A spacecraft bearing aliens makes earth-fall in the mountains of California. The creatures find shelter in a remote cabin. A snowmobile rider is stranded nearby after his sled breaks down or runs out of gas. He falls victim to the creatures when he seeks refuge inside and follows sounds of alien activity in the basement. Four weeks later, seven passengers aboard a small plane bound for a ski resort, wind up at the same cabin after a forced emergency landing. The group find themselves being terrorized by the lethal predatory extraterrestrial beasts residing in the cabin's basement. As the skiers stalk them, the creatures shoot out green tendrils that pierce a victim's torso and then rapidly drag them away. Each time the remaining survivors regroup to try new strategies to kill the aliens. A revolver seems to have killed an alien until one of the humans gets too close. Eventually, fireplace andirons, hair spray torches, and dynamite are considered. The ultimate plan is to rig a remote detonation for the dynamite and flee on foot through the snow.
