What happened to the cast of The Blair Witch Project? 15 years later
Eduardo Sánchez
The Blair Witch Project celebrates its 15th anniversary in the UK today (October 22).

The frightening, low-budget, found-footage horror movie was written and directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, and featured an unknown cast who used their own names in the film.

The Blair Witch Project 15 years on: The horror movie that changed everything

It became the first of its kind in Hollywood due to its commercial success and viral online campaign, which was created to make the production look like a real documentary. The Blair Witch website with details on the made-up mythology still exists.

And the clever campaign worked on some gullible and vulnerable viewers. We remember witnessing real tears of fear being shed by some audience members in the cinema (and definitely not ours...).

It purports to be a documentary shot by three inquisitive, daring, and at times daft students investigating the local Blair Witch legend in the Maryland forest.

Review of The Morgue
Year: 2008Director: Halder Gomes & Gerson SanginittoWriters: Najla Ann Al-Doori (story and screenplay), Andrew Pletcher (screenplay)Type of Horror: Supernatural ScareOut of 5 Stars (Bad, Ok, Good, Great, Awesome): 2 The concept of “The Morgue” is enticing and interesting. The execution, however, is severely lacking. In this movie, a handful of strangers are brought together in a morgue and are picked off one by one. The main character, Margo (Lisa Crilley) is the cleaning lady for the funeral home. She tries to help a stranded family (Heather Donahue, Taylor Lipman,...

The Morgue (DVD Review)
Normally, I would warn readers when the back of a DVD gives away a crucial Spoiler about the film. In this case, the summary reveals not just a minor secret, but, in fact, the movie’s “astonishing twist.” Not only that, but it discloses the “astonishing twist” in the first sentence. The reason I’ve quoted and repeated “astonishing twist” (their words, not mine) is that said “twist” is laughingly foreseeable and, if there’s anything “astonishing” about The Morgue, it’s that Lionsgate bothered to distribute this direct-to-dvd release. That’s why I would suggest, if you have any interest in the film (and choose to ignore my forthcoming attempts to dissuade you from seeing The Morgue), you should actually read the revealing description on the DVD case, skip the movie and be thankful you have 84 more minutes of free time in your day.

Margo (Lisa Crilley) works as...

Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned (2008)

Directed by Brian Thompson

Wow, it sounds almost like a Satanic version of the classic Tom Hanks film Bachelor Party, except I’m sure it won’t be nearly as funny or horrific. The story follows Sammy, a kid who has come across a genuine bungalow in the Hamptons so decides to throw the ultimate bachelor party for his friend. The strippers show up, but so does his friends girlfriend and pretty soon all hell has quite literally broken loose. Buy it here!

The Gleam (2006)

Directed by Sri Rang

Young actors will really do anything for money, up to an including feeding live humans to mad scientists. Young Max is one of those actors, just trying to make his way through the world, and...

Fall Horror DVD-Palooza!
There's a frightening number of fall horror DVDs coming out the closer we get to Halloween. I've compiled a sampling in no particular order of just some of the many, many new releases coming soon to a DVD shelf near you in September and October.

Genius Entertainment will release Never Cry Werewolf (review) on September 16th. Originally premiering on the Sci-Fi Channel back in May, Nina Dobrev ("Degrassi: The Next Generation") stars as a young woman who requires the help of a slightly inept TV hunting show host Kevin Sorbo ("Hercules: The Legendary Journeys") in dealing with the werewolf who just moved in next door. To say that the film is derivative of Fright Night would be an understatement. Fortunately, it's actually not all that bad. You can find out more by reading my review, the one I accidentally submitted the uncorrected version of with all manner of typos and...
