All The Reasons Why Liam and Hope Shouldn’t Get Back Together On Bold and the Beautiful
Image
The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers for Thursday, May 15, suggest that Hope wants another chance with Liam. She already feels guilty about their marriage falling apart, and his grim news has her thinking everything differently. But the last thing these two need is to get back together.

Undivided Heart

Hope’s (Annika Noelle) heart and mind have been all over the place lately. We have no idea who she’s going to end up with next. Though she was married to Liam (Scott Clifton), she longed to be in bed with Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). She couldn’t resist him, and the two kissed in Rome.

Hope loved the attention that Thomas gave her. Finally, there was a man without an undivided heart. She was sick of Liam playing Ping-Pong with her and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). She wanted a man who loved her, desired her, and wanted to be with her only.

Chevy Chase’s Typical Day Involves Dressing Like A Pig
Image
“Just another day” of wearing a hog head around the office for Chevy Chase.

“Some people ask me, what’s my day like?” Chase reveals in the latest installment of his sporadic, bizarre Instagram reels. The answer is even less exciting than you might think. To the tune of Thurston Harris’ “Little Bitty Pretty One,” Chase walks us through a typical day in his post-comedy career.

“Watch this,” he says as he signs Funko Pop boxes featuring himself in a Santa suit from Christmas Vacation. Those babies are going for $250 on Amazon, of which we can assume he receives a hefty cut. You can’t get one on his official website, but he’s offering signed Vacation trading cards for only $120.

https://www.instagram.com/chevychase/

“I also do ping-pong,” he says, now inexplicably wearing a pig mask.

Well, it’s sort of explicable — it...

Ping Pong the Animation Was the Perfect Combination of Manga Creator and Director
Image
When a Ping Pong anime series was first announced in early 2014, I had to ask: Why? Taiyo Matsumoto’s manga had already been adapted to film back in 2002. Directed by first-timer Fumihiko Sori with a script by rising star Kankuro Kudo, the film launched the career of actor Shido Nakamura. It even came with songs by Supercar and Boom Boom Satellites. I couldn’t imagine anything better than that. When I learned Masaaki Yuasa was directing the series, I became even more curious – and confused. Yuasa was one of my all-time favorite anime directors (and still is.) His 2007 science fiction series Kaiba changed my vision of what TV anime could be. He would have been a great fit to adapt Yuasa’s epic No. 5 . Instead he was hired to go back over old ground. I didn’t understand why at the time. Now I recognize that of all Matsumoto’s comics,...

Oppenheimer Filmed in the Scientist’s Real Los Alamos Home
Image
Production designer Ruth De Jong explained how the real-life home of the titular Father of the Atomic Bomb provided the perfect setting for director Christopher Nolan's biopic thriller Oppenheimer.

Per IndieWire, De Jong discussed how the crew behind Oppenheimer struggled to stay as authentic to the historic events as possible, with Nolan and his son reportedly traveling across multiple areas in New Mexico, Utah and Colorado in search of the perfect location to film. "We wanted an overwhelmingly epic location that would help the audience understand what it meant for Oppenheimer to have taken his team to the middle of nowhere with nothing around," De Jong said. However, much of present-day Los Alamos was already modernized, which led De Jong to construct a period-accurate replica of the infamous 1940s town in Ghost Ranch, New Mexico.

Glenn “Spot” Lockett, the trailblazing punk producer behind Sst Records and artistic statements by the likes of Hüsker Dü and Black Flag, has died at 72. The influential engineer had been battling fibrosis before he suffered a stroke several months earlier and ultimately passed away on Saturday at a healthcare facility in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Former Sst Records co-owner Joe Carducci broke the news of Lockett’s death in a statement via Facebook, sharing that “his nurse told me he woke up alright but later showed no pulse and several attempts to revive him failed.” He noted the producer’s preferred name spelling “in all caps with a dot in the middle of the O” and called him “an architect of the natural approach to recording a band in the punk era.”

Carducci hailed Lockett for taking “the primacy of live jazz playing into recording bands against prevailing attempts to soften or...

Forrest Gump Is Secretly Dead - Theory Explained
Image
Forrest Gump is dead - at least, according to one fan theory. The 1994 drama stars Tom Hanks as Forrest, an intellectually slow but sweet man from the fictional town of Greenbow, Alabama. He lives through a great deal of history, meeting Elvis Presley and multiple presidents, serving in the Vietnam War, and much more. But despite all of his success, the landmark historical moments he lives through, and the influential people he meets, what he wants most is to be with the love of his life and childhood friend, Jenny (Robin Wright). He always thinks of her, though it often seems he'll never actually win her heart throughout Forrest Gump. Even in the face of that sad possibility, he still makes amazing and impressive strides in his life. Things always work out somehow, allowing him to excel at whatever he decides to try his hand at.

Lunar New Year Brings Revived China Box Office Cheer
Image
The Chinese New Year holidays have brought back scenes not seen in mainland China cinemas for a year – a slew of new release titles and crowds to match.

Few records will be broken. But after several months of desertification, the flood of returning cinema-goers may be a relief to the wider industry.

The holiday period, marked by family reunions, began on Saturday. New releases of some of the year’s most anticipated films followed on Sunday.

Most prominent among these were “The Wandering Earth 2,” a prequel to a massive sci-fi hit from 2019 and historical suspense comedy “Full River Red,” from Zhang Yimou.

Claiming top spot, “The Wandering Earth 2” earned close to 71 million on its opening day ahead of “Full River Red” which earned just shy of 60 million. Third, fourth and fifth places belonged to a trio of next and neck performances by World War II spy thriller “Hidden Blade” with 20.4 million,...

Hajime No Ippo Is The Perfect Underdog Anime Story
Image
There is nothing like a good underground story, especially an underground boxing story. There is no thrill quite like watching a boxer becoming stronger, facing adversity, and eventually being the last one standing in the ring.

There are many great sports anime about virtually every sport out there, from association football and volleyball to ping pong and more. But if you want an underdog sports story that mixes the heightened reality of anime with grounded animation, real-life techniques, and a rare story that moves beyond the typical high-school setting, there is none better than "Hajime no Ippo."

The show follows Ippo Makunouchi, a soft-spoken, gentle puppy of a guy who gets bullied at school because of how well-mannered he is. Things change when he meets a professional boxer named Takamura, who teaches Ippo about boxing. What starts as a way to defend himself and gain confidence evolves into a passion and a career,...

(Virtual) Talent Roundtable: The New Faces of German Cinema
Image
Click here to read the full article.

German cinema has a problem with diversity. In a recent survey of more than 5,000 workers in the German movie business, more than two thirds complained that characters considered outside the German mainstream — including Black, Arabic and Muslim people, as well LGBTQ+ characters and those from low socio-economic backgrounds — were mainly depicted as stereotypes on screen. A shocking 51 percent of those surveyed reported having experienced discrimination at the workplace in the past two years.

On the gender discrimination front, Germany also has a long way to go. A study by Pro Quote, an association that promotes equality and diversity in the film industry, found men still account for 72 percent of working directors and 85 percent of cinematographers.

But set against those depressing statistics are the individual stories of a new generation of filmmakers — actors, directors, producers and crew — whose diverse backgrounds more accurately reflect the true nature of German society.
