Valerie Mahaffey of The Doctors, Northern Exposure, and Young Sheldon fame passed away at the age of 71 on Friday, May 30, in Los Angeles after battling cancer, according to her husband and fellow actor, Joseph Kell. The award-winning actress was not only a mainstay in Hollywood, but Mahaffey’s ability to play virtually any role led to her amassing a uniquely impressive resume during a nearly 50-year career while working tirelessly on television, in films, and on stage. Kell said of his wife in a statement issued to Variety:
"I have lost the love of my life, and America has lost one of its most endearing actresses. She will be missed."
Mahaffey made her debut on Broadway in director Edwin Sherin’s musical Rex, which ran from April to June 1976 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York City. The actress appeared as both Catherine Howard and a member of the show’s ensemble,...

Bad Thoughts arrived on Netflix on May 13, 2025, as a six-episode anthology sketch show totaling 114 minutes. Each installment unfolds through two or three discrete vignettes, some extending into two-part arcs that coax viewers into binge mode via cliffhanger endings. Creator and lead performer Tom Segura anchors the program with monologues delivered against a blank backdrop, setting up each episode’s thematic focus before launching into surreal comedic scenarios.
While the series carries a “dark comedy” label, its true identity lies in relentless gross-out humor and graphic sexual absurdity, leaning more toward brazen provocation than existential dread. Segura wears multiple hats—showrunner, writer, director and chameleon actor—shifting between characters with athletic physicality and deliberate vocal quirks.
Through taboo sketches involving bodily functions, humiliating desires and grotesque violence, the show seeks to elicit a blend of revulsion and laughter. That strategy isn’t designed for safe comfort; it operates as a social experiment in taste thresholds,...

Netflix subscribers are in the good part of the month. We saw a lot leave to begin the month, as we always do, but the second week is normally better—or at least less sad. Such is the case with the second week of April. Netflix subscribers only have to watch a relatively few things go away, but at least two saying goodbye are going to be brutally tough.
Not to disrespect anyone's favorite film, as the movies leaving in the first few days of the week will be bound to have someone say it's their favorite, but the final day of the week? Ew. Two completely different, but equally excellent, movies are gone.
Ok one of the films leaving on April 11 is atrocious. We did not want to (one again) disrespect film lovers who think Pixels is the best flick ever. It's not, but one can think that./ The...

The Jurassic Worldmovies may have shaken up the franchise, but its overlooked animated series has proven to be the strongest addition to "the Jurassic era." It’s incredible to see how far Jurassic Park has come over more than three decades, continuing to evolve rather than going extinct. Despite being called “inherently unfranchiseable” by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, the series has expanded its story and legacy with each new installment. However, most audiences have only experienced half of the Jurassic World story. They have only met a fraction of the characters and, ultimately, have missed out on some of the best adventures the Jurassic Park franchise offers. Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory has done more with their premise than the films ever did,...

Escaping one nightmare just to fly into another, Ben O'Toole's Rex cannot catch a break in this horror comedy. Amid all the gore and action sequences of Bloody Hell is a refreshing comedy that relies on us constantly thinking what in the bloody hell is going on? A sentiment that is inevitable, as we are presented with a kaleidoscopic kitchen sink of ideas, tropes, and genres, jam-packed into 90 frantic and deranged minutes. With director Alisteir Grierson's maximalist approach to the film, compounded by the fact that we truly can never guess what is about to transpire next, Bloody Hell becomes as befuddling of an experience for us as it is for Rex. However, the film hinges on O'Toole's animated performance, and more importantly, his compelling chemistry with himself, as he becomes the bloodthirsty yet relatable anti-hero that guides us through this shifting tale.

With a countless collective of creatures, the original Jurassic Park trilogy brought to life some of the coolest dinosaurs to grace natural history. Whether horrifying, awe-inspiring, or just downright unusual, each dinosaur within the series is a spectacle in its own right. Throughout three movies – and three subsequent sequels – audiences had a palette of prehistoric fauna to enthrall them, raising the question of which ones left the biggest impressions.
Premiering in 1993, Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park paved the way for an entire franchise and arguably some of the most outstanding achievements in modern cinematic history. Inspired by Michael Crichton’s groundbreaking novels, the original Jurassic Park movies told the story of extinct animals cloned from fossilized DNA. While the series featured notable stars like Jeff Goldblum, Christ Pratt, Laura Dern, and Bryce Dallas Howard, the dinosaurs proved to be the biggest stars.

Far Side comics often depict T-Rex as a powerful yet comically flawed creature, from its tiny arms to its limited intellect. Gary Larson's iconic comics blend humor with dark and surreal elements, creating bizarre worlds where dinosaurs dine on cereal and become domesticated. Larson found funny ways to use every part of the T-Rex - from its bones to its eggs to just its shadow.
Gary Larson's The Far Side is a classic of the comic genre, applying a surreal eye to the animal kingdom and human behavior. However, many of the franchise's best strips get even wilder by journeying into prehistoric times. And while stegosaurus, triceratops, and diplodocus all find themselves the subject of mockery in the Far Side's best dinosaur comics, Larson particularly loves taking down the king of the dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurus Rex.
