Diana Kerew, an Emmy-winner television producer, died at her home in Glendale on Nov. 25 following a battle with cancer. She was 81.
Kerew executive produced more than 60 movies and miniseries for television, achieving success in the male-dominated entertainment industry and paving the way for other female producers as a mentor.
Kerew started off as a reader for David Susskind’s Talent Associates; she then became the first female producer at the company. Working for Talent Associates and later Time-Life Television as an executive producer, she worked on 16 films and miniseries. Some of these projects included the Emmy-nominated “Blind Ambition,” starring Martin Sheen, the Emmy-nominated and Peabody winner “The Wall,” and “The Bunker” which earned Anthony Hopkins an Emmy for acting.
Kerew briefly served as executive producer and vice president of television for Highgate Pictures before starting her own production company. Transitioning to focus on children’s programming, Kerew worked on several ABC “Afterschool Specials.

“Fatal Contact” and “King of Triads” director Dennis Law’s 2010 action/thriller “Vampire Warriors” came out a while ago, so I understand that Arrow Films needs a gimmick to get people interested in a relatively obscure action flick by a relatively obscure Chinese filmmaker. Still, the addition of the word “lesbian” to the title seems a little sleazy. Instead of selling the film on its own merits, they’re just trying to cash in on horny young males who love lesbians and martial arts. I guess you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do to grab the attention of consumers nowadays, but this just comes across as cheap. If they were attempting something admirable with the title change, this wouldn’t be an issue. Sadly, I don’t think this is the case. Here’s what the film is about: Vampire hunter Ar leads a simple life, slaying the...

We got legally ip f'ed for posting that Contagion poster, so let's hope the same thing doesn't happen now that we've posted the first trailer for Steven Soderbergh's amazing looking trailer for Contagion.
This really does look great. A pre-apocalyptic film with an all star cast that's sure to send Soderbergh into retirement with grace. Perhaps even with an Oscar. It's easy to get excited that's for sure.
Synopsis:
An action-thriller centered on the threat posed by a deadly disease and an international team of doctors contracted by the Cdc to deal with the outbreak
Although, I gotta say... what's with giving away Paltrow's end like that?
Trailer for Contagion after the break.
Contagion stars Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne and Sanaa Lathan.

Martial arts fantasy True Legend is an upcoming film I’m very much looking forward to and a new trailer for it has appeared online.
The film is directed by Yuen Woo-Ping who is most famously known for his extensive work as the martial arts choreographer for such films as The Matrix, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Once Upon a Time in China. However, Master Yuen Woo-Ping is also a very capable film director having made numerous fantastic martial arts films like Iron Monkey, Jet Li’s Twin Warriors, and of course the Jackie Chan classic Drunken Master.
Written by To Chi-Long, who also wrote Jet Li’s Fearless, True Legend marks Yuen Woo-Ping’s return to directing feature-length films as he has not done so since 1996 with Iron Monkey 2. Watch the new trailer for True Legend below.

Dennis Law’s “Bad Blood” is a triad movie only in the sense that there are triad stuff a’happenin’ onscreen, but let’s face it, this is a kung fu/martial arts movie, filled with crazy, intense whirlwind fights. Law has already shown a skill for the genre in previous efforts like “Fatal Contact” and “Fatal Move”, and this looks like a major step forward for him in terms of action choreography. The cast includes Simon Yam (he’s always good), Andy On (he can be okay), and a new face to me, Jiang Lui Xia. If you like “Chocolate” or “Raging Phoenix”, you should definitely keep an eye out for Jiang Liu Xia, who is the little lady doing all the ass-kicking stuff in the trailer you see below (via the boys at Twitch), not to be confused with the pretty lady sitting around talking with Simon Yam.

A trailer for Dennis Law's triad actioner Bad Blood has been added to the official site. The main cast include Simon Yam, Bernice Liu (The King of Fighters), Andy On and raising action heroine Lu Xia Jiang (Coweb). Nicky Li who has collaborated with Law previously as the fight choreographer in Fatal Move and Fatal Contact returns again. Unlike Fatal Move, this film is rated Category Iib so the graphic violence may have been toned down.
When the boss of a ruling Hong Kong triad is arrested and executed in China for counterfeiting money, mayhem ensues as the mob's leading contenders circle the throne.
Will it be tough guy Funky (Simon Yam)? The boss' daughter Audrey (Bernice Liu)? The strange mute Dumby (Lu Xia Jiang)? The quiet achiever Calf (Andy On)? Or the power hungry senior officers Hung (Kenneth Low), Kong (Xin Xin Xiong) and Zen (Wai Man Chan...

Killer Imports [1] is a regular feature on Film Junk where we explore foreign-language films from around the world that haven’t yet had their chance to shine. There’s a scene in Fatal Move that made me appreciate this film. The camera is shooting from a relatively high angle, looking down at the aftermath of a shooting in which Chinese Triad members are laying on the pavement beside a car. We see another car enter the scene quickly. And the car runs over one of the men lying on the road! Normally, in the movies, you would expect a car to swerve around a body on the road, because you would be expecting a stuntman to be lying on the road. I didn’t rewind to see if the film-makers used a dummy or a CGI facsimile, but this subversion of expectation is the visual sleight of hand that I love.

If I gotta choose a torchbearer for the next kick ass actor in Hong Kong actioner, Wu Jing would easily be high on my candidate list. Some pop singer/actor who attempt to pass off as the raising new action star doesn’t cut it for me whereas Wu, who trained in martial arts since he was young, has believable on-screen fight presence and charisma as already proven in Spl, Invisible Target and Fatal Contact. In the much awaited martial arts thriller Legendary Assassin, Wu will also get a chance to display his directorial chops for the first time, alongside action choreographer Nicky Li. Based on the trailer, the sweet action scene further validate why I believe Wu is the real deal. The rest of the cast member include Celina Jade, Kou Zhan Wen (a fellow Wushu teammate of Wu), Alex Fong and giant wrestler Jiang Bao Cheng. Heres the...

Fox's 'Idol' has immunity from ABC's 'Flu'
Forget about all those concerns that ABC's ripped-from-the-headlines movie about a disastrous outbreak of avian flu in the United States would whip up a panic among the general public every time a pigeon strutted by. Tuesday's 8-10 p.m. airing of Fatal Contact: Bird Flu in America had its wings clipped from the start, finishing with just 5.3 million viewers and an anemic 1.8 rating/4 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. Fatal Contact had the misfortune of going up against Fox's American Idol (28.2 million, 11.4/31), which impressed once again by out-drawing its broadcast TV competition combined in the 18-49 demo. NCIS (15.5 million, 3.5/9) kept CBS afloat in viewers in the 8 p.m. hour.
