Talking about how his fascination with Vivek started, the actor shared: “In 2019, when ‘The Tashkent Files’ released, I remember seeing it in the theatres. Vardhan got the number late at night but he messaged Vivek because he wanted to share his feelings with the director after watching the film.
The actor said: “It was because that’s how impacted I was from the film. I texted him that I am an actor who recently finished shooting his first film and would really love to work with him. And...

It's one thing to glance at a headline about a terrible tragedy. It's quite another to witness actions over a period of months that eventually lead to a horrifying disaster. Inspired by a true story, Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain, directed by Ravi Kumar, rewinds to India in 1984, as a pesticide plant owned by Union Carbide India Limited, a subsidiary of U.S.-based Union Carbide, operates under increasingly shaky conditions of safety. Dilip (Rajpal Yadav), a local resident who is grateful for any job, starts as a cleaner at the plant and steadily moves up the work ladder. He is only too happy to be able to support (modestly) his wife and children, and his loyalty is rewarded. Dilip is befriended by Motwani (Kal Penn),...

Although this year’s most memorable performances were delivered by women, there are many actors that deserve being recognised for the good job they’ve done in the year 2014. Here is BollySpice’s list of the top 10 actors who wowed us with their performances!
10. Varun Dawan (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Main Tera Hero)
This year the actor of Student of the Year explored his most romantic side. With his loveable portrayal of the boy who has to overcome numerous obstacles to win his beloved’s heart, the actor also won many hearts among the audience with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. He had us wishing for more of David Dhawan’s style of cinema with Main Tera Hero when he fully immersed himself in the loud comedy genre with great ease. 2015 looks promising for the Varun, as he is busy with two interesting and different productions, the action film Badlapur,...

Powerful messages, stunning cinematography and authentic performances – 2014 was a good year for independent (indie) cinema. Here is a list of some of our favourites which are worth catching if you missed them.
Ilai (Leaf)
Director Rajiv Reddy’s film traced the journey of a young homeless girl in India, Chennai. Ilai was a good exploration of human emotion, survival and regeneration. The performances were outstanding and natural. Profoundly, the protagonist returns to the same place that she had started off at at the beginning of the film; however, this time she sees the world with different eyes. The film highlights how experiences impact the human soul. We saw this at the London Indian Film Festival and our reviewer wrote, “At times, the cinematography will have you spell bound. Artistic shots of the sun and the streets make this film a visual treat: for instance, a particular shot of the heat...

After Happy New Year, none of the new releases has done well at the box office. In fact November has turned out to be one of the poorest ever for Bollywood in last few years. Hence, all eyes are on the first release of December, Action Jackson, to bring in some revival of sorts for the industry. It is pretty much required as well since good run for a film only fetches audience for the next that hits the screens. Now since sentiments amongst audience have been so disturbed for last few weeks that it is ending up impacting even the opening day of so many films where there are no footfalls being registered whatsoever.
All of this means that the opening of the Ajay Devgn-Sonakshi Sinha starrer is being awaited with bated breath. A lot is riding on the film, also due to the fact that it...

Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain, the social thriller scripted around the Bhopal gas tragedy of 1984, has opened to rave reviews in American theatres. Directed by Ravi Kumar and produced by Sahara Movie Studios and Rising Star Entertainment, the film has found an emotional resonance with audiences and critics alike.
We loved it here at Bollyspice saying, “Raajpal Yadav is brilliant in his role as Dilip. Tannishtha Chatterjee is wonderful and is the heart of the film. Hollywood met Bollywood at one of the biggest and best platforms of cinema to turn back time to an event that shook our country. Kal Penn, best known for Harold and Kumar and The Namesake, and our very own Raajpal Yadav and Manoj Joshi came together at the 16th Mumbai Film Festival in Chandan Cinema, Juhu to talk about their new film Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain, the social thriller woven around the biggest chemical disaster ever. The actors launched an all new trailer of the film directed by Ravi Kumar along with special unseen footage and behind the scene action. This pre-release presentation on the film was also attended by Ravi Walia (Co-producer) of Rising Star Entertainment. Revolving around a poor man named Dilip (Yadav) who lands himself a job at the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, the film digs deep into what went into the infamous gas leak.

Nymphomaniac: One Night Stand, Nationwide
That Lars von Trier, he's a naughty one, eh? And befitting its subject matter, his latest grandiose provocation has been preceded by a prolonged foreplay-session of teaser trailers and titillating rumours. Now, for one night only, you can watch both halves of the movie back to back before it goes on release in two halves later this month. Despite being four hours long and sexually explicit, it's far from the sado-masochistic experience it sounds, with digressions into baroque music, fly fishing and dessert forks, and a steady procession of familiar faces including Uma Thurman, Christian Slater, Jamie Bell and Willem Dafoe. Afterwards, you'll be rewarded with a satellite Q&A, live from the Curzon Chelsea, in which three of the film's stars – Von Trier veteran Stellan Skarsgård and Britons Stacy Martin...
