Despite only having a total of six appearances in the MCU to date, Spider-Man quickly won the hearts of many fans who had been waiting several years for him to appear onscreen alongside the likes of the Avengers. Any worries that he might not have embodied the spirit of the quip-hurling webslinger from the comics were quickly reassured by Tom Holland's portrayal of Peter Parker and his alter ego. The Spider-Man of the MCU captures the kindness, intelligence, and heroism of the comic version in more ways than one. However, the best way has to be his dialogue.
Peter Parker has had some amazing one-liners, ranging from inspiring to heartbreaking. While each of his appearances has more than one line worth mentioning, for the purposes of this list it will only focus on the lines that truly mattered. These are the moments where Peter's true personality shined the brightest,...

In case you couldn’t tell from the onslaught of merchandising and assorted marketing tie-ins Saturday Night Live has now been on TV for five whole decades. So go ahead and celebrate with… a cookie shaped like the cheeseburgers John Belushi yelled about in the ‘70s?

The fact that SNL is now half a century old makes it all the more laughable that the show was pronounced dead nearly 40 years ago, in a salty mock obituary published in an honest-to-goodness newspaper.
The February 21, 1986 edition of The Buffalo News, featured an article with the provocative headline “Time to Bury the Late ‘Saturday Night Live.’” The article didn’t mince words, proclaiming that it’s time to “Kill Saturday Night Live. Kill it dead. Pull the plug, flush it, trash it, kiss it goodbye.”
After pausing a moment for “reflection” before metaphorically cremating the remains of SNL, the article ends with...

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, Tubi is streaming one of the greatest romantic comedies ever — for free. Tootsie, the Dustin Hoffman cross-dressing comedy that ruled the box office in 1982, is now streaming on the free, ad-supported streamer. Tootsie had a difficult journey from page to screen; inspired by a 1970s play written by Don McGuire (Bad Day at Black Rock), it was initially to have been directed by Dick Richards before passing to Hal Ashby (Harold and Maude) over creative differences.

Following much-deserved renewed attention for Michael Roemer’s career thanks to the recent restorations of Nothing But a Man, The Plot Against Harry, and Vengeance Is Mine, the 97-year-old director has more reason to celebrate. Dying and Pilgrim, Farewell, a pair of rediscovered, largely unseen films by the director, will be opening at NYC’s Film Forum beginning this Friday, January 24 with Roemer in-person on Saturday, January 25.
Roemer’s documentary Dying will run in a new 4K restoration, scanned from the original camera negative by Colorlab, while his drama Pilgrim, Farewell will screen in a new 35mm print. Asked by Boston television network Wgbh if he would be interested in making a film about the rites and customs of death, Roemer agreed, but he was only interested in exploring the topic from the point of view of those in the process of dying. If The Conners season 7 wants to provide a satisfying ending to the Roseanne franchise’s overarching story, there are at least ten plots that the sitcom must wrap up. The Conners season 7 has a tricky road ahead. According to a TVLine report from late 2024, the final season of the Roseanne spinoff will be a “Six-episode farewell event” for the series. The Conners’ large cast of characters means that even the show’s normal seasons, which include over twenty episodes, often struggle to give every family member a moment in the spotlight. This makes season 7’s job even tougher.

After a long winter break, we’re certainly ready to get our nights of TV back in order. The good news is we’re getting there, with plenty to watch across the broadcast TV networks tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 15.
You just need to decide what you want to watch. Would you prefer a scripted drama, or are you in the mood for a game show? CBS is still airing some reruns, but it has started up its Game Show Wednesday lineup!
Something that is worth noting is that President Biden's address will take up the first 20 minutes of the night. Most networks are just pushing their shows back by 20 to 30 minutes. NBC is opting for no new episodes of shows at all.

Did Micheal Gambon read the Harry Potter books? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Micheal Gambon didn’t read the Barry Potter books, not a single one. His reason? Simple. Micheal trusted the script and stuck to it—literally. During an interview, Gambon unapologetically explained his reasoning: “No point in reading the books because you’re playing with [screenwriter] Steve Kloves’ words.”
For Gambon, the magic of the wizarding world lay in the script, not the source material. And honestly, who could argue with a legend who effortlessly blended gravitas with charm?
Gambon stepped into some big shoes after Harris’ death in 2002. Fans already adored Harris’ portrayal of the gentle, grandfatherly Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films. But Gambon wasn’t about to imitate. Instead, he brought his own “a little scary” flavor.

