Life-changing insight - even if you don't know a thing about Mahjong

I don't usually write reviews, but this anime hardly has any and it deserves a lot more love.

Avoiding spoiling the show, Akagi shows you how to win, not just in gambling, but in all forms of competition against a human opponent.

Akagi as a character embodies the absolute courage, cunning and willpower required to defeat an opponent, and you are taught in a variety of ways what mentality will bring you success, through compelling, suspenseful storytelling with beautiful animation and an amazing soundtrack, so much more than a game of riichi mahjong.

This has a lower overall rating compared to other anime, probably for the artstyle (which will grow on you), and lack of crying, fight scenes, and huge character developments. I personally don't think the story needs any of that to be brilliant.

Watch Akagi to become a winner.

work of genius

This is an anime on par with deathnote. its a classic. I like the edgy dark atmoshphere it creates and the characters are complex and well developed.
