After making huge waves out of last year’s Toy Fair, Trick or Treat Studios is at the annual Halloween Party Expo to share a handful of new products slated for 2025.
While John Squires unveils some of the more horror-related goodies, I’m excited to share a first look at Trick or Treat’s “Fallout” masks, which are just the first in a major line that will include power armor helmet replicas, Halloween decor, weapon replicas, and so much more.
These “Retro” masks are made of hard plastic that can be placed over the front of the face, while the regular “Vault Boy/Girl” masks will be vinyl whole-head masks.
Take a look below…
These are just a couple products that Trick or Treat Studios has given us sneak preview first looks at here on Bloody Disgusting, and you’ll find much, much more where they came from by following...

The Phunny Plush line from Kidrobot has so far included the likes of Michael Myers, Pennywise, Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, Regan from The Exorcist, Gizmo and some Gremlins, a Killer Klown from Outer Space… and there are a lot more characters joining the line in March, as you can see on Entertainment Earth. Upcoming additions include Chucky, Leatherface, Ghostface, Sam from Trick ‘r Treat, The Grabber from The Black Phone – and even Blade and Torch from Full Moon‘s Puppet Master franchise!
Blade was introduced in the original Puppet Master, which was directed by David Schmoeller from a script that was crafted by Kenneth J. Hall and Joseph G. Collodi, and has the following synopsis: Assailed by nightmarish visions, Alex Whitaker (Paul Le Mat) and his fellow psychics descend on the Bodega Bay Inn. There, they discover that their compatriot Neil (Jimmie F. Scaggs) has apparently committed suicide. But, as the gruesome visions continue,...

Writer/director Michael Dougherty rose up through the Hollywood ranks authoring the scripts for multiple major blockbusters. He co-wrote the screenplay to "X2: X-Men United" and "Superman Returns" (both of which were directed by the now-disgraced Bryan Singer), and proved his horror chops with "Urban Legends: Bloody Mary," a straight-to-video threequel to the oh-yeah-i-remember-that slasher franchise from the late 1990s. Dougherty's directorial debut, the horror anthology "Trick 'r Treat," saw a slow release in 2007, but became a Halloween standard almost immediately thereafter. The man knows how to terrify audiences. His most recent film was the big-budget monster movie "Godzilla: King of the Monsters," the third film in the U.S. MonsterVerse series.
Dougherty's best film, however, came in 2015 when he made "Krampus," a Christmas horror film that's just as much a holiday standard as "Trick 'r Treat," only for Christmas. It features one of the coolest, scariest monsters of...

‘Tis the season to watch holiday-themed horror, so we here at Arrow in the Head have decided to compile a list of the Best Christmas Horror Movies! All of the films below are, at the very least, set around Christmastime, and some of them take the connection to the holidays further than that. Here are the top 12 horror movies that we recommend checking out over the next week:
I Come In Peace (1990)
It’s easy to forget that I Come in Peace (a.k.a. Dark Angel) is set around the Christmas holiday, because Christmas is mostly just represented by some set decorations – and you’re distracted from those decorations by all the awesome stuff going on around them. Dolph Lundgren stars as Jack Caine, a Houston detective who doesn’t play by the rules. He’s stuck working with stuffy, suit-wearing FBI agent Larry Smith (Brian Benben), and these...

The horror genre is commonly associated with autumn because of Halloween. October is a month to dress up, go trick-or-treating, and indulge in fun scares, so horror movies are a perfect addition to the Halloween traditions. Horror buffs will argue that horror movies are a year-round event, though. While iconic films like Halloween (1978) and Trick 'r Treat (2007) do revolve around Halloween, the horror genre has invaded just about every holiday imaginable.
From Valentine's Day to Easter to Christmas, no holiday is as safe as its wholesome festivities might suggest. My Bloody Valentine (1981), Holidays (2016), Leprechaun (1993), and even Jaws (1975) all tell stories that are about or take place on a specific holiday. When it comes to holiday horror movies, the holiday season is, by far, the most saturated. These movies are perfect for streaming on a chilly winter night during the holiday break.

