Molly Parker has created a fascinating protagonist in Dr. Amy Larsen in the new Fox drama, Doc. She's a complex character who definitely has some faults (and not the best bedside manner!), but she ends up having a chance to reexamine her choices when she loses eight years of her memories after a car accident. Parker is already earning solid reviews in this role, but she's had other impressive parts in tons of projects over the years. With over 100 credits on her resume, Parker has shown off her range in everything from Swingtown and Goliath to Lost in Space and House of Cards (which netted her an Emmy nomination). Even with this fantastic career, Parker has still somehow managed to remain under the radar until now. This means that new fans of hers might not even remember the project that served as a breakthrough role.

While several television series have focused on relationships and sex, not many address the assumptions about sex, feminine appetites, or stereotypes as honestly as Starz’s Three Women does.

The series is based on Lisa Taddeo’s #1 New York Times bestselling book. While adapting a narrative nonfiction book is challenging, the series kept most key elements intact, changing only two major things.

The series follows Gia (Shailene Woodley) as she acts like the real-life Lisa Taddeo and researches and writes her book about relationships and sex in America. Taddeo thought that adding Gia’s character and story made her more relatable, and the other women would likely open up.

The series premiere introduced us to everyone’s stories, beginning with Gia’s.

Many episodes focus on one of the women’s arcs, allowing viewers to learn how Gia interacted with each other and the details of each woman’s journey.

Well, I’d call this an upgrade.

Exclusive: Lana Parrilla has joined the cast of the USA Network series The Rainmaker, based on the bestselling John Grisham novel of the same name.

From writer and executive producer Michael Seitzman, the Lionsgate and Blumhouse series follows Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan) who, fresh out of law school, goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond (John Slattery) and his law school girlfriend Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman). Rudy, along with his boss and her disheveled paralegal, uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son.

In a series regular role, Parrilla will play brash, ballsy street lawyer Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone who heads her disgraced father, J. Lyman Stone’s strip-mall law firm.

Steve Miller will place his biggest hits alongside a slew of previously unreleased tracks on a new box set, Welcome to the Vault, out October 11th via Sailor/Capitol/UMe.

The three-disc, one DVD collection will span Miller’s six-decade career and boast 38 previously unreleased recordings including demos, rehearsals, outtakes and live performances. The set will also feature five recently rediscovered Steve Miller Band tracks recorded in the Sixties and Seventies. To accompany the box set announcement, Miller shared an alternate version of his 1976 Number One single “Rock ‘N Me.

It seems like Renee Zellweger has been out of the spotlight for awhile, but she’s about to make a comeback with a new Netflix series that she stars in called What/If. The series is a social thriller anthology drama series which also stars Jane Levy and Blake Jenner.

The series was created by Revenge and Swingtown creator Mike Kelley, and it “explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.”

The series was directed by Phillip Noyce, and it’s set to premiere on May 24th. I also included some photos for you to see below the trailer.

Netflix has released a teaser for its upcoming anthology series “What/If” — and from the looks of it, everyone is just a pawn in Renée Zellweger’s chess game.

“What if I made you an offer too extraordinary to refuse?” Zellweger says in the teaser. “For anything, and anyone, to be yours for the taking. The players are all arranged. What would you risk for a chance to have it all?”

She’s later shown dangling a pawn and then dropping it, revealing a board of toppled-over chess pieces.

Netflix has given a 10-episode order to drama series “What/If” toplined by Renee Zellweger.

The series revolves around “the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things,” per Netflix. The project hails from showrunner Mike Kelley (“Revenge”) and producer Robert Zemeckis for Warner Bros. TV. The concept calls for each season to tackle a different morality tale “inspired by culturally consequential source material,” per Netflix.

Kelley created the series and will serve as writer and exec producer along with Zemeckis, Melissa Loy, Alex Gartner, Charles Roven, and Jack Rapke. Jackie Levine of Zemeckis’ Compari Entertainment banner will serve as co-exec producer.

Zellweger is an Oscar winner for 2003’s “Cold Mountain.” She was also Oscar-nommed for 2002’s “Chicago” and 2001’s “Bridget Jones’ Diary.”

Kelley is coming off a four-season run of the ABC drama “Revenge,” which ran from 2011-2015. He also created the critically praised 2008 CBS drama “Swingtown.

We're still counting down the days to the Younger Season 3 premiere, and celebrating with our interview of Miriam Shor and Peter Hermann from the Atx Festival this summer. Miram plays Liza's boss, Diana and Peter plays Diana's boss and Liza's potential love interest, Charles.

Much like Molly Bernard and Dan Amboyer, I've been a fan of Miriam Shor's for quite some time, so we began by talking about her work in Gcb and the underrated gem Swingtown.

