Carmo

This well written,scripted and acted film was a nice surprise!

It's amazing how a low budget film can easily outshine most of the garbage coming out of Hollywood these days with huge budgets.

I really enjoyed the on screen chemistry between "carmo" and "marco". These characters were heartfelt and realistically portrayed. The supporting characters were quirky,funny and very entertaining with their idiosyncratic schisms. It doesn't hurt that Mariana Loureiro is a total hottie and an incredible actress. I Highly recommended this Brazilian "road film" and I bet it that will keep you laughing and feeling good right til the end. I wish it was shot on film instead of digital but i'm sure cost was a concern in this film's budget,

One of the best Brazilian films so far.

To explore the context of the Brazilian borders with neighboring countries was a major insight, and can still be used beyond this one film. These borders are a rich and intense context and to me will certainly capture the attention of many once it is out and exposed, much like it happened with the Favelas.

Aside from that, Carmo's storyline is exciting from the beginning to the end with excellent casting, both, main characters and secondary ones.

There is not one person that has seen this movie that will not tell me that it makes to the top 3 Brazilian movies so far.

Despite being widely recognized and acclaimed in Mostras, the movie is not released yet and could only be seen in Mostras de Cinema. A real pity when economic interest gets in the way of art and public.

Carmo, Hit The Road is about two people who find companionship and love in the rural back country of Brazil where lawlessness, recklessness and rape run amok. The film follows these two characters on a gritty journey to escape the hell around them. Marco rescues Carmo and Carmo rescues Marco in a similar circumstance. A sexual film of much perversions and pain and yet there is hope constantly following them, a cupid of sorts in the form of Jesus and a Spiritual Boss. The film has a Pulp Fiction camp to it that works quite well...well, unless you get easily offended at the constant male intrusion of forced sex. The film grows lighter with each passing hardship as Marco and Carmo become more reliant and attracted to each other. Predictable perhaps, but the two leads carry the weight of the film magnificently. A film of perseverance and strife, of truth and pain. A Charm lying in a sea of filth. One of my favorites films as it was unexpected and directed with a well composed hand. Brilliant and effective. Not for those with a weak stomach or delicate and protected mind.