Days of our Lives spoilers for Thursday, December 19, smack across the face with reality when Sophia breaks some major news to her ex.
Baby on Board
Doesn’t it feel like Tate (Leo Howard) and Sophia (Madelyn Keintz) slept together just a few days ago in Salem time? Sure, they had time to have sex, Holly (Ashley Puzemis) to tell Tate she wanted him back, Tate to insist he was going to stick with Sophia, Sophia to make clear that she’s not interested in being second choice, and Tate and Holly to get back together. But since that all happened in the space of back-to-back episodes, it hasn’t really been that long.
Still, it seems it might have been long enough for Sophia to figure out she was pregnant, confirm it, track down Tate, and drop the bombshell. Will this problem be solved as quickly as it was created?...

In Dante Alighieri’s Inferno, the author describes Virgil and Dante’s grueling journey through hell and purgatory as they encounter horrifying creatures and weather revolting conditions. They develop an enduring sense of trust and care between one another throughout the poem. But when they reach heaven, Virgil is barred from entering with Dante. After all that, they must say goodbye. It’s a dissatisfying ending — one that the singer-songwriter (and Dante enthusiast) Hozier reimagines on the devotional epic “Hymn to Virgil.”

Although The Conners season 2s Thanksgiving episode might not seem like an obvious standout, this Roseanne spinoff outing was deservedly ranked as the shows finest hour. The Conners had a rough start. The show began life as Roseanne in 1988, running for nine seasons until 1997. Roseanne was revived to critical and ratings success in 2017, but series star Roseanne Barr was fired for racist tweets after the shows season 10 finale. Roseanne was killed off-screen, and the show was retitled The Conners, becoming one of the only sitcoms in TV history to kill off its own title character.

Over more than 40 years in Hollywood, Denzel Washington has only ever reprised one of his characters: Robert McCall of The Equalizer trilogy. Nearly 30 years ago however, there was another potential franchise in the works for him that he, the studio, and director Carl Franklin were all eager to see work.

While The Conners season 7 might still somehow spawn a spinoff, the latest news from Roseanne follow-up implies that it really is the end for the long-running sitcom. The Conners has an unusual history, even within the strange world of network sitcoms. The series began life in 1988 as Roseanne, a family sitcom about a blue-collar brood and their resilient, snarky eponymous matriarch. Roseanne was a critical and ratings success until its ninth and final season, wherein the working-class Conner family won the lottery and became millionaires overnight. This altered the shows tone completely and was retconned by 2017s season 10 revival.

Korean-made crime-comedy-thriller “I, The Executioner,” a sequel to 2015 hit ‘Veteran,” continued its spree at the top of the South Korea weekend box office. It earned $1.68 million in its fourth full weekend session, ahead of top-ranked new release “Joker: Folie a Deux.”
“I, The Executioner” saw its market share slip to 29%, according to data from Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council (Kofic). The famous French saying, “Après moi, le déluge” (“After me, the flood”) has often been attributed to Louis Xv, who used it to express his total disinterest in what would happen to the world after his own demise. If things fell apart, well, too bad. And yet it’s the king’s own grandson, Louis XVI, who was ousted from power during the French Revolution and died on the guillotine, to whom the quote is most applicable. His death, as well as that of his wife, Marie-Antoinette, marked the end of the monarchy and the height of the Reign of Terror. It was also the start of one of the first modern democracies, with all its grandeurs and flaws.
The unpleasant final days of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette are the subject of The Flood (Le Déluge), by Italian director Gianluca Jodice (The Bad Poet), who focuses solely on the period...

