Born in Pennsylvania to a family with two grandfathers who fought in World War II, Mike Vogel now plays Army veteran Dale "Barbie" Barbara in CBS' Monday limited series "Under the Dome," based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.
Barbie is on a mission and has plenty of secrets and angst, but Vogel is a happily married father of three daughters. He also doesn't think much of actors opining on world issues.
"I grew up a plumber's son in Philadelphia," he tells Zap2it. "No one stuck a microphone in my dad's face, saying, 'What's your view on gun control?' But why would they care what I think? On paper, actors are the dumbest group of individuals essentially out there.
"Most of us have not gone to college. However, we never stop learning. Because of what we do, we're constantly researching, constantly learning. However, my opinion...

We're finally going to get a movie based on the legendary Winchester Mystery House! I've been wondering when we would get to see an awesome movie based on this creepy old mansion. Hammer has announced that they've optioned the rights to develop a feature length horror film based on what's considered to be the “world’s most haunted house.”
It's fun to explore the realm of the supernatural world, and I took a trip up to the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA a few years back to check it out for myself, and I really had a great time. It's such an incredibly creepy house with an intensely awesome and interesting history. I had an absolute blast taking the tour.

It has been a confusing day on the "Captain America" casting front with one of the previously rumoured contenders moving to the forefront and then later being shot down.
In the morning Fox 411 apparently confirmed an old Cinematical scoop that it is "very likely" that "The Office" star John Krasinski will be the new Steve Rogers as "he is a favorite among the key decision makers and has been asked to come back for more this week". Krasinski has already read for the role four times and screen tested twice with the multiple actresses up for the female leads to ensure chemistry.
Hold on though, now Deadline New York and later Heat Vision both reports that Marvel Studios has expanded its search while at the same time cutting down on the original candidates list which apparently does not include Krasinski in the new short list. The names that are still...

Corey Feldman is still keeping mum about plot details for The Lost Boys 3: The Bite , a follow-up to Joel Schumacher's The Lost Boys and last year's direct-to-dvd sequel Lost Boys: The Tribe , but we did get him to bleed out a bit more info about the film this afternoon. During our Splatter interview, the online series he stars in, Feldman revealed he leaves for South Africa next week to begin shooting. "This is going to be a good one," the actor said, "very big budget compared to the last one and the director's great." At the helm this time? Dario Piana who directed The Deaths of Ian Stone . "He does some really good stuff with CGI. There are a lot more effects on this one. A lot more fighting, stunts and wire work. And it's the return...

Many people may not even be aware that there was a Lost Boys sequel, but last year saw the release of Lost Boys: The Tribe. The title became a straight-to-dvd sensation, making back its $5 million dollar budget in just three weeks of DVD sales. The Tribe saw the return of Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog, a vampire hunter with an attitude, as well as Angus Sutherland filling in for his brother Kiefer. Corey Haim returned as well, but only for one scene at the end of the movie, while the other Frog brother, Jamison Newlander, only appeared in an alternate ending found on the DVD. Feldman told ShockTillYouDrop that the Frog Brothers will reunite for the third installment, titled Lost Boys: The Thirst.
We can't give away that much information right now. All I can tell you is this is officially the return of the Frog Brothers. We've gone through many stories.

Dario Piana, who helmed "The Deaths of Ian Stone", is gearing up to direct the third film in the popular vampire saga titled "The Lost Boys 3: The Thirst". Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander will be reprising their roles as Edgar and Alan Frog, world-class vampire hunters and surfboard shapers. Apparently taking a hint from all of the "Lost Boys: The Tribe" negative buzz, Piana will this time focus the film solely on the plight of the hugely popular Frog Brothers. Bloody-Disgusting has news on the plot and shooting date for the third movie, set to be called “Lost Boys 3: The Thirst”. “When veteran vampire hunter Edgar Frog finds himself destitute and almost friendless, he thinks his live has hit bottom – but wealthy vampire-romance novelist Gwen Liebling offers him a small fortune to go on the vampire hunt of a lifetime and rescue her son Peter from the Alpha Vampire D.J.Dusk. With the help of his friends Zoe, Lars and Blake, Edgar heads into a bloody battle to exterminate evil.” Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander will return as the fearsome vampire hunters, while Dario Piana (”The Deaths of Ian Stone”) will direct from a script by Evan Charnov.

Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Warner Premiere has hired “The Deaths of Ian Stone” director Dario Piana to helm “Lost Boys 3: The Thirst”, written by Evan Charnov. Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander are expected to return as the Frog Brothers but Bd is only able to confirm Feldman’s involvement. I could also confirm Feldman’s involvement I simply because I can’t imagine Feldman saying “No,” to another “Lost Boys” sequel.
The plot would follow a destitute and friendless Edgar Frog (Feldman) until wealthy vampire-romance writer Gwen Liebling offers him a shitload of cash to hunt down Alpha Vampire D.J. Dusk in order to rescue her son Peter. I hope Edgar doesn’t kill D.J. Dusk because that guy knows how to scratch some records (is that the right slang? “Scratch some records?”). This morning we have two interesting updates from Production Weekly. According to their Twitter feed, Lost Boys 3: The Thirst begins shooting Nov. 9th in Capetown South Africa with Dario Piana set to direct the scheduled 5 week shoot. Quick and easy, get 'em in and get 'em out I guess. Piana directed the 2008 Horrorfest title, The Deaths of Ian Stone. Next up is a bit of an odd one. On top of the as yet unconfirmed rumors that Philip Seymour Hoffman has joined the cast, Production Weekly is also reporting that filming begins the first week of Nov in New Mexico on the remake of Tomas Alfredson's Let the Right One In, but that's not even the odd bit of news. Cashing in on all the Twilight hype is Warner Brothers' second sequel Lost Boys 3: The Thirst. Warner Premiere is moving forward on Lost Boys 3: The Bite (although we suspect they'll drop the number 3). According to Production Weekly, Evan Charnov scripted the threequel. He penned Fearless , a TV vehicle for Rachel Leigh Cook in 2004. In the director's chair is Dario Piana who helmed the After Dark Horrorfest 2 entry The Deaths of Ian Stone (pictured) - a film that demonstrated promise but was bogged down by script problems. While Pw doesn't offer any plot details, it does reiterate what we've heard in the past: Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander are back to reprise their roles as the Frog Brothers. Both appeared in the 2008 direct-to-dvd misfire Lost Boys: The Tribe . Filming will take place in Capetown, South Africa.

Recall the stinker that was The Lost Boys: The Tribe (review here)? You remember -- the flick with the surfing vampires? (Again we ask: Why didn't the priest just bless the ocean?) No? You missed it? Do yourself a favor and keep it that way. Like it or not, Production Weekly has announced tonight that the next film in the franchise, now called Lost Boys 3: The Thirst, is just about ready to get under way from Warner Premiere.
All that's known about the film, which has been scripted by Evan Charnov, is that both Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander are returning to their roles as The Frog Brothers. Being that Newlander is now a vamp and Feldman is still a hunter, this could make for an interesting dynamic between the two. Interesting, yes, but will it be good?
Update: Bloody-Disgusting has learned that the director will be Dario Piana...

The Deaths Of Ian Stone (part of 2007’s After Dark Horrorfest II) begins unpromisingly, joining its title character (played by Mike Vogel) in the midst of a hockey game, with pounding music and lots of fast cuts that seem to earmark this as just another flashy, trendy youth film. A little later, after Ian has suffered the first of his many demises, he spots a sinister character whose head vibrates in that Jacob’S Ladder manner which suggests the movie will end with a familiar, predictable twist. Rest assured: It doesn’t, and it’s a little more thoughtful than that flashy opener would indicate as well. Stan Winston’s latest venture as a producer doesn’t fully satisfy in the end, but it’s a diverting enough alternative to the torture and slasher flicks currently flowing out of the off-Hollywood horror scene.

The nominees for the 35th Annual Saturn Awards were announced today, and fright features went largely unrepresented among the multiple noms for the likes of The Dark Knight, Iron Man, et al. Among horror/creature features, only Hellboy II: The Golden Army and Let The Right One In scored multiple nods, taking three each.
Guillermo del Toro’s sequel is up for Best Horror Film as well as Best Make-Up (Mike Elizalde) and Best Special Effects (Michael J. Wassel, Adrian De Wet, Andrew Chapman and Eamonn Butler). The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and Whatever Films We Feel Like Nominating have Let The Right One In competing for Best “International” Film—quotation marks ours, as aside from Slumdog Millionaire (?), the other movies in this category are the English-language, partially or fully U.S.-financed likes of The Bank Job, The Forbidden Kingdom, In Bruges and Transsiberian. After Dark Films came back with a vengeance with this years HorrorFest. They gave us 8 (More) Films To Die For.Now those 8 films have come home to terrorize courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment To me, the films this year where a lot better. Especially, The Deaths Of Ian Stone, the story of young Ian Stone that encounters a mysterious creature and is forced into the path of an oncoming train. Rather than facing certain death, Ian finds himself reborn into a new life that feels strangely familiar. After his second death, it becomes apparent that Ian is being hunted by an evil presence, and will be forced to die every day until he can solve the mystery of his own life. I believe this film would have stood alone by itself in a theatrical release.
Next, on my list is Mulberry St., which was a very different twist on the...

After Dark adds 'Crazy', 'Dead' to Horrorfest
NEW YORK -- After Dark Films completed its demented Horrorfest lineup by acquiring all North American rights to the supernatural thriller Crazy Eights and the psycho killer flick Lake Dead.
James K. Jones' Crazy Eights, starring Frank Whaley and Traci Lords, follows six friends who reunite after two decades at a childhood friend's funeral. They dig up a time capsule and discover the remains of a child from their past. Jones, Dan DeLuca, John Kaila and Patrick Moses produced the project, which also stars Dina Meyer, Gabrielle Anwar, George Newbern and DeLuca.
George Bessudo's Dead follows three sisters who journey to their late grandfather's cabin in hopes of getting his inheritance. Unfortunately, a band of butchers has decided to sublet the place before they arrive. Edwin Craig, Pat McNeely and James C. Burns star in the film, which was produced by Todd Chamberlain, Hector Echavarria, Jason Hice and Mike Karkeh.
The Horrorfest "8 Films to Die For" lineup is rounded out by Borderland, The Deaths of Ian Stone, Mulberry Street, Nightmare Man, Tooth and Nail and Unearthed. The features hit more than 300 screens nationwide from Nov.
