Prime Video is gearing up for the anticipated third season premiere of the hit fantasy series The Wheel of Time. On March 13, the show will return with the first three episodes of Season 3, and new episodes will then be released weekly on Prime Video.

Coming ahead of the show's return, Cbr can unveil a sneak peek clip from one of the new episodes. In the clip, Lord Galad (Callum Kerr) and Lord Gawyn (Luke Fetherston) have a sparring match in the White Tower, delighting the Novices and Nynaeve (Zoë Robins), amusing their sister Elayne (Ceara Coveney), and annoying Mat (Dónal Finn). Of course, this just marks one small bit of the action and drama that's to come in Season 3. While fans wait for the new episodes to drop, Cbr's sneak peek can be viewed below.

Fresh off her run on The Penguin, Emmy Award winner Shohreh Aghdashloo has been announced as a Season 3 cast addition to Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time.

Aghdashloo joins series lead Rosamund Pike in portraying one of the powerful Aes Sedai — specifically, Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, a highly anticipated character from Robert Jordan’s fantasy novels upon which the TV series is based.

New casting information has been revealed for the third season of The Wheel of Time. The news comes months ahead of the show's return to Prime Video on March 13, 2025.

It has been officially announced that Shohreh Aghdashloo has joined the cast of The Wheel of Time, set to appear in the show's upcoming third season. It's the next big role for Aghdashloo following her recent appearance in the hit HBO series The Penguin, the spinoff of The Batman. In the series, Aghdashloo played Nadia Maroni, the wife of mob boss Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown) who met a fiery end courtesy of Oz Cobb (Colin Farrell).

The Prime Video series has added Emmy winner Shohreh Aghdashloo to its cast. In The Wheel of Time‘s third season, due in March, Aghdashloo (The Expanse, House of Sand and Fog) will play Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, an important character in the fantasy novels by Robert Jordan on which the series is based.

Elaida is described as “a ruthlessly powerful Aes Sedai as proficient in politicking as she is in channeling. She has a deep history with Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo), and scores to settle with both of them when she returns to the White Tower. Elaida is someone who believes in ends over means, and is willing to do anything to achieve what she envisions to be the greater good.”

Shohreh Aghdashloo has been tapped for a major role in “The Wheel of Time” Season 3.

Aghdashloo will play Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, a powerful member of the Aes Sedai sisterhood. Elaida is a member of the Red Ajah – the sect of the Aes Sedai tasked with hunting down men who can channel the One Power – and has a long history with Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo) that bubbles back to the surface upon her return to the White Tower.

Exclusive: Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Shohreh Aghdashloo is the latest addition to the cast of Renfield, the monster movie that Chris McKay is directing for Universal Pictures.

She’ll star alongside previously announced cast members including Nicholas Hoult, Nicolas Cage, Awkwafina, Adrian Martinez and Ben Schwartz.

The film based on an original story outline from The Walking Dead and Invincible’s Robert Kirkman centers on Renfield (Hoult), who has grown sick and tired of his centuries as Dracula’s (Cage) lackey. The henchman finds a new lease on life and maybe even redemption when he falls for feisty, perennially angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina).

Aghdashloo will play Ella, a bold woman who is one of the most feared crime lords in the city.

Apple’s “Shantaram” series starring Charlie Hunnam has found its showrunner.

Steven Lightfoot has signed on to run the forthcoming show, Variety has confirmed. The “Hannibal” and “Punisher” alum has at the same time inked a multi-year overall deal with Apple.

“Shantaram” is based on Gregory David Roberts’ 2003 novel of the same name and tells the story of Lin (Hunnam), a man on the run from an Australian prison looking to get lost in the teeming city of Bombay. Cut off from family and friends by distance and fate, he finds a new life in the slums, bars and underworld of India. The novel is described as a thrilling and profound exploration of love, forgiveness, and courage on the long road to redemption.

In addition to showrunning, Lightfoot will write and and executive produce the series. Steve Golin, Andrea Barron, Nicole Clemens and Richard Sharkey are also on board as executive producers.

Exclusive: Documentary filmmaker Alex Holmes is going from the world of boat racing in his critically acclaimed pic Maiden to the world of cycling with Last Rider, which chronicles the story of Greg LeMond. The director will team with Mrc Non-Fiction for the production. James Erskine and Victoria Gregory are set to produce on behalf of New Black Films.

Last Rider follows the story of LeMond, who came back from the brink of death after a hunting accident to win the closest race in the history of the Tour de France. He remains the only American to have won the race without performance-enhancing drugs.

