Diversity in NYC

Initially I did not accept the comments on this movie, however, after reading I did. Possibly, in this neighborhood, it was difficult during this time. I felt the opposite. I thought this time showed an amazing sense of community - everyone came together. All the stores gave free water to people who were walking home as a result of no transportation, etc. Nonetheless, as mentioned, I understand it may not have been the same in all neighborhoods. This was a time that I saw NYC come together like no other less the events of September the eleventh. On another note - is what happened in this movie a true indication of what COULD happen if we lost power for an extended period of time (power which is an EXPECTED utility of Americans)? Yes.

People can't see a good movie when it's staring them in the face.

This movie was really good for me and totally realistic. The production was good and the actors were more than standard. Everything, from dialogue to emotional reactions came from somewhere and that matters when you consider some of the realities the movie is show-casing. People complain about stereotyped characters, but face it, the world is full of stereotypes who follow their given script without question. These characters are also beautifully contrasted with people who aren't stereotypical 'thugs' and that's what I like about this movie - the different ways of living in one shared space.

Also it is totally worth your time.

I saw it @ Urban World

The movie was very good. I liked it. I missed out on the Tribeca screening but was able to make the urban world screening. My favorite part was when one couple was having a talk about how did one got home when there was a black out and the guy just got bagged for for not telling the truth. I wont get into detail because I don't want to give it away. The movie director was def. inspired by spike lee, you can catch a scene or two of "do the right thing" It was one part or two in the movie that i thought was a little over done but thats just an opinion. The after party of the screening was nice. a lot of people showed up. Vibe magazine was taking pictures, people was having fun.

thank you Judith.

Not good at all. Other Reviews very inaccurate !

After seeing some good reviews on IMDb For this pointless waste of time i decided to watch it with a group of mates.

BIG MISTAKE!

I want my sat night back, but more, i want the trust i also lost with my friends back, as i will probably never be allowed to choose a movie again.

Don't get me wrong, this movie looked pretty good at the start. Building up characters for the audience to slightly get connected to, Only to lead to absolutely nothing. I was expecting to see another LA riot. But what you get is about as exciting as the dramas in the Brady Bunch movie. This movie dragged on building up its climax only fizzel out just when things looked good.

This would barely make it as a mid-day movie. It gets a 3 because the acting was pretty good.

But having a black-out in your own home would be just as exciting.

Good movie

Blackout is a movie about the blackout in New York that happened a couple of years ago. The movie provides a realistic image of what happened during the blackout and what could happen if you ever encounter a blackout in a similar neighborhood. The only reason why the viewer rating is not 8+ is because most people expect another violent gangster movie and it isn't. Watch this if you feel like watching New York reality-TV. The camera-views are good, the acting is very good and the sound is fine. The sound/music could use some tweaking here and there but it's not going to change the way you experience the movie.

Everyone should watch this movie. Even if the topic doesn't interest you, the movie will have an effect on you and how you will react if similar problems occur in your life.

Excellent drama - full of emotions and realistic human aspects

This movie turned out perfect. It had the rich point of view of an indie film, while it had a perfect cast and Hollywood standard of high quality footage. The characters are very believable in this movie, and the brilliant scenes were creating a great atmosphere of a Brooklyn block house and its surrounding. The streets were very alive and I haven't gotten bored for a single moment while watching this movie.

Girls in the flick are beautiful and some even little 'hoochie', which makes them even more hot. Zoe Saldana, the beauty of Dominican origin and Susan Watson really shined in this movie. Also not well known Khalida Outlaw was great and Sara Pickett was a great discovery, which will hopefully be seen a lot in the future.

The story is believed to be based on true characters and events. I don't want to spoil anything, but I can surely tell the movie graduates into very realistic drama events. There were comments like the whole building up characters gets them nowhere in the plot. That's absolutely not true. Each characters have a set of very own approach and perception of the reality that's going on. I recommend this film to anyone, and I'm rating it 8.