Batman: Caped Crusader stays true to classic noir mysteries by keeping the focus on Gotham City and its underworld corruption. Despite no appearances from other DC heroes, a subtle Easter egg hints at the possibility of Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen entering the series. Caped Crusader's dedication to the 1940s film noir aesthetic, along with nods to the Fleischers' Superman shorts, sets the stage for a rich, unique universe.
The following contains spoilers for Batman: Caped Crusader, now streaming on Amazon Prime.
Batman: Caped Crusader resolutely stays focused on its main character. Gotham City and its denizens are front and center, and the presence of the rest of the DC Universe is never so much as hinted at in Season 1. Naturally, there are more than enough stories for Bruce Wayne and his supporting cast to tell, and expanding beyond one hero seems neither necessary nor particularly desirable.

The Alien franchise is set to continue on the small screen with an “FX on Hulu” TV series from Fargo creator Noah Hawley, a show that began filming in Thailand last year, then had to halt production after a month due to the actors strike. Filming resumed earlier this year… and it looks like it’s wrapping up this month (as scheduled), because Sydney Chandler – whose previous credits include Don’t Worry Darling and the mini-series Pistol, and who was announced to be the lead of the Alien TV series when she was cast back in May of 2023 – has taken to social media to reveal that her time in Thailand has come to an end.

French media outlets are reporting that prosecutors have requested rape charges be brought against director Benoît Jacquot in connection to assault allegations made by actresses Isild Le Besco and Julia Roy.
Jacquot was taken into police custody on Monday for questioning on those allegations as well as assault charges brought by filmmaker Judith Godrèche. According to reports, prosecutors have not yet pressed for charges in connection to Godrèche’s charges. Jacquot has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
Godrèche filed her complaint against Jacquot in February, shortly after she began speaking publicly about her relationship with the Farewell, My Queen director in the 1980s, which she says began when she was 14-years-old and he was 40. In the wake of Godrèche’s revelations, Roy filed a complaint for sexual assault against the director, and Le Besco filed a complaint for rape of a minor over 15 years old. There have only been 19 Egot winners in entertainment history. This acronym title is attributed to the few stars who win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony, demonstrating them to be one of the very best practitioners in each of the four major entertainment fields of TV, music, film, and theater.
Several stars are looking to become the 20th Egot winner and among those names is Taika Waititi. He won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2020 for “Jojo Rabbit,” ticking off the film segment of the Egot. The first part of the Boruto anime has concluded, but the second part will not immediately start with the time skip depicted in the manga. The anime will need to cover a significant portion of the manga before it reaches the point of the time skip, including Code's attempt to kidnap Amado and the introduction of Eida. The anime has about 3 to 5 episodes worth of manga content left to adapt before it can kick off the time skip. The decision to end the first part of Boruto was due to Studio Pierrot needing a break to improve the quality of the anime.
Warning: Spoilers for episode #293 of Boruto: Naruto Next GenerationThe long first part of the Boruto anime concluded in 2023, and fans expect that when the second part debuts, it will start with the time skip that pushed Boruto's story a few years in the future over in the manga's second part,...

Who would pass up $30 billion? Hollywood’s top decision-makers and gatekeepers, apparently.
Beginning in 2021, the consulting firm McKinsey has published a series of reports exploring the entertainment industry’s representation and inclusion of historically excluded people. Along the way, the analysts totaled up the potential financial revenue that Hollywood could stand to gain if it adopted more culturally inclusive business solutions: $10 billion per year from closing the Black inequity gap, an eye-popping $12 billion to $18 billion from properly valuing Latino professionals and consumers, and — in the latest report released today, conducted in collaboration with Gold House — $2 billion to $4.4 billion from more effectively tapping the Asian and Pacific Islander market.
The latter figure is calculated based on U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data that Asian Americans earn on average 30 percent more than non-Asian Americans but spend 35 percent less on media. Meanwhile, McKinsey’s own survey of Api consumers found that nearly...

Get ready for a gritty noir mystery thriller series set in Los Angeles created by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend) and directed by Fernando Meirelles (City of God). Apple TV+’s latest series titled Sugar is an original story and it follows the titular character Private Detective John Sugar, who goes to LA to find a missing girl named Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As he digs deeper into the case he finds some secrets the Siegel family would have liked to keep buried.
While the critical reception of Sugar is not as good as I would have hoped, it is still an impressive series and worth your time. So, if you want to lose yourself in the dirty underbelly of LA with Pi John Sugar, here are the dates for the series’ upcoming episodes.
