“I’m a princess, too. What about me?”: Kevin Costner’s ‘Bodyguard’ Sequel Wanted Princess Diana But That Could’ve Gone Very Wrong
Image
In 1992, Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston starred in The Bodyguard, a romantic thriller that became a cultural hit. Costner played a former Secret Service agent hired to protect Houston’s character, a global music star facing threats from a stalker.

There was romance, there was drama, there was action, there was everything! The film was a box office success, with Houston’s powerful performance of “I Will Always Love You” becoming iconic.

Costner, naturally, had plans for a sequel, but this time he wanted Princess Diana in the lead! Here’s what happened in detail!

Kevin Costner wanted Princess Diana to star in The Bodyguard 2!

For years, rumors have swirled that Kevin Costner was planning a Bodyguard sequel with none other than Princess Diana in the lead. As wild as it sounds, not all Hollywood gossip is just hot air, and this one was actually confirmed by Costner himself!

“My mom fancied you”: Princess Diana’s Secret Confession for Kevin Costner After Demanding a Kissing Scene in Unmade Sequel
Image
Women falling for their bodyguards seems to be the new hot trope these days, especially among readers. There’s just something about a stoic, unfazed man becoming head over heels for the woman he’s supposed to protect! However, even though this trope seems to be all the rage these days, Kevin Costner had already done it back in 1992.

Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston starred in Mick Jackson’s The Bodyguard, a story about an Oscar-nominated superstar being sent death threats by a stalker. It was a box office success and a total feel-good flick. There were some talks about making a sequel to the movie with, wait for it, Princess Diana herself. In fact, Princess Diana was even ready for a kissing scene with Kevin Costner.

“I don’t want to see my wife kissing somebody”: Kevin Costner’s Bold Take on Meghan Markle’s Acting Return Decades After His Infamous Feud With The Royal Family
Image
Kevin Costner has a striking opinion about Meghan Markle’s acting career after she became part of the royal family. The Suits star is married to Prince Harry and still works in television rather than merely focusing on her duties as a duchess.

Kevin Costner in Yellowstone / Paramount Network

Even before the Yellowstone actor claimed he wasn’t a fan of her career choices, he already had an encounter with the royal family, particularly with the late Princess Diana.

Kevin Costner Gives His Hot Take On Meghan Markle’s Acting Career

While speaking with Ross King (via Express), actor Kevin Costner gets honest about his take on Meghan Markle still pursuing her acting career now that she’s married to a member of the royal family.

Being in this circle that I don’t even understand –you know – royalty. It’s a unique spot. We watch it from across an...

Princess Diana
Prince William details which huge celebrity his famous mom had a secret crush on
Princess Diana
Prince William must have such great memories of his mom, the late Princess Diana, and it may help him speak about her to his children and others who meant a lot to the princess.

Princess Diana has been gone since 1997, but as a detail has just surfaced, she is still in the minds and hearts of her loved ones and fans.

Princess Diana met her share of celebrities during her life, even having famous dances with some of them, as she did with John Travolta, and may have had crushes on some of them.

Now, it has come out that one of the celebrities she mingled with was someone she “fancied,” according to her son, Prince William.

Town and Country Magazine compiled a list of the famous people she spent time with, from Grace Kelly to Lionel Ritchie, Hillary Clinton, and Meg Ryan.

The celebrity list continues to include more...

“That’s probably not great business advice”: Kevin Costner is Breaking His Own Rule for Horizon Saga That He Flat Out Refused for His Oscar Winning Western
Image
Kevin Costner would often like to imagine himself as a one-man army, if possible, who is capable of handling almost every single hurdle and blockade thrown in his direction with utmost precision and decisiveness. This character trait may also be the reason why the Hollywood actor makes choices bold enough to surpass even Quentin Tarantino when it comes to sequel treatment in films.

Where one might look to find Kill Bill Vol. 2, Jaws 2, and Back to the Future Part II, Kevin Costner stands firm on the prospect of sequels insomuch that he would not even dare to touch his Oscar-winning property, Dances With Wolves, that he himself directed, produced, and starred in.

In hindsight, perhaps sticking by this one rule has made Costner one of the most substantial and enduring stars to have walked the Hollywood red carpet,...

Killer Imports: Ong Bak 2
Killer Imports [1] is a regular feature on Film Junk where we explore foreign-language films from around the world that haven’t yet had their chance to shine. After listening to the Macho Movie Review [2] of Ong Bak 2, I was prepared to enjoy an awesome action flick when I inserted my DVD of the movie into my player. To be honest, I had purchased the DVD prior to listening to the review, and I had sampled some of the action scenes. Like Wintle and I imagine other movie lovers, I have a backlog of unwatched DVDs that is growing rather than shrinking. So the acclaim given and enthusiasm shown by Wintle, Nagy, and Billy in their review moved Ong Bak 2 to the top of my stack. Yet, their review came out weeks ago, and I have finally written my review. Why the delay? Because I was disappointed. I guess...

The Bodyguard and Bodyguard 2 Double Feature DVD
Review by Alex Dorn Watching The Bodyguard and The Bodyguard 2 double feature DVD was a cool experience for me in that it’s been quite a few years since I’ve felt like I was experiencing a new kind of cinema, or at the very least a new kind of comedy. I’m ashamed to say that “Chicken Pad Thai” is about all I know of Thai culture, and I won’t profess to knowing any more about it after seeing these two movies, but I definitely got a taste of something new. Maybe you folks can remember the movie Ong-Bak from a few years ago, with Tony Jaa, the “Thai Bruce Lee”? His, and that movie’s claim to fame was that all the stunts and fighting were performed without any special effects or wirework. Pretty cool stuff! For those of you who saw it, he had a...
