Maintains a good momentum!

It was a Good Friday, so one expected a boost in box office collections. However, the Kesari Chapter 2 storm arrived, capturing almost 1,000 screens. But Jaat maintained a good hold, earning 3.95 crores on day 9. It witnessed a drop of only around 7% compared to 4.27 crores earned on the previous day.

This is a good sign, hinting there will be some promising growth during the second weekend. Sunny Deol starrer is performing really well on the single screens and will hopefully continue its domination on Saturday and Sunday.

There is little to no competition at the box office. Salman Khan led Sikandar is almost close to the end of its theatrical run. Hence, Jaat has the opportunity to rise and shine until the arrival of Kesari Chapter 2 this Friday. On day 5, it made collections in the range of 7-8 crores.

Jaat witnessed a dip of 43-50% compared to 14.05 crores earned on the previous day. The need of the hour was to match the opening day collections of 9.62 crores.

Amitabh Bachchan starrer Zanjeer is a breakthrough film in the senior actor’s career. It was released in 1973 and is credited for launching Bachchan’s image as the “Angry Young Man” of Indian cinema, a persona that defined much of his career in the 1970s and ’80s. Javed once revealed that the Dharam Veer actor refused to take on the role for unknown reasons. Zanjeer is iconic for several reasons; for example, it marked the end of the romantic hero era and the rise of the action-oriented, morally conflicted protagonist.

Anil Sharma, as a film director, is popularly known for the Gadar films, which made a huge impact on the silver screen. He did direct a family-oriented film, Apne (2007) with his favorite set of actors, the Deols, and that was a fairly good movie as well for its time. The director is back with a Baghban-ish film that discusses the importance of parents and why they need extra care when they grow old. Mumbai, Sep 18: Remake is the latest fad in Bollywood, but filmmaker Anil Sharma, who is set to release his next - "Singh Saab The Great" - says he doesn't believe in remakes.

The director of films like "Gadar - Ek Prem Katha", "The Hero: Love Story of a Spy" and "Apne" has lots of original topics to work upon.

"I don't believe in remakes. I have my own subjects, then why should I remake any southern film. I am here to make my own films and not to copy other's films," Sharma said in a group interview.

"I want to show my creativity. I have around 200 stories in my mind and all are fresh stories," he added.

Mumbai, Aug 30: Filmmaker Anil Sharma feels that actor Sunny Deol brought the trend of good cinema to Bollywood.

The director-actor duo has worked together in movies like "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha", "The Hero: Love Story of a Spy" and "Apne".

Tracking Sunny's film journey, Anil said the actor is the harbinger of modern cinema in India and he, in fact, did it with his debut film 'Betaab' in 1983.

"I feel the cinema which is considered good cinema in India was started by Sunny's films. The kind of films like 'Arjun', 'Betaab' which he did in the starting of his career and the kind of directors with whom he worked, it.

Mumbai, July 28: Filmmaker Anil Sharma, who is very excited about his film "Singh Sahab The Great", says he is all set to release the teaser of the film by August.

Sharma said: "I am very excited about 'Singh Sahab The Great'. We are almost ready with the final edit and by August the first teaser of the film should be out."

"I am eagerly waiting to get the audience response for the film," he added.

Mumbai, March 17: Filmmaker Anil Sharma, who recently finished the first schedule of "Singh Saheb The Great" in Bhopal, will now start shooting for a song sequence here with the film's leading lady Urvashi Rautela.

The director of films like "Gadar - Ek Prem Katha" and "Apne", focuses on a common man's life in the movie.

"Second schedule for the film will begin from March 24th in Mumbai at the Filmistan Studio. It's a song sequence and we have put up a complete marriage set in the studio. It's a song and dance sequence, which will be shot on Urvashi," Sharma told Ians and added that his movie will also have an item song.

Post the success of Yamla Pagla Deewana in 2011, the Deols (Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby) will next be seen in the sequel to Yamla Pagla Deewana directed by Sangeeth Sivan. However, seeing the success the trio had at the B.O., Subhash Ghai has signed them on for his next production.

In fact on the 34th anniversary of Mukta Arts, Ghai announced two new films namely, Ishq De Maare and Apna Sapna Money Money 2. While the latter will be a sequel to the comic caper which released in 2006, Ishq De Maare, shooting of which is scheduled to start by April or May next year, will feature the three Deols.

Ishq De Maare will be written by Neeraj Pathak who earlier wrote Apne. Though Ghai will be producing the film, the director hasn't been announced yet. Meanwhile Ghai is busy making a comeback to direction after a gap of four years with his new film Kaanchi.

The film-maker has signed the writer of Gadar, Shaktimaan, to pen the screenplay of Singh Sahab The Great. "It took me two years to lock this amazing script. In fact, I wish to state that it will be a landmark film in my career, like Hukumat and Gadar were," Sharma beams confidently.