“The 1989 Tour de France was one of the most thrilling spectacles in sport,” said Holmes. “It pitted LeMond, the only American ever to have won the tour, against the great French champion Laurent Fignon. It was a race that tested not only their physical endurance but their mental strength.

On top of the many British dramas returning this year, below are the many, many, many new UK TV series we can expect to see arrive in 2020 and beyond. Almost all of them starring David Tennant, by the looks of it – no bad thing.

You’ll find original drama from Russell T. Davies, a new space-set sci-fi from Sky, true crime series, contemporary thrillers and the usual hefty number of literary adaptations and period dramas coming your way. Here’s the same for all the new British comedy on its way in 2020.

Sky Studios, the production arm of Comcast’s European pay-tv operator Sky, has taken a minority stake in The Lighthouse. The drama series production outfit was founded last fall by Hilary Salmon, Radford Neville and Nick Betts – three of the U.K.’s most experienced television professionals.

Salmon, former head of drama for BBC Studios, has developed and produced many hit dramas, including “Luther,” “Three Girls,” “MotherFatherSon,” “Rillington Place” and “Silent Witness.” Prior to this she was executive producer on both the BAFTA award-winning series “Criminal Justice,” and the multi-Emmy winning U.S. reversion of the show for HBO – “The Night Of.” Salmon has also co-produced other shows with HBO, including “Five Days” and “House of Saddam,” which won a Grierson Award.

Deadline understands that Salmon, who has been with the BBC for over twenty years, is setting up a drama production company with her former BBC Studios colleagues Nick Betts and Radford Neville

Salmon, Betts, who was previously Director of Scripted at BBC Studios, having joined the BBC in 2007 from NBC Universal, and Neville, who joined the BBC in 2017 from The Crown producer Left Bank, have established The Lighthouse. It is understood that the trio, who are equal partners in the independent venture, will produce scripted series for UK and international broadcasters and streaming platforms. Salmon and Neville will leave BBC Studios at the end of the year.

The first scene of Channel 4’s upcoming “Baghdad Central,” created and written by Stephen Butchard and lead-directed by Alice Troughton, captures, with a jolt, the hectic hubbub of an ordinary street scene in Baghdad: One man fixes a container, banging it rhythmically as if it were a drum; there’s the table of street conversation, a car tooting, people throwing a dice, a woman selling fruit.

Dogwoof has picked up sailing feature doc Maiden ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The London-based sales agent has taken worldwide rights to the doc, which tells the story of Tracy Edwards, a 24-year-old cook on charter boats, who became the skipper of the first ever all-female crew to enter the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1989.

It will present the film to buyers at Tiff with a UK release planned for early 2019. The deal was done between Oli Harbottle, Head of Distribution and Acquisitions for Dogwoof with Victoria Gregory of New Black Films. It is the second New Black Films picture that Dogwoof has sold following James Erskine’s The Ice King earlier this year.

So far, we’ve seen a lot of Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle on the set of Marvel and Netflix’s The Punisher in New York City (the latest set photos featured the actor rocking a new look). This past weekend, even more images surfaced but instead of focusing on the titular anti-hero, they shine the spotlight on some key members of the highly anticipated spinoff’s supporting cast.

The photos – which can be viewed at Getty Images – offer up a first look at Amber Rose Revah (House of Saddam) as “highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent” Dinah Madani. Joining her is The Knick‘s Michael Nathanson, an actor who has not yet been officially announced as being part of The Punisher‘s cast. He’s presumably playing a colleague of some sort, though it’s not clear from these photos alone just how significant a role he’ll have in the series.

Earlier pics from the set of Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil spinoff, The Punisher, have mainly featured Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle), but this time we get a first glimpse of a couple of the show's supporting characters. It was previously announced that Amber Rose Revah (House of Saddam, From Paris with Love) would be playing a "highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent" named Dinah Madani, and here we see her alongside The Knick actor Michael Nathanson, who has not yet been officially named as a cast member. From the looks of these images, however, there's a good chance he'll be playing a colleague of Madani's. The pics are copyrighted so you'll have to click Here to check 'em out.

In the past few years, studios have tried to write off reshoots as a necessary part of the filmmaking process, especially when it comes to big blockbuster tentpole movies. It doesn't mean the producton is in trouble. Marvel even writes reshoots into their schedule. But it sounds like there's something a little more substantial going on with Star Trek Beyond. The movie is going to start reshoots next week. And guess what? The movie has added an all-new character.

