Decent Film

I think this film is more of a decent drama of the year 2006. It had some very brilliant performances from the stars like Hrishitaa Bhatt (Who according to me acted very well for the first time).

The only thing that made me sat and watch the whole film was Direction and Story Telling which was pacey.

The serious Hidden Personality/Celebrity attack in the film was hilarious!! Something special to look for!!

The camera work was really boring! I think that this cameraman is a First Time cameraman who does not know the Angels. The editing was really sharp and moving. The music again was a let down.

The actors were Mind Blowing again. The story has the power to keep you a hold of the film. The direction was simple and very decent. Scenes look was again in a decent way handled and did not look vulgar at all. A good film to look for.

Brilliant Performances

One thing that i liked most about this movie was some very brilliant performances by the players. The film somewhere lacked glossiness that all Indian Films required. The camera work must be totally ignored. The editing was good. However i think that the first half must have been trimmed a little. Too much of explanations did not required.

The second half was good enough and racy. The story telling and direction was simple and good enough. According to me the performance of all the actors especially Hrishitaa Bhatt was daring! The actor who performed Jigyaasa's Mother was simply superb. This film also reminds you of GIA somewhere. But here we get to see the life of a Super Star and in GIA we saw the life of a Super Model. This film also have shades of late actress Jean Seberg. But it is clearly not mentioned i suppose.

A good film with some Brilliant Performances!

Beautiful

The best part that i liked about this movie was when Jigyaasa was an innocent girl and went to people to ask for work. They exploit her. Than later when Jigyaasa is a super-star, She exploits them. They say revenge is a dish best served cold. This is what follows the film.

The story-telling and the style and grammar of cinema used in this film makes you think of any Roman Polanski movie. The flash-back part is handled very well. The performances especially of the lead protagonist Hrishitaa Bhatt is of first rate. Her character in the movie transforms and travels through the time period. The climax however does full justice to the film, But you start to feel that it's not convincing to the character Jigyaasa.

The film maker Faisal Saif has tried to portray the reality behind bollywood (Indian Film World). And has succeeded in making a film that makes you face to face on behind the scenes journey of a super-star. This film takes names of lots of known personality (secretly) in bollywood. Every scene shows the amount of hard work had gone into it. The film maker has tried to touch every possible topic and issue that we usually hear of on T.V or in any gossip magazine.

A film that is not to be missed at any cost!

Excellent

Jigyaasa (Indian-Hindi-Subtitled) is a story of an innocent girl and her journey from nowhere to super stardom in film industry of bollywood. According to me this is one of the best film i've ever seen on the life of an actress. Hrishita Bhatt has performed very well. Her character transformation from an innocent girl to a devilish diva has been captured and explained very well. The best part of the movie was the flashback narrations. The three different characters in the movie shows three different flashback of the actress and that is what keeps you tight. The film's duration is of 140 minutes and believe me not a single minute makes a bore view. The camera work is very good. The editing was tight and crispy despite of a drama genre. The direction and story-telling reminds you of a Quentin Tarantino cinema. For the first time on Indian cinema, Scenes of Sadism & S&M have been incorporated. These scenes are decently pictured and do not look vulgar or cheap. Finally a good film to look for!!!

Indian Jean Seberg Version

Being a Journalist myself from Afghanistan i can very easily relate to the Character Jigyaasa Mathur. After reading so many reviews i purchased this movie from amazon.com and i was really very thrilled by what i saw on my screen.

The film talks about the journey of a Super Star. The story is very well told. The lead actress Hrishita Bhatt performs very well and from her heart. Especially when she becomes manipulating and dominating devilish diva. It makes you believe that how a cruel world can make a Innocent Girl's life so miserable that she becomes so cruel. The camera work of the film is however to be ignored. But it is the film that keeps you Tight and Going.

The film according to me is somewhere related and inspired from the life of Late Actress Jean Seberg. Her lifestyle, Her way of treating men and especially her mysterious death. I saw that everything in this movie Jigyaasa. I have read and researched a lot about Jean Seberg and i found that out in this movie. The only hitch was that Jigyaasa was an Indian film with an Indian Language. But still!! Daring and Gutsy at the same time.

However i will not agree with other viewers comments about this film reminding of GIA. Because this film is the life of an Actress. But yes! It does reminds a lot of Late Jean Seberg!!!

I am Speechless.....!

Franky speaking, I am really not the one who writes Good or Bad about a movie after watching it. But here's an Indian Feature Film that really forced me to do this.

Just finished watching this film on DVD. I am very sure that i really have no words to explain how good this film was. The performance of the Lead Protagnist made me believe that this role would have been impossible without her. I am myself an Actress here who dreams to make it big someday! I think this was the main important reason why i got so attached to this film. I am not only talking about US, There are Casting Couch every where else too. But this film not only portrays a reality about the Casting Couch, But also shows the other bad politics played in the Film World too.

