BBC Studios Inks China Co-Production Deal for New Natural History Series
BBC Studios has signed a co-production deal with Chinese firms Tencent Penguin Pictures and the state-run China Media Group CCTV9 for its new natural history series “Seven Worlds, One Planet.”

The series will look at how animal life and behavior has been shaped by the unique environmental circumstances of each of our seven continents. In Asia, it will look more at animals living at the extremes, while in Europe, it will delve into unexpected wildlife living closer to home.

The deal is a continuation of a long and growing partnership between BBC Studios and the Chinese firms. The British broadcaster started working with CCTV9 as early as 2008, when they co-produced the series “Wild China.” They have since collaborated on projects such as “Africa,” “Blue Planet II,” and, most recently, “Dynasties.”

“We’ve been partnering with BBC Studios for some time to bring premium documentaries to our audiences in China,” said...

Netflix Is Yanking These Movies and Shows on February 1, 2015
Netflix is expiring a slew of movies and TV shows in February -- but don't panic! As we previously reported, several BBC series including "Doctor Who" and the original British "The Office" that were once set to leave Netflix on Feb. 1 are staying put. However, several other BBC titles will be disappearing Feb 1. According to Variety, bid a sad toodle-doo to "Fawlty Towers," "Blackadder" and "Mi:5." (Don't worry, "Sherlock" isn't due to expire anytime soon.)

As for movies, the clock is ticking on "Zodiac," "Batman Returns," "Apocalypse Now," and "Mad Max," which will also be pulled in the monthly purge.

Here's the complete list of titles that will vanish from your streaming list (pending any sort of meddling time-travelers):

Netflix Titles Expiring February 1, 2015

"Airheads" (1994)

"Allosaurus: Walking With Dinosaurs Special" (2001)

Celebrate Earth Day With BBC And Fantastic Giveaways
Earth Day is right around the corner, and it probably isn’t any surprise that BBC Home Entertainment wants to help you celebrate. They have an amazing sweepstakes going on right now (see full details below), but with the release of Frozen Planet, I want to give you something to win right here as well.

It’s awfully difficult trying to compare to an actual Polar Bear Adventure, especially one that includes serious treks into Polar Bear country, dog sleds, and airfare, but I think I’ve got something you’ll be interested in.

As I’m sure you well know, when it comes to Earth Day possibilities, there are no shortage of titles available from BBC, and I have a great selection in store for you. As long as it’s Earth Day, we might as well take a look at… well, the Earth. While we’re at it,...

DVD Review: Wild China
Photo: Warner Home Video In conjunction with taking on the origins of the Earth I also recently traveled to the land of China via another BBC nature doc called "Wild China" narrated by King Theoden himself, Bernard Hill. "Wild China" was seen on the BBC in May and June of 2008 and here in the States on the Travel Channel in late July and early August. The DVD and Blu-ray hit store shelves on August 5 and is made up of six, hour-long, segments focused on not only the wildlife of China, but also the way it affects and interacts with human life. From the beautiful Himalayas to the Gobi desert this doc covers it all leaving no stone unturned and it is expertly edited together and never lacking in wonder. The six parts to this series are titled "Heart of the Dragon," "Shangri La," "Tibet," "Beyond the Great Wall," "Land of...
