From the "slow" (extremely fast) degradation of chris' mental state to the hilariously thrown in side character that adds nothing, it is just a wonderful ride that will keep you laughing right up until the truly unbelievable to witness possession! Great film, please keep it up.

The non-story of Chris Chambers

Well this was a total waste of time, it was like a bad youtube video. So boring and nothing else, just lots or nothing and whoops, there goes the picture, more nothing, sploops there goes the lamp! Complete crap and I couldn't stand the hick they had starring in it, he looked completely insincere when he trying to convince the audience how very real this all was, and he looked bored out of his mind and like he couldn't wait for the 'movie' to end almost as much as I couldn't. What the hell is a Dybukk Box anyway I never heard of one before this home movie, seems like a lame Quija board knock-off, I'd never waste money on one.. Horrible! Complete wet fart, do not bother. I don't think I've ever spent a longer hour in my life!!
