Paramount has released the trailer for “Freediver,” a documentary from director and writer Michael John Warren. The film, based on the GQ article “Secrets of the Deep” by Daniel Riley, will be available on digital Dec. 7, 2024.
After geopolitics forced him into exile, the world’s greatest living freediver, Alexey Molchanov, fights to reclaim his athletic glory and honor his iconic mother’s towering legacy by attempting the most dominant season in the history of the deadly sport. His near-suicidal quest to set five world records in under four months brings him to the farthest reaches of the globe and his mind, forcing him to reevaluate the very skills on which he has built his entire life. Watch the trailer below.
The trailer states, “The goal of competitive freediving is simple: Dive as deep as you can on a single breath…and come back up alive.” Molchanov reveals, “I’m very competitive.

For years the space at 226 West 44th Street in Manhattan was known as Discovery Times Square; it served as a tourist-oriented gallery space that housed temporary exhibits that alternated between artifacts like the Dead Sea Scrolls or Chinese terracotta warriors and contemporary pop—and film—culture like The Avengers, Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. By and large these relied on physical items and held little relevance to those interested in film and video. On October 6, however, the space reopened as National Geographic Encounter, and the first exhibit there, Ocean Odyssey, relies entirely on interactive video, motion-tracking gaming technology, 3D animation and intricate […]...

Alexandria, Va. -- A trove of previously unshown Dr. Seuss works is going on display at P & C Art Gallery.
"Secrets of the Deep," which opens Friday, features works that were never shown during Theodor Seuss Geisel's (aka Dr. Seuss') lifetime. Some were so hidden they were kept behind a false door in the La Jolla, Calif., home that Geisel shared with his wife Audrey.
These pieces were Geisel's private works, he called them his "midnight paintings" -- they include a self-portrait of Geisel as a rather bedraggled Cat in the Hat, a sweet sketch of two snuggling fish, a softly cutting parody of La Jolla socialites and other personal, sometimes dark, always whimsical works.
The Dr. Seuss pieces being shown at P & C are not originals, they're limited edition prints produced after Geisel's death. Ask William Dreyer, curator of "The Art of Dr. Seuss" -- the licensing...

Blow Out (Criterion) Brian De Palma’s greatest Hitchcock homage, with a dash of Antonioni thrown in for good measure. John Travolta gives one of his best turns as a sound-effects engineer who unwittingly records a political assassination, then finds himself hunted by a ruthless hitman (John Lithgow, a memorably creepy psycho) after saving the life of the kindly, albeit dim-witted call girl (Nancy Allen, excellent) who was with the deceased. Terrific blend of suspense and very black humor, perhaps De Palma’s finest hour as an auteur. Beautifully shot by Vilmos Zsigmond. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Interviews with De Palma, Allen, cameraman Garrett Brown; Photo gallery; De Palma’s 1967 feature Murder a la Mod; Trailer. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS-hd 2.0 surround.
Kes (Criterion) Ken Loach’s landmark 1970 film is both a heart-rending portrait of adolescence, and a pointed socio-political commentary on life in the North of England.