Netflix’s fifth and final original Christmas movie for 2024 is now streaming, and this one is animated. But you’re still going to recognize a whole lot of the cast.
Written and directed by Richard Curtis, who brought fans “Love, Actually,” the film centers on a group of people in a small town in the UK, getting ready to celebrate Christmas. Like “Love, Actually,” the story is told via vignettes, jumping around between different groups and pairings.
And as you meet those groups and pairings, you’re definitely going to recognize some of those voices. Here’s who we have.
Netflix/Getty Images Santa (Brian Cox)
The big man himself is voiced by Brian Cox, who you likely know from his time on “Succession,” or films including “X2: X-Men United,” “Troy,” “Red,” “Zodiac” and “Trick ‘r Treat,” among many others.

Horror movies are the perfect films to watch during Halloween, making it the holiday of choice for many of them. Eli Roth's slasher movie Thanksgiving brought a heaping helping of horror on another day of the year. While it's certainly a change of pace, it's not the only explicitly holiday-themed scary movie.
Christmas is another popular time to spread holiday fear, with some movies decking the halls with bowels of victims. Conversely, one fearsome movie explores the concept of a particularly bad birthday through the lens of another "holiday" movie. Add in a European pagan celebration for the changing of seasons, and it's clear that Thanksgiving will have some seasonal competition from discerning movie lovers.

The horror genre keeps churning out great movies, such as the intoxicating Hugh Grant thriller Heretic. Part of its success is how it's able to produce movies that not only terrify audiences with gross-out scenes or a well-timed jump-scare, but also be a ton of fun. A great example of this is the Terrifier series, with Terrifier 3's funniest moments arriving among the requisite brutality and gore. Thanks mainly to Art the Clown's silent, but deadly, humor.
However, it's not just more recent horror films that have managed to be creepy as all hell, while bringing some solid fun along the way. Classic franchises have gained popularity thanks to quick-witted villains like Freddy Krueger, who is also incredibly creepy. The great thing about the horror genre is its ability to bring audiences together, to share an experience that'll be intense, and uncomfortable at times, but also a lot of fun.

The marketing behind The Northman director Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu has made it clear that the inhuman visage of its central monster won’t be revealed until audiences arrive in theaters on Christmas Day. That’s all the more intriguing considering that descriptors like “erotic” and “sexualized” have been attached to Bill Skarsgård’s performance as Count Orlok, both in critical first reactions and from the cast.
Skarsgård even teased his character in an earlier chat with Esquire, saying: “He’s gross. But it is very sexualized. It’s playing with a sexual fetish about the power of the monster and what that appeal has to you. Hopefully you’ll get a little bit attracted by it and disgusted by your attraction at the same time.”
Of course, cinema’s history is filled with sexualized vampires that inspire lust, using it themselves to prey upon their victims. It’s an entirely...

It's not an easy job to deliver a fantastic sequel to an overwhelmingly successful movie. A sequel's reception has a lot to do with anticipation, how good the original is, and if it offers something new while not doing too much to alienate the established fan base. Film sequels have to juggle many aspects. Being a horror sequel, like Saw III or The Exorcist III, just makes things even harder.
One thing horror fans can agree on is that critics don't always "get" horror movies. When it comes to the horror genre, being critically acclaimed has very little to do with how much a certain work will appeal to horror fans. Sometimes, even audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes can be deceiving. Many movies with a rotten score turn out to be very decent films. This is no exception when it comes to sequels.