To be fair, we're not sure if the movie is actually adding a new character, or getting rid of an actor that didn't work out. Deadline reports that Shohreh Aghdashloo is coming into shoot new scenes next week. She is best known for her roles in House of Sand and Fog and House of Saddam. Apparently she's a fan of movies and TV shows that begin with House.

Any sci-fi fan worth their salt will tell you that The Expanse, Syfy’s bold new space opera, has emerged as one of this season’s best new series. Set in a distant future where humanity has expanded – and indeed colonised – the far reaches of space, it’s a wonderful and accomplished genre piece. However, actress Shohreh Aghdashloo will soon be swapping the Rocinante for the USS Enterprise.

That’s according to Deadline, confirming that the Emmy-winning actress has joined the ensemble cast for Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond. Also known for her roles across House Of Sand And Fog, House Of Saddam, the outlet notes that Aghdashloo has been welcomed aboard as High Command of the Federation, with Paramount’s blockbuster threequel due to stage reshoots at some point next week. Mark Gatiss has signed up to play Labour politician Peter Mandelson in new Channel 4 political drama Coalition.

The Sherlock and League of Gentlemen actor will be joined by Babylon's Bertie Carvel as Nick Clegg, The Bletchley Circle's Mark Dexter as David Cameron and Ian Grieve (The Confessions of Gordon Brown) as Gordon Brown.

Coalition follows the moments which led to Clegg rising from outsider in the 2010 general election to the man who would decide the political fate of the country.

As a politician who was living in the shadow of Cameron and Brown, Clegg found himself in the powerful position of having to choose whether to ally his party with Labour or the Conservatives following the public's election votes.

Coalition is written by James Graham, who previously worked on Privacy, This House and Tory Boyz.

BAFTA-winning director Alex Holmes, who helmed Dunkirk and House of Saddam, will direct the 90-minute single drama.

Alex Holmes has been hired to pen the adaptation of Tom Wood's novel "The Killer" for Studiocanal, The Picture Company and Sentient Entertainment. Pierre Morel ("Taken") is slated to direct.

The first in a six-book series dubbed the 'Victor The Assassin' franchise, the critically acclaimed work follows a mysterious and charismatic killer whose conscience begins to catch up with him and puts him at odds with his employers.

The hope is the film will be the potential first in a franchise. Holmes penned and directed episodes of "House Of Saddam" and "Strike Back" along with the documentary "Stop At Nothing".

Exclusive: Studiocanal has hired Alex Holmes to adapt The Killer for Pierre Morel to direct. This comes after Studiocanal acquired rights to Tom Wood’s critically acclaimed Victor The Assassin book franchise, with Morel attached along with The Picture Company to produce with Sentient Entertainment. Studiocanal and Morel collaborated on The Gunman, the action thriller starring Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, Idris Elba and Ray Winstone that Open Road Films will release in February. They are hoping to hatch a franchise with Wood’s six-book series. The Killer is the first book in that series. It centers on Victor, a mysterious, quick-witted and charismatic gun for hire whose conscience begins to catch up with him and as a result puts him at odds with his employers.

In a press release, BBC America announced that Carnival Films, which produced Downton Abbey, will adapt Bernard Cornwell’s book series The Saxon Stories for the screen. The TV series, to be titled The Last Kingdom, is set in the year 872. It will follow the various kingdoms that occupy what is now modern England as they deal with the threat of the Vikings.

The first season will run eight 60-minute episodes. BAFTA nominated and Rts award-winning writer Stephen Butchard, (Good Cop, House of Saddam), will adapt Cornwell's best-selling franchise, .The Saxon Stories. for the screen.

BBC America and "Downton Abbey" producer Carnival Films are teaming to co-produce the eight-part historical series "The Last Kingdom" for BBC Two.

Based on "Sharpe" author Bernard Cornwell’s book series "The Saxon Stories," the series will combine real historical figures and events with fictional characters during the reign of Alfred the Great, king of Wessex, as he fought off the Viking invaders who successfully conquered much of the rest of England.

The story follows Uhtred, a noble Saxon whose parents are killed by the Vikings. He's kidnapped and raise as one of them. He must tread a dangerous path between both sides if he is to claim his birthright and recapture his ancestral lands.

Stephen Butchard ("Good Cop," "House Of Saddam") is scripting, while Butchard, Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant will executive produce. Filming begins this Fall with casting yet to be confirmed.

Yes they’re still calling it a pilot, but at least Syfy is issuing press releases about the Dominion project in development. Hopefully now that they have the major casting out of the way, they can get going on this and we’ll be hearing that it’s great and that it’s green-lit for a series run.
