Sons of Hollywood

I will admit that I have only seen one episode of SoH and perhaps the series will get better with future installments, but based on the pilot episode currently on AE On Demand, I will not be tuning in to see how the show develops.

I simply do not understand what exactly this show wants to show us, or has to offer from the glut of other reality t.v. currently airing today. There is not a single likable character - Not David Weintraub and his voice-overs that stress just what a big deal he is, and how he loves the Hollywood glitz and high life. Not Randy Spelling, whom seemed affable enough, but simply didn't do much of anything to imprint himself on a viewer one way or the other, and surely not Sean Stewart whom goes through lazy rich kid, spoiled aspiring musician, binge-drinking, aggressive behavior, and then blowing all his money at a casino and spending the rest of the night trying to bum money from his posse to continue playing. If the main cast comes off as a lesser Princes of Malibu, then the supporting cast is the very worst of entourage. I couldn't tell you any of their names, but I will say that every time they came into the camera's view, the viewing experience became even worse for me.

As to the show, what is the point? The main characters chain smoke, drink at every moment, order the most expensive meals at one restaurant then bemoan how low they have fallen when forced to eat eggs and hash browns at another, and basically do nothing interesting the entire show. No clever little moments, witty sayings, or interesting happenings that make you glad you tuned in. No, this is simply Rich Boys Gone Wild on their parents bank accounts and a camera crew in tow.

Total, complete waste of time in my opinion.

I know most reviews haven't been too nice and really made it sound like a show you shouldn't be watching but really you should give it a chance.

The show is great! I realize at times, the guys seem like they are trying a little too hard, can be real jerks i.e., Sean and sometimes they put the cheese on a little too thick. But this show finally shows most of us "normal" people that while we might not be rich and/or famous we might have better lives.

These guys, well mostly Sean, seem so confused at times and so unsure of how to act that it's a little sad… I know you say they have money they have connections why feel bad for them – but come on if your father was like this huge star and you wanted to venture out in the same field wouldn't you feel a little insecure and maybe not handle the pressure that well? Besides at the end of the day I really don't think these guys are that bad. Plus there are some pretty funny scenes – like them dancing keeps me laughing all week.

Plus each guy does bring his own personality to the table (which is different in all three guys).

Randy is pretty down to earth, educated and polite. I don't see a huge acting career in his future. You either have it or you don't and while I haven't really seen much of his work I don't think he has it. But he has passion. Which you can see in the way he handles some of the situations in his life, which every good producer, director needs. He just has to find a good project and go with it. I don't see him becoming the next tragic E! True Hollywood Story – I think at the end of the day he knows what matters most.

Dave a pure "nobody" in a sense is very hard working and dedicated to making a name for himself, when he could just tag along on the coat tails of his friends. He also seems to truly care for the guys – because you can tell when he is "acting" and when he is actually being there for the others. He does seem a little overbearing at times but I guess that's the business. He also tries to act like Ari Gold but doesn't everyone out there want to "hug it out" - so better to pick him as inspiration than say Joe Simpson – who is just creepy.

Sean- poor Sean. I think Sean is a jerk but I think he is broken and while he is rude, crude and needs a good slap in the face he really needs to learn to like himself and surround himself with positive people who like him for him. I also think he needs to hang out with people who don't drink and feel the need to go to clubs every night. I know he wants to be a "Rock Star" but he needs to make his health and mental state his number one priority. But he is a funny guy when he can control his temper. He just needs more real friends – ones that will tell him how it is. Because if he did, do you really think he'd act the way he does and still have people to call?

So viewing audience I would consider watching the show – it's good for a laugh and gives you the opportunity to see that the grass isn't always greener.

One last comment – these guys smoke WAY too much so please don't think it's a "cool" thing to do… It's gross

When I first watched this show, I had to continually remind myself that it was a reality series. I couldn't believe any three men would be so narcissistic, unlikeable and out of touch with real reality that they could think the public would embrace their reckless disregard for civility, manners, intelligent conversation and empathy. All three men seem scary-obnoxious, money-obsessed, celebrity addicted, puffed up on their own conceited notion that everyone cares about their seemingly wasted lives--frantically racing from one hot party to another, ordering piles of designer food they don't eat, throwing away hundreds of dollars in Vegas and grabbing women's breasts. Couldn't A&E dig up some other more worthy contender for a series other than a show about pathetic, poor little rich boys who can't make it out of Daddy's shadow, yet are content to live useless lives on papas multi-millions? Sean Stewart is so hideously repulsive you almost feel sorry for him. And Randy Spelling's lame whining about how broken up he is about his father's death as Randy flew off to Hawaii gagged and embarrassed me. Aaron Spelling and Rod Stewart must be thoroughly disappointed in their sons of Hollywood, yet both superstar men created their offspring--two twentyish gems of grotesque overindulged Hollyhorror.

There are 2 types of annoying. There is a dumb as a bag of bricks trust fund kid acting like a complete fool and then there is the same trust fund kid doing it while he knows he's on camera. I watched this show once and that was enough for this lifetime. Rod Steward must be such a proud parent watching his son (who was no doubt conceived in the green room of a concert hall after one of Rod's gigs in the early 80's) repeatedly whip out his penis in front of woman and generally act like he was raised in a trailer park. Sons of Hollywood looks like the third installment of the Dumb and Dumber Trilogy. Stay tuned for the E True Hollywood Story on this fool. His singing career will go nowhere and then what will this no talent do? It is not a matter of if this kid will flame out but when.

This trend of shallow reality TV needs to end. Soon. No one is laughing anymore at narcissism, drugs, and how cool it all is.

Vapid culture such as this doesn't need to be televised. All we have to do is visit a club ourselves if we are indeed so bored. Why do people such as Randy Spelling think that we want to see him discussing his fathers funeral on television?. Very poor taste. I won't even mention Tori. Or their mom.

Or Rod Stewarts son, whose name escapes me at the moment. If the audience needs a laugh give us a comedy. A movie like "Sol Goode" with Balthazar Getty. Don't delude yourselves that your lives are interesting to American audiences. This just isn't so.

If they can't act, then they should just stay at home and spend their trust funds. Audiences want movies, not Real TV trash that no one cares about. Awful.