What does a chainsaw massacre smell like? And does killer pumpkin boy Sam actually smell like a pumpkin? The company Xyrena has managed to conjure up the answer to both of those admittedly bizarre questions, adding both The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Trick ‘r Treat into their “Cinematic Scent Archive” with the release of two brand new fragrances.
First up, The Cinematic Scent Archive (CSA) by Xyrena proudly inducts The Texas Chain Saw Massacre—recently named #1 on Variety’s list of the “Top 100 Horror Movies of All Time”—into its groundbreaking collection to celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary. Known for creating the world’s first and only collection of officially licensed, niche-quality fragrances spanning decades, genres, and studios, Xyrena—the Austin-based fragrance house—has crafted a scent that embodies the raw, haunting essence of one of horror’s most influential films.

Over on the JoBlo Horror Originals YouTube channel, we talk about horror movies and TV shows all year long, but this is truly the most wonderful time of the year. For many of us, Halloween is our favorite holiday – and to celebrate, the staff at JoBlo Horror Originals has put together a new video to showcase some of our favorite horror movie quotes of all time. This ranges from cult classic lines we repeat to our friends in private to popular lines that are referenced in all of pop culture, and we’re getting into them all. Now, I’m sure there will be some notable exclusions, as we did have to abide by strict copyright rules, but we certainly did our best to include the best of the best. From “Get away from her, you bitch!” to “I have to return some video tapes,” (American Psycho) we’ve got...

Since being released in 2009, Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat has become a true cult classic. The movie was originally delayed for two years, but despite all the odds stacked against it, it found an audience that embraced it as a true modern-day Halloween classic. The cult interest was enough to see a sequel announced in 2013, but news has been scarce about the follow-up...until now. With Trick 'r Treat releasing a new 4K Ultra HD edition that is bound to be a treat for fans, Dougherty has offered an update on the sequel that sounds promising.

The bungling of Trick ‘r Treat by Warner Bros. — shelving it after well-received festival screenings before unceremoniously dumping it straight to DVD in 2009 — is well-documented, but had it received a traditional theatrical release and underperformed, there’s a chance it may have never entered the cultural zeitgeist. Instead, its authentic cult roots allowed it to blossom into the contemporary classic we celebrate today.

Trick 'r Treat fans just got a much-needed update about the franchise's big-screen future. Michael Doughtery, who wrote and directed the original horror movie, recently offered a positive update on the long-gestating sequel.
In a new commentary track for Trick 'r Treat, released in Arrow Video's 4K Ultra HD edition of the movie, Dougherty opened up about the difficulties plaguing the sequel, which was first announced back in 2013. "Its tricky, because I think we really did capture lightning in a bottle with this one, and it nearly killed me. What a lot of people dont realize is that the bulk of our favorite horror movies, especially the ones that introduced new horror icons, were all independent movies," said Dougherty (via Bloody Disgusting) about having to work within the studio system for Trick 'r Treat.

Director Mike Dougherty has been slowly pushing forward Trick ‘r Treat 2, the long-awaited sequel to his horror anthology film Trick ‘r Treat (watch it Here). Two years ago, he said the sequel is in “very active development“ and last year he mentioned that there is a “really great script” in place that he wrote with his Krampus collaborators Zach Shields and Todd Casey. He also revealed that the new film will give Trick ‘r Treat’s little icon Sam a “proper nemesis” to face off with. So what’s taking this movie so long to get into production? Dougherty addresses the delay during an audio commentary track that’s included on the newly released 4K edition of the film from Arrow Video (you can pick up a copy at This Link).

Since its release 17 years ago, Michael Dougherty's horror anthology film Trick 'r Treat has developed quite a cult following despite receiving a straight-to-dvd release. Fans have long sung its praises as a severely underappreciated slasher masterpiece. Furthermore, critics have identified it as a solid horror film robbed of mainstream treatment. Now, after nearly a two-decade wait, it can be enjoyed from the comfort (or shall we say discomfort?) of your own home. Trick 'r Treat began streaming on Max last month. So, what is it about this creepy sleeper hit that makes it so underrated, and why is it only coming to streaming now?

