While audiences await the long-awaited live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman graphic novels series, Audible has now released a new trailer for the audio adaptation, giving audiences their first snippet of James McAvoy in the starring role.
Though McAvoy's is the only voice featured in the trailer, an all-star cast has been amassed for Audible's adaptation of the classic DC/Vertigo comic book. The X-Men: First Class and Split star James McAvoy takes on the lead role of Morpheus the Lord of Dreams, a god-like entity accidentally summoned from his slumber by an occultist trying to bring forth Morpheus's sibling Death. His sister, Death, will be played by Thor: The Dark World and Big Mouth star Kat Dennings. The rest of the cast includes Gaiman's Good Omens star Michael Sheen as the devilishly popular DC character Lucifer and Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton as the paranormal investigator John Constantine,...

Back in February, DC Comics and Idw announced Locke & Key: Hell and Gone, a crossover publishing event bringing together the worlds of the former’s classic Sandman comics and the latter’s award-winning Locke & Key series. The Locke & Key comics team, writer Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez, were slated to do the same for the new book, which was initially set to premiere this October.
“For years, we’ve been talking about doing a Locke & Key/Sandman crossover, and we’re finally doing it,” says Hill on Friday (June 19) when we catch up with him about the new season of NOS4A2. “That’s actually finally happening.”
The news might have gotten a little lost in the ensuing eruption of the Covid-19 pandemic, which for a while completely shut down the comics industry just like so many others. Likewise, further news came in April from Hill, who...

Though fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Neil Gaiman's The Sandman brought to life in live-action, an all-star cast has been amassed for Audible's adaptation of the classic DC/Vertigo comic book.
The incredibly impressive cast is truly the stuff of dreams, and will be lead by X-Men: First Class and It Chapter Two star James McAvoy in the lead role of Morpheus the Lord of Dreams, a god-like entity accidentally summoned from his slumber by an occultist trying to bring forth Morpheus's sibling Death. He’s directing the Doctor Strange sequel – but will the Raimi we get be the indie-horror enfant terrible we want or the Spider-Man 3 dud we don’t?
Thirteen years ago, as Sam Raimi wrapped production on Spider-Man 3, few would have imagined that it would not be until 2020 that the director of The Evil Dead stepped behind the cameras on another superhero movie. But that is exactly where Raimi finds himself after confirming his involvement this week in the Marvel sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. What’s even more remarkable is that this will only be the film-maker’s third new movie since the ill-fated Spidey threequel that saw Tobey Maguire’s run as the masked wall-crawler come to an unceremonious halt.
Spider-Man 3, as has been well-documented, was a giant egg of a movie, a film reportedly ruined by Sony’s insistence on incorporating the...

Are horror comic adaptations the Next Big Thing? In the wake of The Walking Dead's success, it certainly seems so; what with Locke and Key, Cowboys & Aliens, Sandman, and Preacher all set to hit screens large and small in the months ahead. Now we can add another title to the list -- Idw's Zombies Vs. Robots. Love 'em or hate 'em, Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company (which still has a remake of Monster Squad in the pipeline) are the folks in charge. But take heart in the fact that the thinking-man's horror hound, J.T. Petty (The Burrowers) is handling the adapting chores. More after the jump. Deadline reports that Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood's fan-favorite...

(This film was sent to Bad Lit as a screener copy from the 2010 Spooky Movie Film Festival, which runs Oct. 21-25.)
Why do we watch? Horror movies, that is. It’s a question I think about from time to time as it’s unofficially my favorite genre of film. Scary. Gross. Spooky. Stupid. There are several types of horror movies and I enjoy all of them. Yep, even the stupid ones are somehow comforting to watch.
Horror filmmaker J.T. Petty has asked himself the same question and he goes in search of an answer in his documentary S&Man. There are some questionable and potentially controversial aspects to Petty’s investigations that I’m going to write about openly even though they might be considered spoilers.
If you haven’t seen the film and are interested in watching it, I recommend doing so without knowing too much ahead of time.
