She's kind of blink and you'll miss her as "Constance" the 'Lina Lamont' silent star archetype in The Artist. But she's been everywhere at the events. That's oddly appropriate given that she always seems to be blink and you'll miss her in movies but she makes the best of it. Often when I see her in that big ball of joy that is the cast and crew of The Artist (winning makes the joy part a lot easier) I think back to my favorite moment in her filmography to date.

The casting for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers seems to keep growing and growing. We’ve already heard that Cobie Smulders has joined the cast (here), and there’s rumor that Yvonne Strahovski has been cast as Ms. Marvel (here). Now, a Marvel Studios seems to have issued a press release (via Movie Web) that reveals Kevin Pennington (Spring Breakdown) as Shield agent Wendell Vaughn Aka Quasar. Vaughn starts out a normal Shield agent, but gained superpowers after coming into contact with Quantum Bands.

The casting seems to have been announced with the studio giving an invite to meet the cast on set when they shoot in New York soon. Nothing has been made official, but word the event will be held in the Spring.

The Avengers is scheduled for a release in May of 2012.

I would like to preface this by telling you I have not yet seen Going the Distance. I've heard opinions ranging from "it's complete dog shit" to "it's really good." So I feel comfortable in my expectation level of "cautiously hopeful."

This hopeful feeling is not limited to the film itself. If Going the Distance truly blows, then so be it, it's just another lame rom-com. But if it's good, then maybe it could mean less lame rom-coms.

I'm going to come out to all of you right now. I am a lover of the good romantic comedy, sometimes fairly and sometimes unfairly deigned as "chick flick." Looks like Amy Poehler’s baby-on-the-way will have a friend from the start: her former Saturday Night Live costar and pal, Rachel Dratch, is expecting her first child, People has confirmed.

The actress, 44, is due in September but no other details — including the baby’s father — are available.

Spring Breakdown is a buddy comedy starring Amy Poehler, Parker Posey and Rachel Dratch about three best friends who get a chance to re-live their college dream of  being "cool". Since there aren't many roles where female leads get to be geeky, goofy and needlessly silly in a Judd Apatow kind of way this movie works. Or at least, fills a need. If you go in with the expectation of getting some laughs, you'll be pleased. But I genuinely enjoyed this film. Poehler and her gang have nice comedic timing and the story includes Jane Lynch (Glee) as a gun-toting Republican senator.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Baby Boom and Alfie (2004) director Charles Shyer has signed on to direct a chick flick. Shyer will be behind the lens for the tale of two best friends (Bff, for the acronym-challenged, means best friends forever in girlspeak) who have reunited as adults, only to find one is a country mouse and one is a well-heeled city gal. The script was originally written by Vanessa Parise and Robin Dunne and is now being rewritten by Ellen Greenberg and Hallie Shyer, who is currently co-writing the screenplay for Eloise in Paris along with Charles Shyer, who will also direct. It's hard not to wonder why Greenberg and Shyer are rewriting an original script -- too many cooks in the kitchen, etc. -- but let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

As we all know, reuniting with old friends usually brings a host of problems with it -- especially old rivalries.

In an episode of "The Hills" season 5, Kristin Cavallari was seen sharing a girl-on-girl kiss with Stacie Hall. Recently, the 22-year-old claimed if she might choose, she would never do the lesbian lips-locking scene.

She told MTV News, "I think that sort of my I-wish-i-didn't moment was when I made out with Stacie in Vegas." Revealing why she didn't hope to film the scene, Kristin further explained, "That was one episode I had to call my dad and say, 'Dad, sorry - this is going to be your least favorite episode.' "

Chicago – Can anyone explain to me why there are lavish, bonus-laden, beautifully transferred versions of so-so musicals like “Gigi” and “South Pacific” on Blu-Ray but the beloved “My Fair Lady” languishes in standard definition? It’s completely illogical, a decision made even more frustrating by a grainy, flat picture and mediocre audio track. Eliza deserves an upgrade.

To be “fair” (slight pun intended), this multiple Oscar winner hasn’t exactly stood the test of time like I remembered. Many of the musical numbers still resonate like they did when I was a child (“On the Street Where You Live” is still one of my favorite movie musical songs of the era) but the film is undeniably bloated, running almost three hours long and dragging as often as it zips.

One of the movies we’re watching closely in these parts is “Paul,” the next off-the-wall comedy from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Two of the guys behind “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz.” By now, you probably know that "Paul" has a dream cast which includes Pegg, Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Bateman and Bill Hader. However, little has been divulged about the role played by comedy veteran Jane Lynch – a scene stealer in flicks like “Role Models,” “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and most any Christopher Guest mockumentary you can think of. Until now, that is.

“In ‘Paul,’ I am in one scene, but it’s a pretty cool one,” Lynch explained when we caught up with her recently. “I run this little restaurant called the ‘Ailey-Inn.’”

We just discovered that the comedian known as Luenell may be the next comedian to be tapped for her own reality show and star in another new film. You may remember her from touring on the Katt Williams comedy tour several years ago and in last year’s comedy filmBorat.

Well, we discovered that Luenell is also going to be in the new film titled All About Steve starring Sandra Bullock which opens in theatres everywhere on September 4th. If you remember, Luenell was also seen in Californication, VH1's I Love The New Millennium, Reality Bites Back, performing on Martin Lawrence 1st Amendment Standup, Chocolate News, Spring Breakdown and Head Case, just to name a select few.

No word yet on which network the reality show will be broadcast on but as soon as we find out we will let you know.

Every year during graduation week, the college I attended also hosted various reunion years. One time the 30-somethings of the 10-year reunion threw quite a memorable bash. In this same spirit Spring Breakdown follows Ashley (Amber Tamblyn) as she embarks on an outrageous spring break, only to be followed by her Senator mother’s appointed chaperones, Becky St. Germaine (Parker Posey), Gayle O'Brien (Amy Poehler) and Judi Joskow (Rachel Dratch).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Poehler has signed on to Universal's upcoming adaptation of Jarrett Krosoczka's "Lunch Lady" graphic novel series. On the heels of her successful theatrical turn in Minsky's, gay-favorite funny lady Rachel Dratch spoke with The Advocate this month about her role in this summer's My Life in Ruins, her made-for-gay film Spring Breakdown, and why she always seems to get cast as a lesbian.

Spring Breakdown, a film Dratch co-created with Amy Poehler, tells the story of three women (Dratch, Poehler and Parker Posey) who decide to leave their stale 30-year-old lives behind and live it up one good time on spring break. The project stalled out several times in the distribution phase, and after three years, finally made it to DVD.

The Advocate asked Dratch about Amy Poehler's comment that Spring Breakdown was "made for gays." Dratch responded:

Well, [out director/screen-writer] Ryan [Shiraki] always has the gay audience in mind. We set out to make the kind of broad comedy you always see featuring guys, but with women in the leads.

Chicago – When Tina Fey made the jump from “Saturday Night Live” to “30 Rock,” she was planning on taking her talented co-star and friend Rachel Dratch to the award-winning show. Before the season began, Dratch was replaced by Jane Krakowski and the rest is history. But there was a promising comedy with a great cast on Dratch’s resume that all of us thought would bring her back to the spotlight called “Spring Breakdown”. Now that comedy is being quietly released straight-to-dvd/Blu-Ray. There’s no justice in the comedy world.
