Fans of Death Note who weren't fond of Netflix's live-action movie may have reason to believe the sequel will be more in line with what they were hoping for. Writer Greg Russo has taken the reigns for Death Note 2, which is currently being developed by the streaming service. And the filmmaker has promised that he is aiming to make the follow-up faithful to the source material.
Greg Russo is currently promoting the new Mortal Kombat movie, which arrives in theaters and on HBO Max this week. During a recent interview, he was asked about Death Note 2, which he has been working on for several years. While he couldn't say too much, in terms of specifics, Russo expressed a fondness for the manga and his desire to bring that to life. Here's what he had to say about it.

While it divided opinion on release, I personally found Netflix’s live-action Death Note to be a flawed but enjoyable movie. A sequel has been on the cards for the last few years, but there hasn’t much in the way of news on the project recently. However, it does seem that things are moving ahead, and that includes additions to the cast.
According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us a new Scream movie is in development and Extraction is getting a sequel – Emma Roberts of American Horror Story is being eyed to play Death Note 2‘s villain. Although we don’t know much more than that right now, including the character that Roberts might play, this latest update on Death Note 2‘s development at least shows that Netflix still want to make the sequel happen.
Of course, it’s fair to say...

When we asked our staff to vote on the best comic book movie adaptations, we were afraid the results would consist only of superhero films. While there are many superhero movies listed below, it is great to see a bulk of non-Hollywood films appearing on the list as well. We set out to compile a list of 50 movies but as it were, we ended up with 5 ties, and so the list consists 55 films instead. Let us know if you think we missed something. Enjoy!

Spielberg’s first venture into animation is one of his best. Taking notes from the classic Raiders of the Lost Ark playbook, Spielberg crafted another spirited, thrilling, and always entertaining adventure. The Adventures of Tintin is one of the most pleasurable, family-friendly experiences, that boils down to one grand treasure hunt. There’s much to admire on-screen, but it is the spectacular...
