Alan Ritchson is now best known for ‘Fast X’ and ‘Reacher,’ a popular show based on Lee Child’s book series. He’s steadily rising as a major action star. But before landing big roles, Ritchson was just trying to break into Hollywood. He auditioned for the role of Marvel’s God of Thunder in the 2011 standalone movie ‘Thor.’ However, Ritchson admitted in his interview with Men’s Health that he didn’t take the role too seriously.
I didn’t take it seriously.I was like, They’ll throw me the part if I look like the guy; nobody really cares about acting.
This turned out to be wrong, as his audition for the role didn’t impress, and it eventually went to Hemsworth, who became iconic as the God of Thunder. It seems Ritchson was affected by this failed audition.
Before MCU’s Thor, Ritchson had already landed superhero roles.

Alan Ritchson is nowadays most associated with ‘Fast X’ and ‘Reacher’ an incredibly popular show based on a series of books written by Lee Child. He is slowly but surely becoming the biggest action name we have currently. But before he managed to score several big roles Ritchson was just looking for work trying to break it in Hoolywood and he found himself auditioning for Marvel’s God of Thunder for his 2011 standalone movie ‘Thor.’
Ritchson revealed however that he didn’t take the role too seriously in his interview with Men’s Health:

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the midseason finale of Fox’s “Prodigal Son.”)
Ainsley Whitly (Halston Sage) proved just how underestimated she is on Tuesday’s “Prodigal Son” when she managed to deceive her brother and expert profiler, Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne).
After last week’s episode ended with Ainsley showing up at Malcolm’s apartment covered in blood — having seemingly blacked out again before Malcolm could reveal to her that she was actually the one who murdered Nicholas Endicott (Dermot Mulroney) — tonight’s hour closed with Ainsley confessing she’s known the truth for some time now. But Ainsley only gave up that info to Malcolm after screwing with her big bro’s head for the better part of the “Prodigal Son” installment, titled “Face Value,” by creating an elaborate trap to suggest she might have committed another murder without knowing it, just to punish him for “gaslighting” her for months.

Head Case: Silver Returns With Another Slice of Low-fi Discomfort
At the end of the final credits of Soft in the Head, Nathan Silver dedicates his latest film “For the Idiot,” a nod to his inspiration for as partially being born out of a desire to adapt Dostoevsky’s famous classic, The Idiot, concerning a character released from a sanitarium, whose subsequent interactions with the outside world suggests that the cruelty and duplicity of others is more vicious than the sanitarium. In his 2012 darkly comedic Exit Elena, Silver examines an awkward and uncomfortable relationship allowed to develop because of accepted notions of polite social exchange in a situation predicated by monetary necessity for its main character. His latest also glorifies in the discomfort of mixing company of those living in the comfortable scripts of their lives with the instability of those in a slipping down desperation to find themselves without proper support or resources.

Drake Doremus returned to Sundance last month with Breathe In, his follow-up to the award-winning Like Crazy that debuted at the festival back in 2011.
The drama seems him reuniting with Felicity Jones once more, and I couldn’t be more excited about this film.
Following its debut out in Park City, Qed International picked up Breathe In to handle its non-American distribution rights, bringing it to the Berlinale this month for potential distributors. And now the film’s first poster has debuted online, giving us a great new look at Jones and her co-star, Guy Pearce.
“As summer turns to fall, music teacher Keith Reynolds privately reminisces about his days as a starving artist in the city. While his wife, Megan, and daughter, Lauren, look forward to Lauren’s final year of high school, Keith clings to those evenings he’s asked to sub as a cellist with a prestigious Manhattan symphony.

"Scrubs" and "Cougar Town" creator Bill Lawrence will return to NBC with a pilot he's producing with comedian and actress Ali Wentworth.
The project is called "Ali in Wonderland," and it's based on Wentworth's ("Head Case," "In Living Color") memoir of the same title. Wentworth and Liz Tuccillo ("Sex and the City," "He's Just Not That Into You") will write the script and executive produce with Lawrence, Deadline reports.

Tom (Bob Clendenin) may never be a full-fledged member of the cul-de-sac crew on "Cougar Town," but for at least part of Season 4, he won't have to stand outside Jules' (Courteney Cox) window by himself.

Steve Landesberg, best known to television audiences as Det. Sgt. Arthur Dietrich on the '70s sitcom "Barney Miller," died today following a long battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.
Landesberg joined the regular cast of "Barney Miller" in its second season, distinguishing Dietrich from the rest of the Greenwich Village police station's motley crew of detectives by making him the intellectual straight man and a likable know-it-all. Although movie buffs may recognize Landesberg from his recent appearance in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, in which he played Peter Bretter's pediatrician, the veteran character actor portrayed Dietrich on the classic ABC sitcom until the end of the series' run in 1982. Landesberg even reprised the role for the short-lived "Barney Miller" spinoff "Fish," a vehicle for fellow castmember Abe Vigoda.
Born November 23, 1945, in New York, NY, Landesberg's father owned a grocery store, and his mother was a milliner. Landesberg started out in show business doing stand-up, and he also performed with an improvisational group called The New York Stickball Team.
After "Barney Miller" went off the air, the actor did extensive voice-over work, as well as making numerous guest appearances on a variety of television series including "The Golden Girls," "Seinfeld,""Everybody Hates Chris," and a featured guest appearance in an episode of A&E's "The Cleaner." His most recent regular role was Dr. Myron Finkelstein on the Starz original comedy "Head Case," for which he co-wrote seven episodes.
Landesberg is also credited with the quote "Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defense."...

