    Serviceable female Zatoichi

BLIND SWORDSWOMAN is a rare and highly obscure historical action flick from Taiwan that deserves better note than it already has. It's not one of the best of the genre and a far cry from the bigger budget quality that came out in the late '60s and '70s, but it deserves kudos for being one of the very first of its kind. And female-led too, just before Cheng Pei Pei hit the screens and inspired the genre. It begins with an evil general ruthlessly murdering a family and blinding the daughter, and before long she's all grown up and wreaking havoc. Essentially a gender twist on ZATOICHI then, and low budget at times, but serviceable enough.