As i have earlier said that this is my first ever writing review of a film. Trust me guys this is the film that is making me write this review. I would like to congratulate all the actors and technicians who have made such a beautiful film. I think our film market needs more such kinds of cinema. According to me, A film is a medium that entertains and provokes us with a message at the same time. I really don't know about the others who have watched this film and commented here. But i think that this film not only shows sex but also gives a strong message that cannot be ignored! The story of the film is just UN-forgettable to me as of now. As the other commenter's here have said, The camera work of the film is totally to be ignored. The performance is the plus point of this film. It takes a lot to get such kinds of performance in a film that is dark and hard hitting at the same time. The Lead Protagnist steals the show and the film belongs to her in all era. Music does not have anything to do in this film. Such kinds of films in my opinion should not have songs but just a Fantastic Background Score. But overall a good film with brilliant performance is what i am going to say.

I will especially would like to recommend this film to all the up and coming wannabe actresses who dreams to make it big one day...

Raw And Emotional

There are films that you see and they leave a mark on you. Jigyaasa is one such films according to me. The film starts with an actress talking to you about her dreams and wishes and suddenly you see the actress is dead. She has committed suicide. Why?? This follows the story of the film.

The Film Maker Faisal Saif is not scared at all by revealing the climax in the opening scene of the movie. Because he thinks that after revealing the climax, He is sure enough to keep you tight to watch this whole film. And he is successful in doing that. Despite of the opening scene, You are curious enough to watch the whole story of Jigyaasa.

According to me this is one of the best Indian films i have ever came across. The Film Maker shows that there's lot more than songs and dances in an Indian film. The film is Bold, Raw, Sensitive, Emotional and Controversial at the same time.

The Controversial Babe.....

I was the first to see this film in a trial show before it's official release worldwide. I would like to be very frank that the film was very nicely made and handled by the director Faisal Saif. Bieng a critic myself i think that these kind of movies are rarely made. Brilliant performances by the actors especially Hrishitaa Bhatt & Mukesh Tiwari.

This year the film makers thought to give the audiences something else by giving them unusual films like Page 3, Ankahee & Jigyaasa. But i think from all three of these films, I enjoyed Jigyaasa a lot. Jigyaasa was more and more spicy and controversial tale told in a very bold and dared manner.

Somewhere the film makes you sit and think for a while that is this the life of an actress? And there is the victory of a film maker. Where he makes you laugh, cry, think through his films.

Kudos to the film maker for bringing this controversial babe live....

Emotionally Gripping

I think i personally liked this film very much. However i watch Indian Films very less. But Jigyaasa has become one of my favorites.

This film can be easily compared with Angelina Jolie starrer Gia. The emotions and scenes and especially the performances reminded me of Gia. The story telling was very good. And so was the Direction of the film by Faisal Saif. The camera work was not up to the mark but rest of the things were good.

The best part that i personally liked about the movie was it's True To Life narration. The way it has been filmed, Keeps you gripping and edge of the seat despite of a Drama Genre.

A very brilliant effort by everyone involved in this film!

Treat To Watch

Though this film was publicize and praised too much, I saw this film on DVD. I must admit that i really liked what i saw. Basically rest of the Indian films has lots of songs in it. This film too had songs but very less. I think according to the story.

The film making and performances were very good. The costumes were good. I basically expected this film to be a Family Melo Drama. But it was not. This film was based on the life story of a film actress who goes through her journey in her own way. I will recommend Jigyaasa to everybody who loves surprises! There is also an element of hard perversive talks in the film. But it was circulated in a decent manner.

The film belongs to a hard hitting era and genre. The film Maker Faisal Saif has tried to be as realistic as he can in his story telling.

An interesting film to look for.

A Controversial Effort

Jigyaasa follows the story of a young girl attracted to Film Industry. And ready to compromise anything and everything to become an actress. This film shows her journey through the eyes of an Documentary Film Maker. The film has been made in a very decent way.

But here i think the film maker has taken Extra Liberty to portray the controversies behind Film World. The narration actually keeps you tight and to the edge. The first half of the film goes a little slow and pretty narrative. But the second half is just too good and rocks. The first half is slow because it was needed to be explained. And still the first half is enjoyable. It portrays the family value and struggle of Jigyaasa. The second half shows the real Film Politics played by Star Actors and dirty games played sometimes by film people.

The camera work needed to be ignored. The story and direction is good. Performancewise i'll give Hrishitaa Bhatt full marks as an actress. The Director Faisal Saif has done a good job. The DVD Sound of Dolby 5.1 just SUCKS. I really have no idea that the DVD creator of such a nice film just cannot provide good 5.1 Dolby sound to their products, And these nice films are wasted.

I also personally think that the Film Maker has tried to bring all the gossipping controversies so well on the screen, That they actually entertain you in every possible way.

Awesome!!

I think this film touches heart in every way. Personally me being an actress never thought that somebody in India will make a real film on the life of a super-star. But Faisal Saif did. Jigyaasa takes you through an emotional journey of a young girl's dream.