Landesberg died of cancer, according to TMZ. Landesberg's agent did not respond to TheWrap's requests for confirmation. Landesberg joined "Barney Miller" in the show's second season and remained a key figure there, playing the bookish and widely knowledgeable detective Dietrich. Head Case revolves around a therapist who works with celebrities in Los Angeles. The performers sometimes have to deal with big professional disappointments, like when their TV shows are cancelled. Unfortunately, the actors on the Starz series now have firsthand knowledge of how that feels.
Alexandra Wentworth stars as Dr. Elizabeth Goode, an unapologetically frank therapist. Her unconventional methods have made her the "It" counselor in Hollywood and her practice has thrived. Regular performers on the series also include Steve Landesberg, Michelle Arthur, Candace Dean Brown, Rob Benedict, and Aris Alvarado.
The Starz series debuted in April of 2007 as 10-minute vignettes and evolved into half-hour episodes. Head Case became a showcase for performers who wanted to play themselves and get some "tough love" onscreen. Those that have been "helped" include Andy Dick, Greg Grunberg, Jeff Probst, Tori Spelling, Tom Sizemore, Jason Lewis, Sean...

Season two of the hit A&E original scripted drama series The Cleaner, starring Benjamin Bratt, Grace Park, Amy Price-Francis and Esteban Powell premieres Tuesday, June 23 at 10Pm Et/Pt. The second season will feature thirteen one-hour episodes.
In its first season, on a weekly three telecast cume basis, The Cleaner averaged 4.2 million total viewers, 2.4 million adults 25-54 and 2.2 million adults 18-49 in primetime, becoming the number one original drama in A&E history.
Inspired by the true story of real life "extreme interventionist" Warren Boyd, who also co-executive produces the series, The Cleaner stars Bratt as William Banks, a recovering addict who must balance his unwavering dedication to helping others get clean with an increasingly rocky personal life and the ghosts of his addictions. Banks and his teammates Akani Cuesta (Park) and Arnie Swenton (Powell) employ an unconventional - and often by any means necessary - approach to getting...

The best comedies of late on the smallscreen are coming to an end tonight on Starz. This makes me very sad. "Head Case" and "Party Down" are truly original, hilarious shows that feature fiercely talented ensemble casts. "Head Case" is headed up by the brilliant Ali (Alexandra) Wentworth, who leads a cavalcade of top stars through an exercise of improv and comedic thinking on their feet. My favorite moment hands down from this season has to be the Dr. Myron Finkelstein (Steve Landesberg) Hasidic kidnapping and subsequent "torture" annoyance scene, which sets up tonight's episode where Dr. Goode travels back to New York City to get Finkelstein out of his .mistaken identity. trouble. While there, Dr.

Starz channel owns Friday night for comedy. Their bright spot original comedy series are "Head Case" and "Party Down." Starz has sent over some clips for tonight's episodes. "Case" stars improv comedian Alexandra Wentworth as Dr. Elizabeth Goode, a narcissistic $450-an-hour therapist whose own issues trump her famous clients she treats in Beverly Hills. Goode entertains her "patients" Macy Gray, Jerry Seinfeld, Janeane Garofalo, James Denton, Paulina Porizkova, Kevin Nealon, designer Isaac Mizrahi and magician Lance Burton this season. Its amazing what a little "gay flavoring" will do for a TV series' exposure. (At least around here!) Apparently the comedy Head Case has been airing on Starz for 3 whole seasons and I've never even heard of the darn thing.
That's a little surprising, because based upon this weekend's episode it seems exactly the sort of thing I'd watch.
HeadCase is an improvisational comedy which follows Hollywood therapist Dr. Jane Goode (Alexandra Wentworth). You sit it on her counseling sessions with various celebrities willing to poke fun at their public image.
Friday's episode featured amusing appearances by Desperate Housewives' show runner Marc Cherry, and actors Kevin Rahm & James Denton. The setup: Cherry wants the character Mike Delfino to go gay, only he is getting a lot of resistance from Denton, the actor who plays him. Rahm is there to help convince Denton that going gay is a logical step for his character.

Starz network show "Head Case" is one of the best comedies on television. The unscripted show is a poke in the kishkas to the cloistered, indulgent world of the already self-absorbed celebrities who need someone to unload on, and the overpaid gurus that service them. Enter Dr. Elizabeth Goode, (Alexandra Wentworth), an Ivy-league narcissistic Wasp-y psychiatrist who uses each clients' $450.00-an-hour session as a window into her own set of issues de jour. The judgmental and argumentative Dr. Goode has an A to D-list roster of luminaries who seek answers, and wind up leaving with more questions. "Head Case" was launched in 2007 as a ten-minute segment. The genuinely funny, unscripted series has grown into a real...
