A Sentai Series worthy to watch

One of my favourite of all-time

This is the show that got me into Super Sentai. I have rewatched it many times, and for me it's Sentai at its best where, if you like the characters and you like the cast, then it just feels like you're watching your friends who live in the TV! Although people might have different opinions on certain characters and you might not necessarily like all of them, and due to its episodic nature you are bound to like some episodes more than others, it certainly disproves the idea that TV shows having a formula (as opposed to presumably many ''really original'' shows) is automatically bad. When this was adapted into Power Rangers, in my opinion they just seemed to take out anything that was the least bit interesting, and not had much to replace it. The show was designed to be relatively easy to adapt, and we had a team of samurai that just happen to live in the modern day so the ''culturally unfamiliar'' things in Boukenger do seem like they could have been easier to work around by comparison. But the standout moments of the standout episodes of the standout characters of this show are still really good, about 20-30 episodes being particularly memorable and the most important in my book, and there is a moment in Task 19 (not giving anything away) which is very dramatic and is certainly a unique way of introducing said thing.

The soundtrack too, is fantastic, from the insert songs to some of the dramatic pieces to the reliably good opening and ending themes. There is really a lot of little elements that made Boukenger what it was, and even if you don't like some characters or episodes (or perhaps some of the spinoff media), then hopefully there is enough to keep you interested. After having watched the other Super Sentai shows, it still holds up well 19 years later in my opinion.