Leaving Peter Hermann out of the initial conversation meant hearing his voice was a shocking surprise. It's deep and quite lovely in person. Miriam used the term resonant and it was fun watching Peter get a little bit uncomfortable before the real conversation began, and what a conversation it was. I hope you enjoy reading it.

‘Point of view’ in cinematic storytelling is at the crux of the entire issue of equality and sexism in film. Its influence on popular culture – and, in turn, society as a whole – is routinely underestimated. The fact is that the majority of the narratives we watch on our screens are told from the point of view of white men – making their experience the ‘norm,’ and everything else marginal. This creates a skewed cultural perspective, and leads to a situation that reinforces a pervasive sense of entitlement – if your perspective were the only one regularly represented in the media, you would unconsciously assume it was the most important, too. This is why The Keeping Room is a vital film.

In reality, the perspective of white men is, of course, no more important than any other perspective – particularly considering that that point of view is actually in the minority in global terms.

PBS Masterpiece Breathless

On 24 August PBS Masterpiece will debut a new British TV show — Breathless. The 60s era medical drama has been variously described as Britain’s answer to Mad Men or ITV’s response to The Hour. Based purely on ratings, the comparisons were off the mark as the show was cancelled after it’s first season in the UK. Nevertheless, PBS hope the show’s all-star cast will entice a healthy audience. Leading the way is Jack Davenport (Swingtown) who plays Otto Powell, a high flying surgeon who performs illegal abortions when he’s off-the-clock. Shaun Dingwall (Doctor Who) is his work place frenemy Dr Charlie Enderbury. Joanna Page (The Syndicate) plays Dingwall’s love interest. The series has been formatted into three, two-hour long episodes that will wrap up on Sunday 7 September.

Rob Riggle has joined the cast of The Pro. The NBC comedy pilot stars Rob Lowe as a fallen tennis doubles champion who reunites with his former partner (Riggle) after hitting hard times. I’m watching this one since it comes from out Emmy-winner Todd Holland as a director.

CNN is cutting back on Anderson Cooper. The news channel has pulled from the schedule AC360 Later a “more relaxed” companion series for Cooper’s regular news hour. If you’re not familiar with AC360 Later, that might be because it was infrequently scheduled and would sometimes disappear from the schedule for weeks. Did anyone catch it? Will you miss it?

ITV Breathless Episode One

AMC and the BBC have enjoyed huge success with Mad Men and The Hour so it wasn’t hugely surprising when ITV decided to jump on the 60s bandwagon with Breathless. The slick looking, smooth talking professionals in Breathless are doctors rather than TV presenters or Ad men but the characters are vaguely familiar. The script is interesting and somewhat controversial with overlapping storylines involving sexual antics and backstreet abortions. The ingredients including the cast were good but somehow the end product was sub-par.

Jack Davenport (Swingtown) is the Don Draper of Breathless and like his American counterpart, he he likes to gawp at people from a distance with an ever-so smug look on his face. Sadly, Davenport doesn’t have the screen presence of Jon Hamm and his redheaded side kick isn’t as colorful as Draper’s.

On CBS' summer hit "Under the Dome," Rachelle Lefevre plays Julia, who, like many of the other characters she's played, is fearless.

Julia is a reporter, and like Lefevre's other recent TV roles as doctors, she is a strong, determined woman. This time, however, Lefevre didn't shadow a journalist to inform her character.

"Normally when I am playing a certain profession, I do spend time with cops and doctors," she tells Zap2it from Wilmington, N.C., where the show was shooting. "There is something about playing a journalist, as a solo mission, and it is something one can excel at or be bad at. I was less interested in the skill and more interested in what kind of person becomes a journalist."

Julia is a doctor's wife, or as the audience knows from the show's beginning, a doctor's widow, so Julia would have more money than most print reporters working on a small-town daily.

CBS is giving viewers a second chance to experience "Jericho," "Swingtown" and "Wolf Lake."

The network has added all episodes of the three drama to CBS.com for viewing.

“'Jericho, 'Swingtown' and 'Wolf Lake' pushed the boundaries, exploring some of the most popular themes in television today: post-cataclysmic life, the social and cultural mores of a generation, and the supernatural," Jeff Grossman, vice president of content and product strategy for CBS Interactive, said in a statement. "Over the years, fans have told us they'd like to experience these shows again, and through CBS.com, we're able to resurface programming that not only captivated viewers but broke new ground."

"Jericho," starring Skeet Ulrich, Lennie James and Ashley Scott, followed the residents of a Kansas town that is left isolated after a nuclear disaster. "Jericho" was canceled after its first season, but CBS revived the show amid fan outcry and it lasted for another season.

Rachelle Lefevre (Boston Legal, Swingtown, Twilight, and A Gifted Man — although none rival her first role on the classic Big Wolf On Campus) has landed the female lead in CBS’ Under The Dome. She will play Julia, an investigative reporter and love interest to Mike Vogel’s Barbie.