Fan-favorite horror film Trick 'r Treat is receiving a comic book extension from Legendary Comics, which just launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project and has already nearly reached its goals. Now, horror fans can begin to get excited about the return of franchise mascot Sam, and the exciting anthology format of the movie, in comic book form.
The Kickstarter page is now live for Trick 'r Treat: Witching Hours, agraphic novel that combines the talents of franchise creator Michael Dougherty with an all-star line-up of writers and artists for four new tales of terror set in the Trick 'r Treat universe.
These stories are set to include horrifying creatures, space-age horrors, ghosts and of course, Sam himself, and will hopefully keep fans satisfied until news regarding the long-awaited sequel to the original film, Trick 'r Treat 2 arrives in the future.

Director Mike Dougherty is slowing pushing forward Trick ‘r Treat 2, the long-awaited sequel to his horror anthology film Trick ‘r Treat (watch it Here). While we wait for that movie to make it into production, Legendary Comics has revealed that they’ve teamed up with Dougherty for a new graphic novel called Trick ‘r Treat: Witching Hours – and copies can be purchased through this Kickstarter campaign!

While we continue waiting for a sequel to the movie, the world of Trick ‘r Treat continues to expand in the comic book realm with Trick’ r Treat: Witching Hours, a new graphic novel from Legendary Comics and Rocketship Entertainment that’s available exclusively on Kickstarter.
This marks the first all-original Trick ‘r Treat graphic novel in a decade, presented by Trick’ r Treat creator and director Michael Dougherty. Also, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Michael Dougherty’s Krampus in 2025, a new edition of the tie-in graphic novel, Krampus: Shadow of Saint Nicholas, will be launched with a special Kickstarter edition.

Over on the JoBlo Horror Originals YouTube channel, we talk about horror movies and TV shows all year long – but that doesn’t mean that the “spooky season” building up to Halloween isn’t a special time of the year for us. I may watch horror movies all year, but for me October is a month-long horror marathon where I try to pack as many horror movies into each day as possible. Halloween is my favorite holiday, and it’s the day when I make sure to watch the likes of FleshEater (1988), Murder Party (2007), The Hollow (2004), Trick or Treat (1986), and Trick ‘r Treat (2007). And maybe something involving Michael Myers. In anticipation of the Halloween festivities, several of our JoBlo Horror Originals staff members got together to give some horror movie recommendations – and you can watch them reveal their Halloween viewing picks in the video embedded above!

There are plenty of Trick 'R Treat rules that Sam enforces, and the unlucky few who break them pay the ultimate price. Michael Dougherty directed Trick 'R Treat, an anthology film set on Halloween night in a small town. Horror comedy is a tricky genre, as the scares and humor can easily cancel each other out. However, Trick 'R Treat walks that tonal tightrope while subverting genre clichs and stereotypes. John Carpenter's Halloween may be considered the best movie about the titular celebration, but Trick 'R Treat also stands the test of time as a cult Halloween classic.
Trick 'R Treat and its Halloween stories involve zombies, werewolves, and slasher killers, but it's all held together by Sam. Trick 'R Treat's Sam looks like a young trick-or-treater, but he's a demonic being who enforces the rules of the holiday; his name also derives from Samhain, the Gaelic festival that inspired Halloween.

Gary Dauberman's "Salem's Lot" has had a bumpy ride. The Stephen King adaptation was originally supposed to hit theaters in 2022. Then it got delayed to 2023. Then it got pulled from the release calendar entirely. Since "Salem's Lot" is a Warner Bros. production, there was a growing fear that this vampire movie would go the way of WB's "Batgirl" and "Coyote vs. Acme" and never see the light of day. King got involved, taking to Twitter and pondering why the studio was sitting on the flick. "Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it's embarrassing, or anything," the master of horror said. Rumors eventually began to swirl that "Salem's Lot" might skip theaters entirely and go directly to WB's streaming service, Max. Sure enough, the studio finally announced that was the case: "Salem's Lot" is destined to stream on Max this October, just in time for Halloween season.