Hrishitaa Bhatt according to me has performed very well. She has done full justice to her character. The music of the film moves with the story. The camera work is brilliant. Faisal Saif's direction and story-telling is very good. The way he has handled this cinema is just awesome! I wish there are more films with woman playing the main protagonist. But our film makers always want to make films with male dominating scripts.

Two big Thumbs Up to Faisal Saif!!

Powerful

Jigyaasa (Indian-English Subtitled) is a story of an innocent girl who wants to become a film actress at any cost. The film takes a dark and realistic journey from the eyes of a film actress and a documentary film maker to the world of Indian Film Industry.

The narration of the film is very beautiful and so is the direction of the film. The actors in this film acts very natural. Despite of a 'Drama' genre the film maintains it's speed and gives shocking twists and turns that keeps you tight to the edge. The film does goes materialistic in terms of bold scenes and provocative and perverse language, But i guess that demands the script.

It is said that the film was written three times in a final draft. Every scene portrays the hard work gone into it.

A film that is very perfectly executed, Very well pictured and acted.

Winner All The Way

Jigyaasa (Indian-Hindi-English Subtitles) is one of the best films i've ever came across. The film starts with the end of this super star. There's a TV Reporter who is interviewing all the Co-Actors who've worked with Jigyaasa. The TV reporter then wants to make a documentary on her life and through her eyes we see the rest of the film.

The camera work of the film is very good and goes according to the moods of the scenes. The performances of the actors especially Hrishita Bhatt is very good. Full marks to the director Faisal Saif for treating this film in a very bold as well as sensitive manner. The film tries to show every possible dark issues of film making and the actors and their dirty politics. And the film maker succeeds in his mission.

What i will advice the viewer is to get this film and watch it. As this film has No-Nonsense cinema and only and only provokes and entertains!

Hrishitaa Bhatt is excellent

I have seen Hrishitaa Bhatt previously acting as a Girl Next Dorr kind of image in her every film. But this film was different. I heard this every where that people called it a Bad Film in India and blah! and blah! I saw this film the other day when our cable guy was screening this film.

Actually all that i heard Bad Reviews about this film were baseless. The producers may have brought this film as a Sex Drama but it turned out to be a message filled film. The camera work of the film was somehow bad and the music too. But over all it was a decent film to see. According to me, This could be Hrishitaa Bhatt's most genuine and best performance till date. She was good in "Haasil" but as i said, A girl next door kind of role again. But in this film she totally plays Mallika Sherawat.

I would recommend this movie to every thought provoking cinema lover.

Very Good Effort

Jigyaasa according to me is an eye-opener for every women. I really congratulate the film makers for making such a wonderful film. The performances are of First Rate and the story-telling and direction of the movie is simply superb! The film shows the struggle of an innocent girl's dreams and aspiration. And how she get's exploited and insulted in a male dominated society. But things become different when that same innocent girl takes system into her own hands.

I personally think that every women must see this film as this film gives a lesson. Faisal Saif will go places. Hats off to Hrishitaa Bhatt for giving such a mind-blowing performance.

Two Thumbs Up

Jigyaasa is released today here in theaters. I am a BIG fan of Indian Cinema. Especially of those filled with songs and dance. Though this film Jigyaasa did not have any of it. Still i want to congratulate the Film Maker Faisal Saif for making this bold and controversial film in a convincing way.

I was really moved by the performance of the lead actress Hrishitaa Bhatt. She was just great as from Innocent College Girl to a Vampish Super Star. The story moves in a very thoughtful and provocative manner and then ends up with a sad note.

I don't agree with other comments here because i strongly feel that the climax was Justified well. The climax was really good and acceptable. Full marks to the Director Faisal Saif for pulling off the reality behind BOLLYWOOD (Indian Film Industry). And making such a RAW and ORIGINAL film.

Watchable

Somehow i think this film is watchable once or twice. I somewhere left un satisfied after i saw this film.

First i think this film was publicized in a big way. But it lacked it's content somewhere. The film showed and portrayed the life of an actress. But the death of the actress in the end was not at all digestible to me. As the film proceeded i went involving with Jigyaasa the character. But i cannot end my life for a small reason! The camera work was okay. The story telling was fantastic. The lead actress performed her part very well. But this is not definitely a film that deserve SO MUCH praise! This was a decent and a watchable film but so much PRAISE???!!!??? I am sorry that doesn't worth! A good film and that is it.

Good Debut

Jigyaasa (Indian-Subtitled) is a story of an innocent girl from a poor family who wants to become an actress. The Indian family with values. Jigyaasa will do anything to become an actress.

This feature film shows the journey of an actress from nowhere to stardom. Personally speaking i really liked the film. But there were some questions yet to be answered in this film. First and foremost you're not ready to digest Jigyaasa's end. For the debut Faisal Saif has done a fair job. The performances too were fine.

But Faisal Saif will need to grow more as a Director. In anyways Jigyaasa is a good debut for a Director.
