"Are the dead taunting the living or is the living taunting the dead?" And so begins another night of formulaic horror. If you head over to IMDb you'll discover that Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) lends his name to The Unleashed, an unwanted visitor from 2011 directed by Manuel H. Da Silva. Keep your excitement contained however, Malcolm provides a brief voiceover at the start of the movie and that's it. The film descends so fast from this point forward, you'll be forgiven for thinking Da Silva had a dance with the devil in the pale moonlight. The Unleashed sets its stall out early on, in fact, the film nosedives as soon as we reach present day. Supernatural chaos escalates when a troubled woman with a dark past dabbles with the infamous Ouija board. As far as concepts go, that's as deep as it gets. Starring Trisha Echeverria (American Pie Presents The Naked Mile...

On the Eve of D-Day, two Allied commandos sent to destroy a German gun installation uncover a secret occult lair where the Nazis are hiding a deadly she-demon, whom they plan to use to turn the tide of the war. The Devil’S Rock marks the directorial debut of special effects master Paul Campion (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, X-Men: the Last Stand), who crafts a bloody battle from hell in this Nazi-era frightfest. Featuring special effects and make-up by the five-time Academy Award® winning Weta Workshop (Avatar, District 9, Lord of the Rings, King Kong), this WWII-based film has been called “the best Kiwi horror since Peter Jackson’s Brain Dead.”

Chicago – If your ideal vision of prom is best represented by “Carrie,” then odds are Disney’s “Prom” is not for you. In fact, if you are a high schooler, were a high schooler or may become a high schooler, “Prom” is guaranteed to strike you as monumentally childish. It’s the sort of harmless dreck so mediocre and generic that it could’ve been made in any time period. In a sense, it’s timeless dreck.
See if this sounds familiar: a perky popular overachiever finds herself falling for the long-haired brooding loser with a motorcycle and a criminal record. “He’s a rude, arrogant menace!” she shouts early in the film, thus solidifying that she will undoubtedly end up in his arms at the final fade-out. Seriously, how many “Breakfast Club” retreads and Disneyfied teenage dramas does the human race need?
Blu-Ray Rating: 2.0/5.0

American Pie lovers (all both of yous) will be happy to hear the news that most of the film’s stars have signed on for one more sequel called American Reunion. It’s not that we hate the movie—we actually quite enjoyed it when it came out—but any goodwill toward the film was lost with each subsequent sequel (American Pie 2, American Wedding) and spinoff (American Pie Presents Band Camp, American Pie Presents The Naked Mile, American Pie Presents Beta House, American Pie Presents The Book Of Love) that came out of the franchise. But now, there will be (at least) one last hurrah.
American Reunion has signed every major actor from the film (though Alyson Hannigan is still a maybe) to reprise the roles they played in the 1999 film, with Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy, and Seann William Scott among them. If you weren’t really paying attention back then,...

Nussbaum now 'B.F.F.' with Rogue
Joe Nussbaum has signed on to direct the comedy B.F.F. for Rogue Pictures. Beau Bauman and Jesse Israel are producing.
B.F.F., a term used commonly by the teen and tween set that stands for "best friends forever," traces the story of two friends, a guy and a girl, over four years of high school, four proms and one funeral as they become unlikely best friends and eventually fall in love. Chad and Dara Resnik Creasey, whose credits include Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Pushing Daisies, wrote the script.
The intent is to make an R-rated comedy along the lines of American Pie and Superbad. A winter start date is being eyed.
Nussbaum is coming off Sydney White, which opened this weekend. He also directed the straight-to-DVD American Pie: The Naked Mile and the MGM comedy Sleepover. He broke into the business with the short-film spoof George Lucas in Love.
Nussbaum is repped by Endeavor, Principato-Young and attorney Karl Austen.

Sex sells with Rogue pickup
Rogue Pictures has picked up an untitled adult sex comedy pitch to be written by Erik Lindsay. Joe Nussbaum is on board to direct. While plot details are being kept under wraps, it is known that the main character is a guy in his mid- to late-20s as opposed to the usual sex comedies that center on high school or college-aged protagonists. Paul Getto, who brought the project in, will oversee with Andrew Rona. The comedy reteams Lindsay and Nussbaum, who are behind the company's upcoming American Pie 5: The Naked Mile. Lindsay wrote Mile as a spec, and Rogue turned it into an installment of the moneymaking "Pie" franchise. Rogue is so high on Mile that executives there wanted the two to work for them again.
