According to Deadline, McConaughey will play a farmer who becomes the leader of the revolt. Although unconfirmed, Deadline notes that the character description could imply that he's playing the real-life figure Wat Tyler, who led the uprising before being killed by forces loyal to King Richard. Interestingly enough, when The Rage was first announced back in May 2022 under its original title The Hood, it was Benedict Cumberbatch who was attached as the farmer-turned-leader. However, Cumberbatch is seemingly no longer involved with the project, possibly due to his forthcoming commitments to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Matthew McConaughey has cast his fictionalized mother for his upcoming Apple TV+ comedy series with Woody Harrelson. Holland Taylor, best known for playing matriarch Evelyn Harper in Two and a Half Men, has boarded the series as Ma Mac.

The Silver Surfer hasn’t been treated well on the big screen. When 20th Century Fox announced the character would be appearing in their 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, well, we’d be lying if we said fans were enthusiastic, given the lackluster reaction to the first film. But, people were happy that Doug Jones would be playing the role in motion capture, even if Lawrence Fishburne doing the voice seemed like an odd mismatch. It’s a feeling that permeates not only our interview but the book Slott is here to talk about, a whopping 66-page special for Titan Comics called Once Upon A Time Lord. Slott seems like a kid who has been locked in the candy store by mistake and intends to scarf down as much candy as he can before someone notices.

But there has been no mistake—Dan Slott is one of the most respected and prolific comic writers working right now, with runs on the Fantastic Four, the Silver Surfer, and, most famously, Spider-Man behind him. Indeed, Slott’s runs include the epic “Spider-Verse” comic event that inspired the wildly successful ongoing movie trilogy.

When thinking of the landmark first season of HBO's crime anthology series "True Detective," it's hard not to think of one major image: Rustin "Rust" Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Marty Hart (Woody Harrelson) in the front seat of a car, speaking of life and death in the language of jaded detectives. The “Champions” actor compared the HBO true crime limited series to the cabler’s mystery-thriller anthology show “True Detective,” in which he and Matthew McConaughey starred as a pair of grizzled homicide detectives. The brief synopsis released by Apple TV+ describes the 10-episode half-hour comedy as “a heartfelt odd couple love story revolving around the strange and beautiful bond between Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Matthew and Woody’s friendship is tested when their combined families attempt to live together on Matthew’s ranch in Texas.”

Additional executive producers include Bill Bost, Jeremy Plager, and Skydance Television’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell. Skydance Television’s producing the series for Apple TV+.

Apple’s bringing it all the way back to 2014. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, the actors who led the first season of “True Detective,” are reuniting for a very different project — an Apple TV+ comedy series where the two Texan stars play fictionalized versions of themselves.

According to Apple’s logline, the untitled show focuses on McConaughey and Harrelson as they bring their combined families together to live under the same Texas ranch, testing the actors’ friendship in the process.

David West Read, whose other Apple TV+ series “The Big Door Prize” recently made its world premiere as part of the SXSW TV selection ahead of its March 29 streaming debut, created the untitled show; aside from “The Big Door Prize,” Read’s also known for writing the book to Broadway musical “& Juliet” and for his work on “Schitt’s Creek,” for which he won an Emmy.
