First 10 minutes to 'Stalked' gave me high hopes that this third vanity project in a row from Jorgo Ognenovski was gonna be a banger and it didn't disappoint. First there's that reteaming with Nick Hill just in the opening credits. Then a super simple setup continued via a real simple story that checked all the boxes. Self serving dialog, dumb characters, tons of poorly shot action and most importantly lots of laughs.
"Listen Aleksandar ... we're friends, right? Right?"
Maj. Ben Davis (Hill) stationed in Macedonia picks the wrong bar to get a drink in only to be saved by Aleksandar (Ognenovski). Former military man who wants to move to America which Ben can make happen. Ditto getting him set up with a bar to run in his hometown. It's Mayor Duffy (Meto Jovanovski) who throws a wrench into plans to settle down when Julie (Lisa Marie Wilson) - Ben's sister - rejects his advances. Now setup for a murder he didn't commit can Alek stay alive, one step ahead and clear his name?
"We're out of gas, Julie! Bad Luck!"
Jorgo still belting out unconvincing dialog lacking an ounce of emotion and a stilted English line delivery. Shotguns used for long distance and the hero with unlimited ammo. Guys with rifles, assault rifles unable to hit him in the wide open. Tons of Alek hobbling around on one leg. An obvious and very unsexy love making scene that doesn't supply female nudity. A 3-2-1 execution countdown. The all too convenient ending.
"I knew there was something fishy, but I couldn't put my finger on it."
'Stalked' doesn't match the level of bad movie vanity cheese 'Warrior of Justice' had, but comes pretty damn close. Nothing here is original and obviously the story of an innocent man on the run caught largely in the forest being hunted is heavily inspired by 'Rambo'. However if you can't get enough of poor writing, suspect acting and an awful yet funny part always around the corner, 'Stalked' is worth checking out.