The series, based on Stephen King’s novel, premieres June 24th, and also stars Mike Vogel, Dean Norris, Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong, Britt Robertson, Alex Kotch, and Natalie Martinez.

There are ups and downs in just about every actor’s career. Sometimes you have good luck, sometimes you don’t. For instance, it was terrible luck when the Twilight franchise replaced Victoria actress, Rachelle Lefevre, the one with the wicked curve ball, with Bryce Dallas Howard. And Lefevre’s luck wasn’t so good when CBS cancelled her show, A Gifted Man. I was watching that, thank you very much! The TV gods are smiling now, however. The star was just cast in Under the Dome.

Based upon Stephen King’s novel of the same name, Under the Dome details just what happens to the inhabitants and passers through of a small New England town when they find it is inexplicably enclosed within an impenetrable dome, cutting it off from the rest of the world and trapping those inside.

After two tries at doctoring it up for ABC (with Off The Map and A Gifted Man) Twilight star Rachelle Lefevre is now set to give CBS a TV try with its Under The Dome adaptation of Stephen King's sci-fi novel of the same name. According to TV Guide, Lefevre has signed on to star as Julia, an investigative reporter who moves to the small town of Chester Mills, Maine with her doctor husband and becomes trapped within when a clear dome is suddenly placed around the town's borders. Lefevre joins Dean Norris, Mike Vogel, Britt Robertson, Natalie Martinez, Aisha Hinds, Alex Koch, Colin Ford, Nicholas Strong and Jolene Purdy for the cast, and thirteen episodes have been ordered up from CBS. Britt Robertson is the latest actor to fall Under The Dome.

Under The Dome is the 13 episode CBS miniseries based on Stephen King’s massive book of the same name. Robertson joins Alex Koch, Natalie Martinez, and Colin Ford in the ensemble to this point.

Robertson is known for roles in Scream 4, Dan In Real Life, Swingtown, The First Time, The Secret Circle, and Life Unexpected. Robertson will play Angie the waitress. Now we wait for “Barbie” and “Big Jim,” the two decisions that could make or break this adaptation. We’ll find out well before the June 24th premiere date, I’m sure!

The upcoming science fiction series, Under the Dome is getting more and more attractive. We delivered the update when showrunners hired Natalie Martinez and the new this week is that Britt Robertson now has the same distinction of winning a Stephen King-inspired role.

Natalie Martinez is the tough CSI:ny babe who will play Deputy Linda of Chester’s Mill. When we filled you in on that tidbit we also shared that actor Alex Koch would play Junior Rennie, the son of a local politician and car dealer. Funny how both professions are known for being slightly sleazy.

Rennie is described as being quite “disturbed” and obsessed with a town waitress who can’t wait to leave Chester’s Mill. Guess what. Britt Robertson, from today’s headline, has won the role of Angie, the attractive young waitress and aspiring nurse who Rennie is infatuated with. I can imagine things...

The Secret Circle‘s Britt Robertson will soon find herself Under the Dome. CBS’ 13-episode drama, based on Stephen King’s 2009 novel, takes place in a New England community that inexplicably finds itself trapped beneath a massive, transparent barrier. The situation soon turns to chaos.

Robertson will play Angie, an attractive young waitress and aspiring nurse who has dreams of escaping her town, Chester’s Mill.

Magic is back in Storybrooke, but it's not all sunshine and happiness for the "Once Upon a Time" characters, especially Regina, the Evil Queen. In fact, for her, it's a very lonely time, Lana Parrilla told The Huffington Post.

The residents of Storybrooke have their memories back and they're not too happy. "Everyone remembers what happened and knows who she is. She's backed up in a corner," Parrilla said.

In Season 2, "Once Upon A Time" is stepping up its game in all departments, including sets and visual affects, she said.

"I just think everyone is going to be blown away in the second season because we're introducing new characters," Parrilla said. "Everything is bigger, more grand ... Everything is much more elaborate and the storytelling, I think, is more compelling.

Fall is a hopeful time for TV viewers. Every new show is an unknown, save for a handful of promos and publicity photos and we're waiting to find out if the show lives up to the promise of a great idea or... withers away to inspire case studies of failure analysis.

There are few obvious trends this year. The New Normal and Partners both feature a gay couple among its lead characters while Arrow and 666 Park Avenue try to capture the Occupy Wall Street zeitgeist that helped make Revenge a hit. But overall, this fall lacks the "me too" quality that so often characterizes a TV season.

The one trend that does stand out this season are strong ideas that don't quite meet their potential in the pilot. Vegas, Last Resort, 666 Park Avenue and The Mindy Project are some of the pilots that left critics hoping that later episodes fix the rough spots.
